Full weekend of Giddo's Gift fundraising this month
Giddo's Gift was founded in memory of Jordan 'Giddo' Giddins, a courageous young man from Flint who sadly lost his battle with Ewings Sarcoma in 2017, aged just 18. His mum, Mandy Giddins BEM, and sister, Beth Giddins, set up the charity to continue his legacy of helping other young people facing cancer.
The charity provides financial support and gift donations to young people aged 13 to 24 who are undergoing treatment for cancer, aiming to bring comfort, relief, and a sense of normality during an incredibly challenging time.
To mark Giddo's birthday, the charity is kicking off the weekend with a daring charity abseil down St Asaph Cathedral on Saturday, June 28. A team of 24 fundraisers - including BEM recipient Mandy, charity trustees, ambassadors, and long-time supporters - are taking part in the emotional challenge.
Participants are travelling from as far afield as Yorkshire, with Melanie Buckley, vice-chair of Flintshire Council and former Mayor of Flint, also among those descending the 62m drop.

More than £1,500 has already been raised ahead of the event, and the chosen location holds deep significance for the Giddins family.
Mandy said: 'Jordan spent a lot of time having treatment at Glan Clwyd Hospital, just minutes from St Asaph, so we passed the cathedral hundreds of times.
"Celebrating this day will never be the same without Jord but we remember his legacy and kindness, and the gift he was to us. When the vicar offered us this date, we just knew it was from Jordan. He wants us to do this.'
The weekend of events begins on Friday, June 27 with the annual Go Blue for Jord day. Schools, businesses and members of the community will don blue - Jordan's favourite colour and the colour of his beloved Manchester City FC - to raise awareness and funds for the charity that carries his name.
Mandy said: 'Year on year, the support we've received from the community is just incredible. But year on year, more young people are being referred to our charity – we can't stop now.

"We ask that you wear blue on the Friday to remember our hero, and donate what you can so we can continue bringing joy and hope to others in a similar situation to what Jord went through.'
The commemorations close with Giddo's Football Tournament on Sunday, June 29 at Deeside Leisure Centre from 2-6pm. Teams are still welcome to sign up for the friendly competition by emailing hello@giddosgift.com.
Mandy added: 'This whole weekend is about celebrating who Jord was - his strength, his love of people, and his passion for life. He brought so many people together, and that's exactly what we'll be doing all weekend.
"It means the world to know we're still making a difference in his name.'

Ripped Rams coach Sean McVay and stunning wife Veronika Khomyn unwind on yacht in St Tropez
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and his glamorous wife Veronika Khomyn have fled California for some European sun. The 39-year-old and his wife were pictured soaking up the sun aboard a luxury yacht in St Tropez, France on Friday. McVay was snapped without a shirt on, exposing his ripped physique that is most likely the envy of some of his own Rams players. Meanwhile Veronika, a real estate broker at The Agency - the firm that is the focus of the Netflix show 'Buying Beverly Hills' - wore an outfit over her bikini. McVay is surely trying to avoid any talk of football as the upcoming NFL season approaches. The Rams are due to begin the training camp at LMU in Los Angeles on July 24. The pair were believed to have met in Washington DC between 2011-2016 while McVay, 39, worked as tight end coach and offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders. The couple are making the most of McVay's time off before the Rams begin their training camp During that time, Khomyn was studying international business at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Khomyn first hinted at their relationship by posting a picture with McVay on Instagram in 2016. The couple tied the knot in a lavish Beverly Hills wedding in June 2022, about four months after McVay won the Rams their second franchise Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. The couple welcomed their son, Jordan, in October 2023.

Glastonbury fans complain over Rizzle Kicks snub after Jordan Stephens' message
Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, known as the duo Rizzle Kicks, performed on the Other Stage at Glastonbury today with Jade Thirlwall among those in the crowd Fans of duo Rizzle Kicks shared their disappointment with the BBC earlier over their set at Glastonbury Festival. The reaction came after bandmate Jordan Stephens had himself issued a message about filming at the festival. Jordan and his bandmate Harley Alexander-Sule, both 33, performed together as Rizzle Kicks on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset this afternoon. It marked the duo's return to the festival after making their Glastonbury debut on the BBC Introducing Stage back in 2013. Prior to their latest set, Jordan announced yesterday that the BBC, the "exclusive broadcast partner" of Glastonbury, would not be filming it. He shared the news in a statement issued to fans on Instagram ahead of their return today. Jordan wrote: "The BBC are not filming our Glastonbury set. If you're not there you will not be able to watch it back. It might well be once in a lifetime. Who knows." He added at the time: "The set is [fire emoji] and we're buzzin for it." His partner Jade Thirlwall, 32, later expressed disappointment over the situation. The Little Mix member, who is set to play the Woodsies Stage tomorrow, referenced the news on her Instagram Story whilst sharing her excitement over getting to see him perform at Glastonbury. Alongside a selfie, she wrote this afternoon: "What du mean I'm about to watch my bf at glasto when we were dreaming about it this time last year. Rizzle Kicks set isn't televised (booo) so get into it and get here to the other stage lol." Jade isn't alone in her disappointment, with a number of fans having expressed frustration over Rizzle Kicks' set not being available on BBC iPlayer. Several other acts who performed on the Other Stage today, like Franz Ferdinand and Gracie Abrams, were livestreamed. The livestream for that stage however began at 2.15pm, which was after Rizzle Kicks' set. One fan wrote on X: "Rizzle Kicks not being broadcast at Glastonbury is a travesty, especially compared to some of the s**t that they are showing." Another wrote: "@BBCiPlayer why can't I found Rizzle Kicks. I'm really disappointed." A third person, who had previously requested a livestream be available for the set, later posted: "Thanks guys missed Rizzle Kicks great job." Another said shortly after the duo's set began: "No Rizzle Kicks on iPlayer, sort it out lads." Approached for comment, a spokesperson for the BBC told the Mirror tonight that the broadcaster will be providing more than 90 hours of performances. They said: "The BBC, Glastonbury's exclusive broadcast partner, brings audiences a two-month celebration of the festival this June and July. "Our BBC iPlayer coverage provides over 90 hours of performances, with live streams of the five main stages, in addition to The Glastonbury Channel and over 90 sets to watch on demand throughout July. There is also extensive coverage on TV, radio and BBC Sounds - including over 30 performances and DJ sets that will be available to hear on demand on BBC Sounds throughout July."
