Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigns following viral Coldplay concert video
The company said Mr Byron had resigned and the board had accepted it. A search for a new CEO will begin soon.
In a statement, Astronomer said: 'As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.'
It added: 'The board will begin a search for our next chief executive as co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.' Tech firm chief executive Andy Byron and a colleague went viral after a video from a Coldplay concert in Boston on 16 July showed them arm in arm during a crowd kiss cam.
Appearing to joke about the scene, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented during the show: 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.'
The moment quickly gained traction online, racking up millions of views and prompting widespread speculation about the identities of those involved.
While Astronomer previously said Mr Byron had been placed on leave, the company stopped short of confirming whether he was the man seen in the video. The pair immediately tried to hide their identities, and failed miserably. Pic: Instaagraace via TikTok
In a statement posted to X on Friday, the company said: 'The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.'
Astronomer also clarified that another named staff member had not attended the event and that 'no other employees were in the video.'
Mr Byron has not commented publicly, despite a fake statement purporting to be from him circulating online.

Colm O'Regan: Taking a chance like nobody's watching — impossible these days
The Wire has a quote for everything. In this case a regretful Baltimore gangster Stringer has been cheated by State Senator Clay Davis who took his bribes but didn't give him building permits. And now his friend Avon is I told you so-ing him. 'They saw your ghetto ass coming from miles away', he says. The same after-the-fact advice might be given to Andy Byron who appeared on the Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert, in a romantic clinch with his 'Head of People'. We all saw his CEO ass from miles away. What Stringer Bell and Andy Byron have in common is that they are unprepared for the different world they find themselves in. Stringer, dealing with a politician; Andy Byron realising that EVERYTHING is on camera now. I don't have any sympathy for him but I can imagine he must consider it a little unfair. He's just trying to have an affair. Is it too much to ask that it doesn't go all around the world? In a different era, Andy Byron's namesake Lord could have ridden everyone at that concert and all the members of Coldplay and probably might have got away with it. Lord Byron got into plenty of trouble but there wasn't enough parchment in London to detail it all. This other guy? Jeez you get into one squeeze with your head of HR and it appears on every screen in the world. It's remarkable that you can be CEO and completely fluent in risk assessment but not consider the possibility of being on a big screen at a concert by a band who have a song that is literally called 'The Jumbotron Song'... where Chris Martin improvises music based on who appears on a giant big screen. Even at matches, people are ready for it. The most disconsolate fan, their team being bate out the door, will still go nuts with joy and excitement if they themselves on the big screen. Some will sacrifice being able to see themselves by staring down the barrel of the camera. And they achieve immortality. That guy in the Brendan O'Connor show audience who points at the camera with perfect timing. Mick McCarthy's pitch-side lantern-jawed smile has been played millions of times now to the turn of George Michael's Careless Whisper. In fact it's likely that's the first time anyone will hear the song Careless Whisper, George Michael, and Mick McCarthy bound together in perpetuity. Others hopefully will never know their fame. Like the man in the Winning Streak audience who was clapping so enthusiastically, he hurt his own thumb. That's up on YouTube forever now, next to Andy Byron. The video is called 'The Man Who Hurt His Hand Clapping'. It's weird watching yourself recorded unbeknownst. Frequently a privilege reserved for shoplifters and others in trouble, we are increasingly watching ourselves back. I know we have a camera out the front... yet I forget. I watched it back recently to see whether a parcel might have been horsed into the green bin or not. The parcel remains unaccounted for. But I did see myself and poor posture and my bald spot, muttering to myself while looking in the boot of the car. Giving out about lights switched on and doors left open. Pure, unguarded me. Seeing myself as others saw me. Andy Byron was placed on administrative leave and later resigned. Probably not for infidelity. But for getting caught. To quote Slim Charles in The Wire. Maybe he 'ain't cut out to be no CEO'. To come back he will take the 'key learnings': namely that with phones, drones, Jumbotrons and CCTV, we may no longer be able to dance or take a chance like no one's watching. As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Fellow beauty buffs react Since being shared online, the clip has taken the internet by storm, amassing more than a whopping 755k views in just one day. Common mistakes that are destroying your healthy hair Haircare experts at shared their insight. Not brushing correctly Brushing your hair regularly is one of the most basic, yet effective, ways to keep it looking healthy and maintained. However, mechanical damage from your hairbrush and brushing your hair the wrong way may be doing more harm than good. To avoid excessive pulling and breakage to the hair, the best way to brush your hair is to start at the ends and work your way up to the roots. It's also important to choose a brush that is gentle on hair, but tough on tangles. Not using the right hairbrush for hair type Selecting the right hairbrush for your hair type is essential to maintain healthy hair. Different hairbrushes are designed to work with different hair types, textures, and lengths. Taking the time to pick out your perfect brush is the little thing you can do to make a big difference when it comes to your hair health. For fine hair, a brush with soft-flex teeth is recommended as it can de-tangle hair without pulling or damaging fragile strands. For straight to wavy hair, we recommend our de-tangling brushes with regular-flex teeth, and for thick or curly hair, we recommend our firm-flex teeth and our brushes with a larger paddle size. If you have tight curls and coils, a wide-tooth comb maybe a better match for your hair. Not brushing treatments through in the shower Using treatments is a great way to keep your hair hydrated and healthy. Whether you're using a deep conditioner or treatment masque, it's important to brush it through from the mid-lengths through to the ends of the hair. This will make sure it is evenly distributed through the hair so the treatment can nourish all strands. When brushing through your treatment, make sure you use a brush that is as gentle on wet hair as it is dry. The importance of scalp care in healthy hair Healthy hair starts at the root so bring a scalp brush into your hair care routine has many benefits, as it promotes blood circulation. A scalp brush can help with dandruff, by removing the build-up of old skin cells and products that can lead to an itchy, flaky scalp. Not only do scalp brushes remove the leftover products that can lead to dandruff, but they can also help apply products - from oil treatments to anti-dandruff shampoos - deeper into your scalp. Also, massaging your scalp stimulates pressure points and increases blood circulation, unblocking hair follicles, allowing your hair to grow stronger and healthier. Close to 100 people flooded to comments, where one said: ''Oooh as a greasy haired gal I'm intrigued.'' Someone else would also be dashing to their nearest M&S to snap up the £3 find, ''Ooh I love a clarifying shampoo as someone with thick hair who uses a lotttt of product. Must try this!'' ''Oooh I've been meaning to find a new clarifying shampoo, I'll give this a try!'' chimed in another one.
