Tourist on holiday in Spanish resort finds empty sunbeds for unexpected reason
Many Brits like to go away on European beach holidays at this time of year seeking sun and hot weather that we don't get a lot of in the UK in summer. It's not unusual for it to rain and be a bit cold in Britain during this season and there might even be strong winds and storms, like Storm Floris that hit the UK on Monday, August 4.
This dreary weather is what prompts Brits to get on a plane and take a flight to holiday destinations in Europe, including Spain, Greece and Italy. Plenty of tourists dream of laying on a sunbed around a pool with the sun beaming down on them and there have been multiple reports of 'sunbed wars' in resorts.
However, when Kieran Chapman, known for starring on Married at First Sight in 2024, stayed at a resort in Palma, Majorca he didn't have to wait for a free sunbed at all.
He shared a clip on TikTok showing that they were all empty due to the unexpected heavy rain.
Despite this, the TV star still lounged on a sunbed and seemed to enjoy the very wet weather as he laid down in a relaxed position with his eyes closed.
Palma is the capital city of Majorca, Spain and the largest of the Balearic Islands. It is popular for its beaches, nightlife and climate as it is often sunny and warm in the summer months with little rain so it appears that Kieran got unlucky with the weather.
The TikTok video shows that the celebrity, from Newcastle, didn't mind getting soaked by the pouring rainfall.
No other guests at the resort can be seen in the clip so Kieran, who is a mechanic, got to enjoy some peace and quiet without letting the British style weather ruin his time.
The post has no audio apart from the viral Jet2holidays voiceover meme that has been added to many funny travel videos on TikTok.
Kieran's clip has garnered 362,800 views, 16,200 likes and more than 200 comments, at the time of writing.
Viewers found humour in the video as one said: 'The rays still get to you through the clouds.'
Another added: 'When you're used to English weather.' While a third chimed in: 'That's probably more relaxing than lying in the hot sun.'
Someone else commented: 'No towels on the sun beds, get innnn.' A fifth had a similar thought as they remarked: 'At least there's no queues for the chairs.'
Others left comments, such as 'this made me laugh', 'making the most of it' and 'I'm actually howling.'
The Newcastle mechanic isn't the first holidaymaker to experience this as others have been met with rain in hotspots that are usually sunny and shared similar clips on social media.

Holiday hotspot loved by Brits hit with FCDO warning including tourist hotels
Despite its overwhelming glitz and glam, one popular holiday destination has been stung with a stark travel warning from the FCDO - here's everything you need to know An insatiably popular holiday destination has been slapped with a stark travel warning, following escalating tensions. Back in the 70s, the United Arab Emirates was seemingly worlds away from entering the tourist spotlight, mostly known for its lucrative oil industry and harsh deserts. However, in recent years - the country has turned into one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world. Cities such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai have rapidly transformed themselves into vibrant metropolises, home to impressive skyscrapers, huge shopping malls, pristine beaches and luxury resorts. Despite its poor track record when it comes to human rights - especially amongst migrant workers - and freedom of expression, the UAE has become a bucket-list destination for Brits. However, tourists are now being urged to think twice before heading to the hotspot. The warning comes after a couple planned a Morocco trip 'to sacrifice their five-year-old son in desert'. Last week (August 2) the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its advice on travelling to the UAE. Here, it warned that terrorists are 'likely to try to carry out attacks' in the country. "Terrorists continue to issue statements threatening to carry out attacks in the Gulf region. These include references to attacks on western interests, including against UK citizens," the body states under its 'Safety and Security' page. "Due to increasing regional tensions, Israeli and Jewish linked sites could be targets for terrorists in the UAE." However, potential targets for terrorist activity aren't just aimed at military sites and large infrastructure. The FCDO warns that the following may be subject to an attack following increasing conflict in the area: Residential compounds Military sites Oil Transport Aviation interests Crowded places Restaurants Hotels Beaches Shopping centres Places of worship "Maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places and at public events," the body added. The FCDO also warns about risks including sexual assault, drink and food spiking, property scams, as well as strict alcohol rules. You can read the full report here. While there are no travel warnings against visiting the country for either business or leisure, the FCDO urges Brits to stay up to date with events in the region following the ceasefire between Israel and Iran which began on June 24. It recommends monitoring local and international media for the 'latest information' and always checking to see if any transport disruption is still occurring. If you're heading to the UAE this summer, it's worth checking the FCDO's travel page before you fly. Closer to home, there's a warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain.

Coronation Street to welcome new family who will run Rovers Return
Catherine Tyldesley's character Eva Price, who was last seen on the show in 2018, will return alongside her latest partner and his mother, who are both new to the cobbles. Shameless actor Aaron McCusker stars as Eva's partner Ben Driscoll, with Father Ted's Pauline McLynn playing his interfering mother Maggie. Ben's two sons and Eva's daughter Suzie will also be joining the cast. Residents will discover that Eva and Ben are the new landlords in October, more than seven years after Eva stopped pulling pints to start a new life in France with her daughter. Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said: 'We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. 'The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore. To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline's considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can't wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. 'Strap yourselves in, it's going to be an exciting and eventful ride.' A host of stars have left the British soap this year including Sue Cleaver, who spent 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw. Among the others who have left are Colson Smith, who played Craig Tinker on the ITV soap opera, and Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe.
