NBA: Devin Booker Signs Record-Breaking Two-Year, $145M Extension With Phoenix Suns
Last Updated: The Phoenix Suns signed Devin Booker to a two-year, $145 million extension through 2029–30. Despite his strong performance, the Suns missed the playoffs. The Phoenix Suns have signed star guard Devin Booker to a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2029–30 season, as per reports. Booker, 28, has solidified himself as one of the NBA's premier shooting guards. A four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection, he has averaged 24.4 points per game since being drafted 13th overall out of Kentucky by the Suns in 2015. During the 2024–25 season, Booker posted strong numbers—25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game—while shooting 46% from the field. Despite his individual success, the Suns endured a disappointing campaign and missed the playoffs. Big Three Era Falls Flat Phoenix's roster, which featured Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, was built to contend for a championship. Formed in 2023, the trio combined Booker's scoring prowess, Durant's legendary talent, and Beal's offensive firepower. However, the superteam struggled to stay healthy and never developed consistent chemistry. In their first full season together (2023–24), the Suns were plagued by injuries and defensive lapses. They frequently played without a fully available lineup, and coaching instability only worsened the situation. Despite brief flashes of potential, the team failed to make a meaningful playoff run. Following the 2024–25 season, the Suns made sweeping leadership changes. Head coach Mike Budenholzer was dismissed after one year and replaced by Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott. General manager James Jones was also let go, with Brian Gregory promoted to oversee basketball operations. Under the new front office, the Suns quickly began reshaping the roster. Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster seven-team deal that brought Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks to Phoenix. Beal could also be on the move this offseason. With the extension in place, Booker remains the face of the franchise. As the Suns enter a new era, they'll rebuild around their longtime star, hoping to return to contention with a younger, more balanced roster. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. The iconic Lord's stadium in London is hosting the third Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England. Introduced in 2007, the ringing of the bell at Lord's is a revered tradition, reserved for legends who've shaped the game. With Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid having taken their turn before, it's only fitting that Tendulkar continues the Indian legacy at cricket's most iconic venue. The clip of Tendulkar ringing the bell was shared by fans and broadcasters on X on Thursday, and it is now going viral on the internet. India have made one change to their playing XI for the third Test from the second one. In place of Prasidh Krishna, world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah is back. Bumrah missed the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham last week as part of his workload management. The hosts have also made one change to their playing XI. Tearaway pacer Jofra Archer is back in the whites for England after more than four years. He replaced Josh Tongue. Shoaib Bashir, Zak Crawley, and Brydon Carse have failed to impress with their performances in the series so far, but they will still get one more chance to prove themselves. India's Test record at Lord's In the last 93 years, India have played a total of 19 Tests at Lord's, but only on three occasions (1986, 2014, and 2021) has it managed to get the better of the Poms.
