He said the State police, with assistance from CRPF, CoBRA, Jharkhand's Jaguar, and Odisha's SOG and District Voluntary Force (DVF), had launched the search operation in the nearby forests on the night of May 27. He lauded the security forces for their dedicated efforts in recovering the explosives.
'So far, we have recovered three-fourths of the explosives looted by Maoists and are optimistic about recovering the remaining explosives. The search operation is underway,' the DGP said.
Earlier, DIG (Western Range) Brijesh Rai said the security personnel recovered 1,000 kg of explosives on Tuesday night. On Monday, around 2.5 tonnes of explosives were recovered, he said, adding that the explosives were buried in the dense jungle. A group of 25-30 Maoists robbed a truck transporting explosives to Banko stone quarry in K Balang area on May 27. 'The search operation is underway in the dense forests of adjoining Jharkhand,' Rai said.
Meanwhile, Odisha Police arrested the owner of an explosive warehouse, Sraban Agarwal, and the driver of the truck, on Tuesday. Replying to a question, the DGP admitted that the SOP meant for carrying explosives was not adhered to when the incident took place. He said the police will inspect various magazines where explosives are stored in the three mineral-rich police districts of Sundargarh, Rourkela and Keonjhar. 'We will ensure that the SOP is adhered to while storing and transporting explosives,' he added.

Jamshedpur: The security forces in West Singhbhum have unearthed cash Rs 34.99 lakh from the Saranda forest on Sunday. The currency notes were stashed in steel tiffin boxes and safely hidden under the ground. The SP, Rakesh Ranjan, has said that the money, which belonged to the Naxalites group, was collected by the ultras in the form of levy over a period of time. He said that money was meant for purchasing firearms and explosives to target the security forces engaged in the anti naxal operation in the district. CAPF personnel injured during operations will get full benefits till retirement: Union Home Secretary
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel who get severely injured during operations and have to undergo amputation will be allowed to continue in service till their retirement with all benefits, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan said on Sunday (July 27, 2025). Mr. Mohan said the government will ensure the best medical facilities and technology available in the world for 'limb replacement surgery' for CAPF officials and jawans and it will be ensured that loss of limbs is corrected as far as possible. 'Government will also ensure a minimum financial package for such personnel, and they will be accommodated in the organisation,' Mr. Mohan said, while addressing the 87th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi. CAPF personnel have to adhere to certain physical standards for timely promotion and services. At least five CRPF personnel were grievously injured during the 21-day anti-Maoist operations on Chhattisgarh-Telangana border that concluded on May 11. Named 'Operation Black Forest', the combing operations were carried out in the Karegutta Hills (KGH). Hardships in the line of duty The Home Secretary added that a large number of CRPF personnel, including women, are deployed for law-and-order duty in Manipur after an ethnic conflict erupted in the State in May 2023. He said that during his recent visit to the State, he noticed that the personnel have to move from one location to another and face various hardships due to lack of adequate facilities. 'CRPF Director General has been asked to submit a report on the facilities required for the jawans, particularly women. Home Ministry will ensure best facilities,' Mr. Mohan said. He added that efforts are also underway to improve the living conditions at the camps in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. 'CRPF is playing a key role in ending LWE menace before March 2026,' he said, adding that 149 forward operating bases have been operationalised in LWE areas, forcing Maoists to retreat. The official said that LWE is on the verge of its end in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. He said that Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned at the National Security Strategies Conference on Sunday (July 27, 2025) that India's rising stature would lead to security challenges and the CAPFs would play an important role in thwarting those challenges.

Udaipur Files row: Producer Amit Jani accorded CRPF Y-category security; had alleged threats to his life

The security cover will be applicable in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, officials told news agency ANI. Jani, who also heads the Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Sena, a right-wing outfit, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for the decision. "Heartfelt thanks to honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and home minister Shri Amit Shah ji for providing Y-category security from the Center," he wrote on X. Udaipur Files is based on the 2022 killing of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan — a murder which drew national outrage. Originally scheduled to release on July 11, the film ran into legal and censorship issues. It will now release on August 8. The Delhi high Court dad earlier stayed Udaipur Files' release despite censor board clearance, citing potential risks to communal harmony.
