New Nintendo Switch 2 bundle announced as console breaks another sales record
The Nintendo Switch 2 is being bundled with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as the latest Pokémon Presents reveals new surprises.
The Pokémon Company has held its latest Pokémon Presents showcase, and the results were strangely underwhelming.
Anyone hoping for a Gen 10 tease, or a surprising new spin-off, will have come away disappointed, as it mostly featured only updates on mobile games and a new Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer.
It was not without a few surprises, but the most significant of the lot wasn't actually shared during the showcase: a new Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that'll be available for pre-order in less than 24 hours.
The news was revealed on Nintendo's social media accounts, once the showcase wrapped, and as you can probably guess, it will include both the console and a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It will launch the same day as the game on October 16.
Nintendo doesn't specify if the bundled game will be a physical or digital version, but it's almost certainly the latter, if the Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza bundles are anything to go by.

There's also no pricing at the moment, but with pre-orders opening tomorrow on July 23, you won't need to wait long to find out. Although we can estimate based on the prices of the other two Switch 2 bundles.
While the Mario Kart World bundle costs £429.99, and thus saves money on the game itself, the Donkey Kong Bananza bundle is £454.98, which is exactly how much you'd spend if you bought the Switch 2 console and a digital copy of the game separately.
Assuming Nintendo is handling the Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundle the same way, it would cost the same amount as the Donkey Kong one, since the Switch 2 version of the game is priced at £58.99.
The Switch 1 version is cheaper at £49.99 and can be upgraded to the Switch 2 version, but with the additional fee, you'd only be saving £1.
Every new announcement at Pokémon Presents July 22
A proper teaser for Pokémon's collaboration with Wallace & Gromit studio Aardman was shown, confirming the two companies are producing a stop-motion animated series called Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures Of Sirfetch'd & Pichu that will start in 2027 and is set in the UK-inspired Galar region from Pokémon Sword & Shield.
A permanent outdoor attraction called PokéPark Kanto is scheduled to open in early 2026 in Japanese amusement park Yomiuriland. Exact details of what it entails are slim, but it's described as 'a space where pokémon will always be, and where people and pokémon can have fun together.'
A new mobile app called Pokémon Friends is already available on Switch as well as the Apple and Google Play stores, and offers simple pokémon-themed puzzles that reward you with in-game plush toys you can use to decorate rooms with.
A new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A revealed some of the new characters you'll meet, as well as rogue mega evolutions, where certain wild pokémon are able to mega evolve without a trainer. It also confirmed the game's first new mega evolution – Mega Dragonite – and that pre-orders net you a Ralts that can later mega evolve to Mega Gardevoir.
This announcement comes after it was reported by Japanese outlet Yomiuri that, according to data compiled by Famitsu, the Switch 2 has broken another sales record, pushing more than 1.5 million units in Japan one month after its June launch.
If accurate, this would mean the Switch 2 is selling three times faster than its predecessor and has even outpaced the PlayStation 2, the best-selling console of all time, in its first month in Japan.
What's more staggering is that, according to analyst Dr Serkan Toto, Famitsu's data doesn't include units sold directly by Nintendo, so the real sales figure is even higher.
Nintendo itself has yet to formally share any sales data, but after it smashed records worldwide the company is likely to exceed its target of 15 million Switch 2s sold by the end of March 2026.

Two new racers coming to Mario Kart World hints Donkey Kong credits
Fans have noticed the credits for Mario Kart World feature two Donkey Kong actors that aren't in the game yet, as hopes raise for a Nintendo Direct annoucement. Now that Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are out it's not entirely clear where the Switch 2 goes from here. Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 are major new releases but they're both cross-gen Switch 1 games. Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders have been announced but they're clearly both lower tier releases. Not only is it unclear what the next big Switch 2 game will be but it's also a mystery as to how Nintendo will treat Mario Kart World going forward. Clearly it will get DLC at some point, but will it work the same as Mario Kart 8 or, as new rumours suggest, will it be treated more like a live service game, with regular updates used to promote other Nintendo games. Nintendo, as ever, has said nothing, with no hint at any DLC at all. However, right from day one, players noticed that although even the most obscure character in the game has at least three costumes, Donkey Kong and Pauline only have two – their default and one other. This seems very peculiar given how prominent Bananza has made the pair, but it's so suspicious that many believe it's an indication that more will be released in order to promote Bananza. But if that's the case, why hasn't it happened yet? *** WARNING: Massive Donkey Kong Bananza spoilers beyond this point. Do not read on unless you've already beaten the game *** Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. There is no current answer as to why Nintendo hasn't announced new costumes for Donkey Kong and Pauline, but if they are going to do it then perhaps it will happen during the rumoured Nintendo Direct this month. But while the costume situation remains a mystery, fans have discovered something in the credits of the game which seem to point at a different Bananza-related addition. Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit noticed that the voice actors for main villain Void Kong and (this is the big spoiler!) King K. Rool are also credited in Mario Kart World. None of the Mario Kart World credits indicate what roles any of the actors play but all of the existing characters in the game already seem to be accounted for, so it's a mystery as to who Yuu Hayashi and Tsuguo Mogami are, or will be, voicing. More Trending That doesn't guarantee it'll be Void Kong and King K. Rool but it is hard to imagine this is all a coincidence and they're voicing two other completely different characters, that just don't happen to have been announced yet. What's much harder to guess at is whether there might be other characters from Bananza coming to Mario Kart World and whether other characters will be added as they get new games. Diddy Kong (who was already in Mario Kart 8), Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong are also in Bananza but they're all nominally part of the Super Mario universe. So what happens when Metroid Prime 4 comes out? Will Nintendo add Samus Aran to Mario Kart World at that point? It's impossible to say, but if there's not some kind of annoucement at the next Nintendo Direct, whenever that might be, it would now be more surprising than if there is. Nintendo Switch 2 beats PS4 and PS5 as fastest-selling console ever
The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to break records around the world, as Xbox's Forza Horizon 5 makes a big splash on PS5. We already knew the Nintendo Switch 2 was the fastest-selling console ever worldwide, with 3.5 million units sold within its first four days, but we now have a better picture of its success in the US. According to Circana's Mat Piscatella, an analyst specialising in US video game sales, the Switch 2 debuted as the fastest-selling games hardwre in US history, leading to record high consumer spending for the month of June, across video game hardware and accessories. The Switch 2 sold 1.6 million units in June, following its launch on June 5, which is the highest launch month unit sales for a piece of video game hardware ever in the US. Despite the fact that June is usually a very quiet month for video game sales and a very unusual time to launch a new console. According to Piscatella, the record was previously held by Sony's PlayStation 4, which sold 1.1 million units when it launched in November 2013. However, the PlayStation 5 was reported to have beaten this figure when it launched in 2020, selling between 1.1 million and 1.3 million units, but either way, Sony has been knocked down a peg. Although, that's rookie numbers compared to Japan, where the Switch 2 outsold the Switch 1 by 300% and achieved the same record as in the US, of becoming the fastest-selling console ever, by beating the PlayStation 2. Unsurprisingly, the Switch 2 was the best-selling video game hardware in both units and dollar sales, in June in the US, but the PlayStation 5 is still the best-selling console of the year so far, across both measures. As for the June game charts, Elden Ring Nightreign maintained the top spot for a second month. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was the highest new entry at number two, while Mario Kart World debuted at number three. It's worth noting that the latter is only physical sales and doesn't include digital sales or hardware bundles – so it is certainly number one in reality. Another notable point is the success of Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5, which is placed sixth behind Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Stellar Blade on the US sales chart (the latter received a bump following its PC launch). More Trending According to the Alinea Insight newsletter, which has tracked total sales between January 1 and July 21, 2025, Xbox title Forza Horizon 5 has surpassed three million copies sold on PlayStation 5 in less than three months, after its release in April. Within 25 days of its launch on PlayStation 5, Forza Horizon 5 sold a massive two million copies on the console. For comparison, it took Astro Bot roughly three months to hit the same figure, while Death Stranding 2 sold one million copies within 25 days. By crossing the three million mark, Forza Horizon 5 has surpassed Monster Hunter Wilds (2.9 million) as the best-selling new game on PlayStation 5 in 2025, which will probably come as a surprise to both Sony and Microsoft, especially as it originally came out nearly four years ago. This will likely only reinforce Microsoft's push to multiplatform releases, with Gears Of War: Reloaded set to launch August 26 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is also set to hit Sony's console on August 12, with rumours of Starfield and Halo jumping ship next. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
