Gujrat tourist dies in paragliding mishap in Dharamshala
The deceased has been identified as Satish from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, they added. He was on a tandem flight and fell during take-off along with his pilot who also sustained injuries. Their paraglider crashed on the site. This is the second such incident in Dharamshala this year in which a tourist was killed in a paragliding mishap.
The incident occurred around 4 pm on Sunday. Police officials said that the tourist was on a trip with his cousin in Dharamshala. The injured tourist was first taken to Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala from where he was referred to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda in Kangra, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Kangra district tourism development officer Vinay Dhiman said, 'The preliminary inquiry suggests that the tandem flight's take-off was done from a site which is not notified, which is a complete violation of HP Aero-Sports Rules 2022, and the order of the high court wherein it has been mentioned that no site can be operated without a marshal. Neither this site is notified, nor was there any marshal present there. We have asked the sub-divisional regulatory authority, Dharamshala, to take cognisance of the incident. We have issued show-cause notices to both pilot and the operator and appropriate action will be taken as per the law after their response is received.'
Meanwhile, police officials also said that they are investigating the incident.
Earlier this year, a 19-year-old female tourist also died in a paragliding accident on January 19 while taking-off at the Indrunag paragliding site in Dharamshala.

Panchkula police arrest 2 for duping elderly man in digital arrest scam
Panchkula: The police arrested two individuals for allegedly duping an elderly man of Rs 57.9 lakh by 'digitally arresting' them. The accused posed as officials from the Hyderabad Police headquarters and convinced the victim that he was being digitally arrested for involvement in a money laundering case. The investigation, led by SI Saurabh Singh and under the supervision of cyber SHO Yudhveer, led to the arrest of the accused individuals, Manish and Amit, both residents of Dadoli village, Hisar. Both accused have been remanded to five days of police custody, where officials will investigate their mobile phones, bank accounts, digital transactions, and connections with other accomplices involved in the scam. According to the victim, 83-year-old Rajendra, a retired HMT employee from Sector 16, Panchkula, the fraud began on Jan 16 when he received a WhatsApp video call from a person claiming to be an officer from the Hyderabad Police headquarters. The caller informed Rajendra that he was implicated in a serious money laundering case and needed to be in Hyderabad within two hours. When the elderly man expressed his inability to travel, the scammer showed him a video of a person named 'Goyal', who fled abroad after committing fraud. Rajendra was told that his Aadhaar card was linked to the fraud and that he was digitally arrested. The scammers continued to manipulate the victim's fear, threatening him with grave consequences if he informed anyone. They kept him under mental control for three days, during which they convinced him to transfer a total of Rs 57,90,000 from his various bank accounts.

Criminal wanted for firing at Gaya doc injured in encounter, held
Gaya: A suspected criminal, Satish, alias Chandan, wanted in connection with an attack on a Sherghati-based doctor in Gaya district on July 19, was injured during an encounter with police at Hasanpur village in the area late on Monday night. Satish was also arrested along with his two associates, Vikki Kumar and Ashish Kumar. Police recovered a country-made pistol, two cartridges, an empty cartridge, a mobile phone and a bike. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar said on Tuesday, "Acting on intelligence and technical inputs, a police team conducted raids at village Hasanpur late on Monday. On seeing the police force, three suspects, riding a bike, tried to speed off. But they fell down after the bike lost control. One among them fired at the police team while trying to escape. The police team retaliated in self-defence, during which Satish was shot in the right leg. The injured man was taken into custody and sent to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya, for treatment," he said. The SSP added on the basis of several CCTV camera footage, technical and physical evidences, Satish was found to be the main conspirator in the incident of firing on Dr Tapeshwar Singh. Raids are being conducted to arrest the other accused, the SSP said.

UPPSC issues dos and donts for RO/ARO exam
1 2 Prayagraj: Authorities of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) have intensified preparations for the review officer (RO)/assistant review officer (ARO) preliminary exam 2023 scheduled on July 27 at 2,382 centres spread over 75 districts across the state. Commission's secretary Ashok Kumar issued a detailed instructions to all exam centres regarding the examination. According to the guidelines, the duty allocation of room invigilators will be decided by the static magistrate on a random basis 2 hours before the exam. "Candidates are allowed to enter the exam hall from 8am, one and a half hours before the exam, which officially begins at 9.30am. Entry will be strictly closed at 8.45am, 45 minutes before the commencement of the exam. To maintain exam discipline and security, candidates covering their faces are barred from entering the examination rooms," said officials. Only on-duty personnel such as centre administrators, static magistrates, sector magistrates, and commission officials were permitted at the exam centres. The original and preserved copies were sealed in tamper-proof polybag envelopes to ensure security. The examination will be conducted for 3 hours and candidates are required to answer 200 questions, including 140 on general studies and 60 on general Hindi. The examination incorporates a negative marking scheme, where one-third mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. In Prayagraj district alone, 106 examination centres have been established to accommodate total 46,032 registered candidates. Several institutions were allocated two centres each to manage the large number of candidates. Notably, the centres also included prominent educational institutions such as the Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University in Faizabad and Prof. Rajendra Singh Rajju Bhaiya University in Naini, along with some CBSE-affiliated schools.
