Oasis sends fans ‘Supersonic' as long-awaited reunion tour starts in Cardiff
One fan banner summed it up: 'The great wait is over.'
After a montage of headlines about the sparring siblings was capped with the words 'the guns have fallen silent,' Oasis appeared on stage to a deafening roar, opening with the apt 'Hello' and its refrain of 'it's good to be back.'

The brothers had a brief hand-in-hand moment but largely kept their distance onstage. Noel, 58, focused on his guitar while a parka-clad Liam, 52, snarled into the microphone with a swagger that has not dimmed in the 31 years since the band released its first album, 'Definitely Maybe.'
A crowd of more than 60,000 in the Principality Stadium was treated to a well-paced two-hour set that drew heavily on the first album and its 1995 followup, '(What's the Story) Morning Glory,' alongside a smattering of later tracks and fan-favorite B-sides.
Songs like 'Supersonic,' 'Roll With It' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' sounded as thunderous as ever and sparked mass sing-alongs.
'Put your arms over each other like you love each other,' a tambourine-clutching Liam exhorted the crowd before launching into 'Cigarettes and Alcohol.'

There was poignancy on 'Live Forever' when an image of Liverpool Football Club player Diogo Jota, who was killed in a car crash on Thursday, was projected above the band.
Noel took his turn on lead vocals for several songs, including the touching 'Half the World Away,' and the show ended with encores featuring some of Oasis' most enduring tracks: 'Don't Look Back in Anger,' 'Wonderwall' and 'Champagne Supernova.' The brothers shared a half-hug as they ended the final song.
Multicolored, sometimes faintly psychedelic, projections formed the main technological accoutrement to a show where the focus was squarely on the songs. There was little banter, though Liam paused between songs to check the audience was having a good time.
'Was it worth the 40,000 pounds you paid for the ticket?' he quipped at one point, referring to the scramble for seats that saw some fans pay hundreds to see a show.
From the roar of response, it was.
'Absolutely incredible — best gig I've ever been to in my life,' said Nathan Price-Gearey as fans poured out of the stadium.
'It was massive,' said Millie Anderson, another satisfied concertgoer. 'When they played 'Stand by Me,' I started sobbing my eyes out.'
'Very, very special'
The show in Cardiff kicked off a 19-date Live '25 tour in the U.K. and Ireland. Then come stops in North America, South America, Asia and Australia, ending in Sao Paulo on Nov. 23.
The streets around the stadium filled before the concert with fans who gathered in groups to sing along to the band's hits and snapped up Oasis-branded bucket hats at 35 pounds ($48) each.

'It's very, very special — emotional," said 44-year-old Rob Maule from Edinburgh, Scotland, who came with three childhood friends. 'For us, it's a generational thing. It's a chapter of our lives. And then the second generation, as people are taking their kids. It's really special.'
Vicki Moynehan came from Dorchester, in southwest England. She said her life has changed since she bought her ticket almost a year ago.
'Seven months pregnant — ain't gonna stop me,' she said.
Sing-along rock choruses
Founded in the working-class streets of Manchester, England, in 1991, Oasis was one of the dominant British acts of the 1990s, releasing eight U.K. No. 1 albums.
The band's sound was fueled by sing-along rock choruses and the combustible chemistry between guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher — a Beatles and glam rock-loving musician with a knack for memorable tunes — and younger brother Liam.
Then and since, the brothers have often traded barbs — onstage, in the studio and in interviews. Liam once called Noel 'tofu boy,' while Noel branded his brother 'the angriest man you'll ever meet. He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup.'
After a backstage bust up at a concert in France in 2009, they long resisted pressure to reunite, even with the promise of a multimillion-dollar payday.
Now they have agreed on a tour that sees them joined by former Oasis members Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs and Gem Archer on guitar, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Joey Waronker.
'An absolute unbelievable blast'
The announcement of the U.K. tour in August sparked a ticket-buying frenzy, complete with error messages, hourslong online queues, dashed hopes and anger at prices that surged at the last minute.
The ticketing troubles sparked questions in the U.K. Parliament and an investigation by Britain's competition regulator. It has threatened Ticketmaster — which sold around 900,000 Oasis tickets — with legal action.

No plans have been announced for Oasis to record any new music, and the tour is being presented as a one-off.
Music writer John Aizlewood said that it's an opportunity for Oasis to 'tend the legacy' of the band, and remind people of the power of the Oasis brand.
'There should be a sense of huge joy and life affirmation about these shows. And I think if they can just play it right, then that can be a massive burnishing of their legacy,' he said. '(There is) this enduring love for Oasis — and love means money.'
Fans were determined to enjoy the moment.
'I'm the oldest sibling of four brothers, so I know they'll fall out,' said Stephen Truscott, from Middlesbrough in northeast England before the show. '(But) the first night, they're going to have an absolute unbelievable blast. It's going to be the best.'

Noel Gallagher's Ex Meg Mathews Reveals Real Reason She Left Oasis Gig Early
Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Mathews has spoken out after her decision to leave Oasis' comeback show early on Friday night ended up making headlines. On Friday night, Meg was in attendance when Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher performed their first gig as Oasis since 2009, kicking off a much-hyped reunion tour. However, The Mirror reported that she left the concert during the encore, shortly before the brothers performed Wonderwall, a song for which she is widely believed to have been the inspiration. While much was made in the tabloid press about the fact Meg chose this moment as her cue to leave the gig, she has since insisted she simply wanted to duck out before the end to avoid the 'carnage' of leaving the stadium at the same time as everyone else. Posting on Instagram the following morning, Meg echoed the sentiments of critics by giving the gig 'five stars' and saying that she 'loved every minute'. 'It was worth the countdown,' she added, before turning her attention to 'all the f**king papers' commenting on her early exit. Meg wrote: '[I left during] the encore as I have left many a stadium at the end and it's carnage. But yes, I could hear Wonderwall as I walked to my car!' 'Happy now?' she added. View this post on Instagram A post shared by 🖤𝕄𝔼𝔾 𝕄𝔸𝕋ℍ𝔼𝕎𝕊 🖤 (@megmathewsofficial_) Noel and Meg were married for four years between 1997 and 2001, and share a daughter, 25-year-old Anaïs Gallagher. He also has two sons, 17-year-old Donovan and 14-year-old Sonny, with his second wife, Sara McDonald, from whom he split up in 2022. Oasis kicked off their comeback tour with two shows in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday, with dates currently scheduled in Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin across July and August. The brothers will then take the tour overseas to Canada, the USA and Mexico, before arriving in South America and Asia later in the year. Oasis Live Reviews: What Are Critics Saying About The Gallagher Brothers' Comeback Shows?
Anyone feeling a little nervous about Oasis' comeback shows can do a massive exhale – as the group's first reunion performances received a unanimous wave of praise over the weekend. In a moment that many music fans thought might never happen, Liam and Noel Gallagher performed together for the first time in decades on Friday night, for the first in a string of Oasis shows scheduled for the rest of this year. The first tour dates took place in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday night, with the shows getting glowing feedback, including a run five-star reviews. Here's a quick glimpse at everything that's been said about Oasis' first performances since their reunion so far… 'This is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century. Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.' 'The band sound, to use Liam's favourite phrase, absolutely biblical. Within half an hour, we're through Acquiesce, Morning Glory, Supersonic and Cigarettes & Alcohol at tremendous volume. Oasis' arsenal of generation-defining hits is hardly a secret, but when confronted with them one after another like this, it was truly overwhelming and didn't let up for over two hours.' 'This is playlist Oasis, with their later fallow years ignored almost completely – and that makes for a ferociously powerful set to an utterly adoring crowd.' 'All the hits, precious little slack and a casual brotherly hug as they leave. 'Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?' Liam asks at one point, and the most gouged among us howls the affirmative. To a reviewer who saw Oasis both at Knebworth and on many a post-'90s slogathon, this is the best they've been since '96. Some might say better.' 'I don't think anyone who managed to get their hands on a ticket for this reunion could feel short changed. Because really it was a reunion between an audience and their favourite band, a reunion between Britain and rock and roll.' 'Although they came out hand in hand, there were few other signs of chemistry between the brothers, who never addressed one another during the two-and-a-quarter hour show. But just hearing them harmonise again, after all the animosity and the turbulent waters under the bridge, was hugely emotional.' 'In the 5,795 days since the Gallagher brothers last played a gig together, pretty much everything in the world – fashion, music, politics – has changed beyond all recognition. But thankfully no one told Oasis who, tonight, transported us back to a time when a working-class guitar band playing straight-up rock'n'roll with attitude could rule the world, and maybe change it just a little.' 'Spine-tingling stuff. This will not shock you, but Oasis are sounding loud. Very loud, indeed. With the roof closed at the Principality Stadium, the sound was ginormous, with every inch of this 74,500-capacity arena being filled completely.' 'Liam and Noel have never been in better form – both vocally and instrumentally – and from the looks on their faces the enormity of the final adventure they've embarked on felt overwhelmingly real.' They both agree it's a weird art project, and they want to know who Miss Sunshine is. Luna (Lisa Yamada) paces while Ms. Dylan (Sydney Bullock) begs for her life. She did what Luna asked. She doesn't want Luna to hurt her or Steffy. Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) is at Il Giardino. She's thinking about Luna having a gun and what that could mean. Grace (Cassandra Creech) paces Finn's office. She thinks Liam needs to make a decision about his treatment soon, before it's too late. Liam (Scott Clifton) is at Forrester Creations returning one of Beth's toys. Hope (Annika Noelle) asks how he's doing. He knows it's a matter of time before the kids know what's going on. Hope still can't accept that there's a chance he won't be there for much longer. Finn knows that Liam's condition is inoperable, but he isn't sure about the treatment. Grace says she knows Liam wants to be here for his kids, but he can't keep putting off the decision. He has to decide what he wants to do. Liam reminds Hope that she hasn't gotten rid of him yet, and she begs him not to make light of it all. She reminds him that Eric beat the odds, so why can't he? Liam says he's praying for a miracle, but right now he's concerned about the kids, her and Steffy. That's all he cares about. Sheila thinks back to the conversation she had with Luna, as she said that Steffy stands in the way of having a relationship with Finn. Luna gets her rope as Ms. Dylan begs her not to hurt Steffy. Taylor asks if there were any details about Miss Sunshine. Steffy says Ms. Dylan wanted to talk to her in person. Steffy is eager to get to the bottom of the strange fortune teller with the disturbing art. Grace asks Finn to talk to Liam that day. She reveals that the tumor has grown so 'time is of the essence.' If they don't act, it will be too late. Liam tells Hope that he's spending his time exactly the way he wants. With her, Steffy and the girls. But Hope reminds him that there are other people who love him, like his brothers and Bill. He admits he loves his father despite their difficult relationship. He asks if she thinks he's being selfish. She doesn't; she knows he has a good heart and he's trying to protect people, but this is different. Liam gets a reminder on his phone to take his meds. Hope asks if he's taking the medicine consistently as prescribed. She wants to know that he's staying on top of his meds, and he says he wants as much time as he can get. Sheila thinks back to saying goodbye to Luna, who said she's 'going out with a bang.' She pulls out her phone and tries calling Finn. She leaves a message that it's important for him to call. Luna ties up Ms. Dylan and tells her not to make any noise, especially when Steffy gets there. Steffy wraps up a call with Finn before she leaves. She thanks Taylor for watching Hayes, who wants her to be careful. Once she leaves, Taylor looks at the drawing again in concern. At the hospital, Grace gets off a heated call, and Finn asks if she's ok. 'Nothing I can't handle,' she assures him. She tells Finn that she put together a treatment plan with a group of specialists. By not making a decision, he's making everything worse. Hope is shocked about what happened with Luna, Will, Finn and Steffy. She can't believe this, and she feels terrible for Steffy that Luna is on the loose. Liam says this is why he's so worried. In Malibu, Sheila knocks on the door. Taylor doesn't want to let her in, but Sheila says it's an emergency. She can't get through to Finn. She says it's about Luna. There's something they need to know. Steffy arrives at the beach house and calls for Ms. Dylan. No one is there. She looks around at the art on the walls as Luna sneaks in and locks the door behind her. Finn hears what Grace is saying, and he promises to talk to Liam. When Grace gets another message that upsets her, he asks if she's ok. He asks if she needs a day off, reminding her that he's heard 'the stories' and he's there if she needs to talk. Hope says they will remain vigilant, and Luna won't get to them. Sheila reminds Taylor that she's been keeping her distance, and now she's the only one Luna has. When Taylor tells her about Luna pulling a gun on Will, Sheila is shocked. She tells Taylor what Luna said as she was leaving, about going out with a bang, and she thinks Steffy could be in grave danger. Luna says Steffy is making her suffer by keeping her away from her father. She says Hayes is very talented, holding up a piece of origami. When Steffy realizes that Luna was Miss Sunshine, Luna says she's going to make Steffy listen to her and she's finally going to see her father.
