INSIDE TRACK Jim Delahunt's top horse racing tips for King George VI weekend at Ascot plus York, Doncaster and more
ANDREW BALDING has saddled more winners than anyone else in Britain this year.
Now KALPANA can prove the jewel in the trainer's crown on Saturday.

A small field looks certain for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
And I'm backing the four-year-old to make a winning return to the scene of last October's Group 1 success.
The winner of last weekend's Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton 12 months ago went on to land the Fillies' and Mares' on Ascot's Champions Day and both of her runs over the Curragh's ten furlongs have promised plenty this season.
Epsom's Coronation Cup 1-2 Jan Breughel and Calandagan (winner since) dominate the market.
But Kalpana's form in ten furlongs Group Ones behind Los Angeles (third) and Whirl (second) were both superb efforts and she looks certain to enjoy Saturday's return to a mile and a half (4.10).
Oisin Murphy replaces suspended Colin Keane, but the jockey was on board for Kalpana's third to Los Angeles in the Tattersalls Gold Cup before Keane (fourth on White Birch) then became Juddmonte's retained rider.
His 2-3-3 on the mare includes last summer's course and distance third in the Ribblesdale.
Soft ground looks unlikely, but this week's rain has ensured Ascot's officially good terrain should be fine for everyone and Juddmonte have committed the filly to contest a race which the owners' legendary Enable won three times in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Ian Williams' Aalto was a 40-1 second for this column in the Bunbury Cup two weeks ago.
But I'm siding against the likely favourite for Saturday's International Stakes by backing Michael Dods' NORTHERN EXPRESS at 3.0.
Racehorse owned by TikTok star Big John that costs £60 a share branded 'terrible' after beating one rival in three races
Paul Mulrennan's mount has finished 441 in the last three runnings of this £150,000 handicap.
Last year's success was secured off a mark of 102 and seven races without a win since have seen him tumble back down to Saturday's rating of 100.
Each of my selection's last three outings at York, Ascot and Haydock have looked totally geared to Saturday's big race.
And that middle effort to be seventh of 27 in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at the Royal meeting was particularly meritorious with the International in mind.
Dods' horses have hit a rich vein of summer form and silver fox Mulrennan was seen at his best in getting my Tuesday nap JM JHINGREE home at 10-1 at Musselburgh.
Jim Crowley missed a trip to Ayr to ride new Stewards' Cup favourite Almeraq on Monday.
But the jockey's at York for ELMONJED on Saturday (2.0) and William Haggas' sprinter can get off the mark for the season.
ONE NIGHT THUNDER gets the nap vote in Doncaster's 4.20 today.
And a second horse worth following in the likely soft conditions is handicap debutant LEGEND FOREVER at 4.55.
Adrian Keatley's three-year-old tackles ten furlongs for the first time from a lowly opening mark of 70.
This horse has shown up well enough in his three qualifying runs over seven furlongs to suggest the trainer is taking a leaf out of Sir Mark Prescott's playbook.
The Keatley yard had a 28-1 first-time-out winner at Ayr on Monday after Kihavah went down with all guns blazing at Market Rasen last Saturday.
And Legend Forever can defy a nine-week lay off with a first-time tongue tie applied for this step up in trip.
Leopardstown has some unusually small fields for tonight's card, but QUIZ TEST was a half-length second in the closing stayers' handicap 12 months ago and the five-year-old can go one better under Shane Foley at 8.27.
The jockey's been on board for five of the horse's 15 starts and Sean Byrne's runner is 5lbs lower than last year with a first-time tongue tie added to his cheekpieces from last month's fifth at Limerick.
I FANCY Reciprocated could be a short price to complete an Ascot hat-trick tomorrow (2.25) but CAPE ASHIZURI was impressive on debut at Ayr and can win again. York and Sandown race in the evening and YAASER can boost the Almeraq Ayr form in the Knavesmire's 5.30 under the impressive Lauren Young.
RACING LEAGUE gets back under way at Yarmouth tonight and at least there's a Scottish connection to one of 'our' runners in the opener at 5.40. Charlie Johnston's NEOMA has been a neck and a nose short of completing a hat-trick the last twice and a 4lbs rise should be fine under Joe Fanning.

Yohel Pozo's pinch-hit single sends Cardinals past Dodgers
August 5 - Masyn Winn and Ivan Herrera hit home runs, Yohel Pozo delivered a go-ahead, pinch-hit single in the ninth inning and the St. Louis Cardinals pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in the opener of a three-game series. Cardinals right-hander Sonny Gray shook off recent struggles to give up one run on one hit over seven innings as St. Louis improved to 2-2 on a six-game road trip to San Diego and Los Angeles. Gray, who struck out eight and walked one, permitted 17 earned runs and 30 hits over his previous three outings combined. Freddie Freeman homered and Tyler Glasnow went seven strong innings, but the Dodgers still lost in the opener of a six-game homestand. Glasnow yielded one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. It was his second seven-inning outing in five starts since returning from a 2 1/2-month stint on the injured list caused by shoulder inflammation. The Cardinals' go-ahead run in the ninth came against new Dodgers right-hander Brock Stewart, who was acquired at the trade deadline Thursday from the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota greeted Stewart (2-2) with consecutive singles by Willson Contreras and Lars Nootbaar. Two outs later, Pozo singled to right-center for a one-run lead. Shohei Ohtani led off the Dodgers' ninth with a single off left-hander JoJo Romero, but Mookie Betts was robbed of a hit on a diving catch from Nootbaar in right field. Romero closed it out for his second save. Winn gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead with a home run to left field in the second inning, his eighth of the year. The Dodgers got even in the fourth on Freeman's home run to right field, his 13th of the season and third in five games. The Cardinals took a brief 2-1 lead on Herrera's home run off left-hander Anthony Banda in the eighth, his 10th. The Dodgers tied in the bottom of the frame on a leadoff double from Teoscar Hernandez and consecutive groundouts. St. Louis right-hander Riley O'Brien (1-0) picked up his first career win despite giving up a run in the eighth. --Field Level Media

Chargers LB Denzel Perryman won't face charges in weapons arrest
August 5 - Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from police custody on Monday, and the Los Angeles District Attorney decided not to move forward with a felony weapons charge, public records showed. Perryman had been held since Friday after he was pulled over by police for vehicle code violations. He was headed to a gun range at the time, TMZ reported. Of the five firearms in his vehicle, two were assault-style rifles that are illegal in California. Although Perryman was scheduled to appear at Inglewood Court on Tuesday, he is free to go as the DA declined to file charges in the case. His arrest will be considered a detention on his record as a result. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters he visited Perryman in jail on Sunday. "Love Denzel," Harbaugh said Monday. "He's always done right. He's never been in trouble. Got a beautiful family, and we'll let the due process play out." Perryman, 32, is entering the second season of his second stint with the Chargers. He registered 55 tackles and one sack in 11 starts for the Chargers in 2024, missing six games with a groin injury. Perryman signed a one-year, $2.655 million contract with the Chargers for the 2025 season. --Field Level Media

Dodgers activate Max Muncy, place Tommy Edman on IL
August 5 - The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder Max Muncy from the injured list but also placed infielder Tommy Edman on the IL on Monday. Muncy, 34, has been sidelined since injuring his left knee during the Dodgers' game against the Chicago White Sox on July 2. Playing at third base, Muncy attempted a leaping catch to snare a throw from catcher Will Smith as Chicago's Michael A. Taylor tried to steal the bag. Taylor's helmet collided with Muncy's leg, and the Dodger immediately collapsed to the ground and clutched his knee. A follow-up MRI, however, revealed no structural damage. Muncy made five rehab appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he recorded five hits, including a home run, in 15 at-bats. He has played in 81 games this season for the Dodgers, recording a .250 batting average, 13 homers and 55 RBIs. The 30-year-old Edman landed on the 15-day IL with a right ankle injury for the second time this season after spraining it in Sunday's game at the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2024 NLCS MVP was hitting .228 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 86 games this season, his second with Los Angeles. Edman suffered a similar injury against Boston last week and previously spent May 3-17 on the injured list with right ankle inflammation. --Field Level Media
