Dhofar Governorate to host exhibition supporting SMEs
Dhofar: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represented by the SMEs Committee, will organise the "Tamkeen and Sumou" (Empowerment and Elevation) exhibition on 5 August in Dhofar Governorate. The exhibition will feature the participation of over 60 SMEs from various sectors. The participating sectors in the exhibition include tourism, retail, restaurants, and handicrafts. This aligns with the Chamber's directives aimed at expanding economic diversification and empowering SMEs for growth and expansion. The exhibition seeks to promote these enterprises' products, enhance their competitiveness in local markets, and provide opportunities for building commercial relationships with private sector entities. The exhibition will include specialised sections, notably the Entrepreneurs' Corner, Innovation Corner, Handicraft and Manual Workshops Corner, and the Young Entrepreneur Corner, which showcases children's talents and products. The exhibition will also feature the "Sohar International Competition," aiming to enhance display quality, highlight product identity, and encourage entrepreneurs towards excellence and creativity. The exhibition serves as a significant platform for promoting entrepreneurship in Oman and stimulating innovation and economic diversification across different governorates. This falls within the Chamber's efforts to support the private sector and empower Omani entrepreneurs.

Workshop held on tax obligations for private companies in Al Dakhiliyah
Nizwa: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in cooperation with the Tax Authority, on Wednesday organised a workshop titled: "Tax Rights and Obligations Applicable to Private Companies and Establishments." The workshop aimed to educate private sector representatives on key tax obligations and applicable regulations in the Sultanate of Oman. It sought to enhance compliance with the tax system, thereby contributing to financial stability and promoting the sustainability of public revenues. The workshop covered several topics presented by specialists from the Tax Authority, including Oman's tax system, income tax, excise tax, and value-added tax (VAT). Additionally, the workshop provided detailed explanations of the registration procedures within the tax system, the duties of companies, and the mechanisms for submitting tax returns. This workshop is part of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's efforts, in collaboration with the Tax Authority, to raise tax awareness within the business community and foster a compliance-friendly environment that keeps pace with the evolving economic and financial system in the Sultanate of Oman.

Omani govt delegation reviews Dhofar industrial growth
Salalah – A joint delegation from Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority; and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a field visit to several factories in Dhofar on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to support industrial development and enhance local content. The visit included industries within Salalah Free Zone, Madayn and Dhofar Industrial Zone. Officials reviewed production processes, discussed key achievements, and explored areas for development and innovation across various manufacturing sectors. The delegation held discussions with factory representatives to understand existing challenges, identify growth opportunities, and explore mechanisms to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors. The visit aligned with objectives of the National Industrial Strategy and aimed to increase local added value in the manufacturing sector, the ministry stated. Khalid bin Salim al Qassabi, Director General of Industry at Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said such field visits provide an opportunity for direct dialogue with factory owners and workers. 'These visits help us understand the realities on the ground, listen to the concerns of manufacturers, and identify practical solutions that promote industrial networking and growth.'
