Unable to afford ambulance, man carries daughter's body on trolley rickshaw for postmortem in Odisha
Asha Bindhani, a minor girl suffering from mental illness, reportedly died by suicide on Thursday afternoon in Deula village under Baliapal police limits. After spotting her, locals informed her father Madhu Bindhani and the police.
Madhu, a daily wage labourer, rushed to the spot and found his daughter dead. Shortly after, police arrived and advised him to take the body to the Baliapal CHC for postmortem.
Madhu contacted an ambulance service, but the driver allegedly demanded Rs 1,200 for transporting the 'dead body'. The desperate father also sought help from the government's 108 emergency ambulance service. However, he was reportedly told that the service does not cover transportation of deceased persons.

Senior Advocate Madhavi Divan, appearing for the husband, told the court, "She has to work also. Everything cannot be demanded like this." "Do I look schizophrenic, my lords?" the woman asked. The Chief Justice then reminded the petitioner that she cannot claim properties belonging to her estranged husband's father. The woman, who was representing herself, told the bench that her husband worked as a Citibank manager and also runs two businesses. "I wanted a child, but he didn't give me a child. He filed for divorce, saying that I am schizophrenic," she said. She also alleged that her husband forced her to quit her previous job. The court then went through the husband's tax returns as his lawyers pointed out that his income had declined after he quit the job. The Chief Justice then told the woman to "be satisfied" with the flat and take up a "good job". "Or you better take those 4 crore, find a good job in Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore... there is a demand in IT centres," he said. "Aap itni padi likhi hai. Aapko khudko mangna nahi chahiye aur khudko kama ke khana chahiye (You are so educated, you must not ask and earn your livelihood)," the Chief Justice said. The order in the case has been reserved.

Neuberg unveils Rs 30-cr integrated diagnostics centre in Ranchi
Chennai, Jul 22 (PTI) Neuberg Pulse Diagnostics has inaugurated a state-of-the-art integrated diagnostics centre in Ranchi, Jharkhand, established at an outlay of Rs 30 crore, a top official said. The company, part of the city-based Neuberg Diagnostics, has committed to investing over Rs 100 crore to set up diagnostic facilities across Jharkhand over the next two to three years. For the Ranchi facility, Neuberg has partnered with Kolkata-based Pulse Diagnostics to strengthen its presence in the eastern region, including West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and the Northeastern states. Cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni has inaugurated the centre on July 21 by lighting a traditional lamp, in the presence of Neuberg Diagnostics Chairman and Managing Director GSK Velu and Neuberg Pulse Diagnostics CEO and Managing Director Sunaina Bihani, a press release issued on Tuesday said. Located in Harmu Colony, Ranchi, the new centre will offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic services under one roof in pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine, cardiology, and gastroenterology. It will provide over 6,000 routine and super-speciality tests, along with MRI, CT scan, digital and portable X-rays, advanced sonography, and more. Commenting on the launch, GSK Velu said, 'With the opening of Neuberg Pulse's integrated diagnostics centre in Ranchi, we are bringing a complete range of world-class diagnostic services — from preventive tests to advanced pathology and radiology—closer to the people of Jharkhand." 'We are proud to launch this centre at the former residence of cricketing legend MS Dhoni and are happy to partner with him in this venture," he added. Sunaina Bihani said the Ranchi centre would serve as a hub as Neuberg expands across Jharkhand and neighbouring districts. Three youths arrested for smuggling 6.5 kg of ganja near Namakkal
NAMAKKAL: Three youths were arrested for smuggling 6.5 kg of ganja -- worth Rs 63,000 -- near Mohanur in Namakkal district on Monday night. The arrested youths have been identified as M Tirupathi, 23, and S Vigneswaran, 20, of Erumapatty and V Sanjay, 19, of Senthamangalam. Namakkal district superintendent of police S Vimala, prohibition enforcement wing additional superintendent of police Dhanraj, inspector Sankarapandian and sub-inspector Selladurai carried out a vehicle check near Thirthampalayam on the Mohanur - Paramathi Velur state highway around 11pm. The cops intercepted three youths travelling on a motorcycle, conducted a search and found 6.5 kg of ganja in a bag they carried. "They were smuggling the ganja to sell,' said the inspector. The police seized the ganja and the motorcycle. The arrested youths were remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.
