'Being Aaron's twin, I can be this voice for him. This is what happened behind the scenes, here is the truth,' Angel says in the trailer.
Aaron died on Nov. 5, 2022, at the age of 34 when he was found unresponsive in the bath, Leslie died in 2012 at the age of 25 and Bobbie Jean (B.J.) passed away in 2023 at the age of 41; all three deaths were the result of accidental drug overdoses. Music fans previously got to know all five Carter siblings in an unscripted reality series, House of Carters, that aired in 2006 on E! and Much Music.
Frye, who starred in the '80s sitcom, Punky Brewster, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that she was 'so inspired' after meeting Angel.
'I feel that Angel really knew that Aaron, in his healthiest state, would have wanted to have the opportunity to help others… And before B.J. passed away, she said: 'Please make sure that our story is told.''
Frye continues, The family's story was so tragic, and there was so much pain. And yet through that pain, it was so clear to me that that Angel was really finding her purpose. That purpose was taking that heartache and pain and finding light.'
The Paramount+ documentary is among the latest unscripted series examining child stardom and the heartbreaking costs of fame. Home Alone actor Macauley Culkin recently urged Investigation Discovery (which previously released the docuseries Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter, Hollywood Demons and Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV) to 'take it easy' on child stars.

REVIVAL Recap: (S01E04) Run Along Little Lamb
Revival Season 1 Episode 4, 'Run Along Little Lamb,' kicks the overarching narrative into high gear as the floodgates open on the Em murder case. We get some much-needed answers while new questions take center stage. For example, if Aaron merely knocked Em unconscious, who actually killed her? Also, who took out Aaron and shot Dana/Em? 'Run Along Little Lamb' is another entertaining outing that delves deeper into the mystery at hand. RELATED: Read our recap of the previous Revival episode, 'Reality Check' Revival, 'Run Along Little Lamb' We open with Nithiya (Gia Sandhu) sleeping on her couch. She wakes, hearing someone in her home. She assumes it's Aaron. However, we see a figure in black, complete with matching leather gloves, rummaging through Aaron's office. Said person uncovers a flash drive and pockets it. They zip past Nithiya, who jumps back in fear. Then, May (Katharine King So) finds the flash drive on the passenger seat of her car. After this, we cut to a room with newspaper clippings regarding Rose Blackdeer's death. If you recall, we learned in the pilot that Dana worked on that case. The camera zeroes in on a bottle of oxycodone prescribed to Em. The person who stole the flash drive from Aaron removes their ski mask. It's Jesse Blackdeer (Brandon Oakes), the man who came back to life in the incinerator at the crematorium. Don't Fling My Sister Later, Nella (Lanette Ware) discovers Em's phone on the ground outside her bar. Em (Romy Weltman) and Rhodey (Kaleb Horn) are at Dana's house. Dana (Melanie Scrofano) emerges in her uniform. Naturally, as the big sister, she's suspicious of Rhodey. Dana whips out Em's phone, wondering why Em discarded it. RELATED: Revival : Co-Creators Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce on Crafting 'Weird' New Series The conversation pivots to Blaine. Em discloses her memory of him being on the bridge the night she died. Dana decides to confront Blaine herself. She makes Em promise to steer clear of him. Of course, Em is a Cypress — Cypresses are gonna Cypress, ya know? She and Rhodey trail Dana to Blaine's towing business. Dana questions Blaine (Steven Ogg). Yes, he was on the bridge, but he didn't kill Em. REVIVAL — 'Run Along Little Lamb' Season 1 Episode 4 — Pictured: (l-r) Romy Weltman as Martha 'Em' Cypress, Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress, Steven Ogg as Blaine Abel — (Photo by: Lavivier Productions/SYFY) Blaine recounts that night. He was called to tow a vehicle near the bridge. He noticed Em there, and that she was very high. Then, he left with said vehicle and took it to Alonzo's. That's it. Em and Rhodey appear. Em decides to conduct her own interrogation. Blaine assumes she saw an explosion that night — a bright light that lit up the sky. Em was in close proximity to it. Blaine vehemently insists she witnessed it. No Revivers Allowed Dana and Rhodey urge homeboy to back up when he gets too close, looming above Em. Then, he recites some religious zealot rhetoric before retreating to his lair. After this, Dana impresses the importance of doing this the right way. She must solve Em's murder by utilizing the proper channels and adhering to protocol. Em understands. RELATED: Revival 's Romy Weltman on Becoming Em and Working With Melanie Scrofano Next, we hear an announcement regarding Revivers. Their IDs will now bear a stamp identifying them as Revivers. We see a pawn shop put up a 'No Revivers Allowed' sign. Later, Wayne (David James Elliott) winds up on Rhodey's doorstep. He's surprised to see Em there. Wayne reveals that he's tracking down any Revivers without that special ID stamp. He's not thrilled that Em is seeing a Reviver. He asks for Rhodey's ID before stamping it himself. REVIVAL — 'Run Along Little Lamb' Season 1 Episode 4 — Pictured: Steven Ogg as Blaine Abel — (Photo by: Lavivier Productions/SYFY) Then, Wayne urges Em to attend her first anger management session, which is the following morning. He claims Em is lucky that the woman she headbutted in Nella's bar isn't pressing charges. Wayne ensured Em got off with a slap on the wrist due to his status as sheriff. After Wayne leaves, Em makes a beeline for the bathroom. How to Deal Meanwhile, Cooper (Hudson Wurster) and Jordan (Flora McInroy) hang out in the tent in the woods. They're listening to the radio. Suddenly, the radio cuts out. Jordan hears strange noises seemingly emanating from the woods. A light flickers outside. She reaches out her hand as fingers or claws or hooves — which might not be of this world — touch the tent's exterior. Cooper brings Jordan back to reality. RELATED: Revival : Check Out 9 First-Look Photos From Melanie Scrofano-Led Series At the Cypress household, Dana and Ibrahim (Andy McQueen) have a coffee and a chat. Ibrahim needs advice regarding Wayne. How does one deal with him? Ibrahim realizes that Wayne has the governor's ear. Not to mention, how Wausau is treating Revivers is unconscionable. Inhumane. Gotta love the striking real-life parallels as the US ostracizes, discriminates and strips rights from the marginalized. Anyway, Dana tells Ibrahim that Wayne loves to feel helpful. Keep him busy. He thinks what he's doing is right, even though singling out and potentially rounding up Revivers like cattle isn't the way to go about it. After this, Dana heads upstairs to ensure Cooper and Jordan are in bed. Jordan admits she doesn't sleep anymore, which garners harsh judgment from her parents. REVIVAL — 'Run Along Little Lamb' Season 1 Episode 4 — Pictured: (l-r) Andy McQueen as Ibrahim Ramin, Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress — (Photo by: Lavivier Productions/SYFY) Under the Rug Dana reassures Jordan that she's not a 'freak' at her house. Jordan is perfect just the way she is. Ibrahim eavesdrops on Dana's chat with Jordan and Cooper. He smiles. Then, Ibrahim asks Dana if she'd like to go out to dinner. Aw, look at these cute kids. RELATED: Revival : The Dead Have Rejoined the Living in Official Trailer Later, Mayor Dillisch's wife, Diane (Precious Chong), informs Wayne that she's a Reviver. She asks him to look the other way for her, as it were. After all, she and the mayor watched Dana and Em quite a bit in the wake of Patty's death. The Dillisches did a lot for him. Wayne refuses to let Diane fly under the radar, insisting he can't make exceptions for anyone. Next, Em arrives for her first anger management session … with Nithiya, who's a therapist. Nithiya admits she knows that Em is a Reviver. They chat about this for a spell. How does it make Em feel? At one point during the session, Nithiya goes into an unexpected coughing fit. Em apologizes, recalling her late mother's cancer battle. Nithiya is fighting it, too. She remarks that Em's mom must've been a strong woman. REVIVAL — 'Run Along Little Lamb' Season 1 Episode 4 — Pictured: (l-r) Romy Weltman as Martha 'Em' Cypress, Gia Sandhu as Nithiya Weimar — (Photo by: Lavivier Productions/SYFY) James Anderson Elsewhere, Dana marches into Alonzo's Auto Shop to chat with the proprietor, Alonzo (Massimo Cannistraro). Alonzo is still quite analog in his practices, refusing to use a computer. He corroborates Blaine's alibi. He did bring in a towed vehicle around 10 pm. Alonzo reveals that James Anderson rented the vehicle on the night of Em's murder before Blaine towed it. RELATED: TV Review: Resident Alien Season 4 Dana searches the car. She finds a parking stub for Wausau General Memorial Hospital on December 18, 2008, at 6:47 pm. Let it be known that I was aware that this show took place in the 2000s, but not in 2008. As a 2000s emo kid, this takes me back. Meanwhile, Rhodey gives Em her first massage. This leads to smooching. Rhodey insists they don't have to go further than that, but Em wants to. While they kiss, though, Em has a flashback to that night on the bridge. She recalls someone chloroforming her as they drag her away. This person had on that wedding band. At the same time, Blaine records his radio show. We hear him spew hateful rhetoric about Revivers as one Reviver, a sweet-looking older woman, happily exercises during a class. Afterward, two of Blaine's bros attempt to block the woman's passage. They intimidate her. Alibi Later, Dana chases another lead at the hospital. A nurse reveals their patient logs from December 18. Dana realizes that Nithiya was receiving chemo around the same time as what's on the parking stub. The nurse shares that Nithiya most likely went home around midnight. So, if the car was dropped off at 10 pm, that means Aaron is using his wife's chemo as an alibi. RELATED: 10 Out-of-This-World Predictions for Resident Alien Season 4 Dana knocks on Aaron and Nithiya's door. However, no one answers. As she leaves, we see the curtains part from inside. Meanwhile, Em and Rhodey visit a pawn shop with the mysterious wedding band. The owner is the one who refuses to serve Revivers. Rhodey claims he left his ID at home, so Em shows hers, which doesn't have the Reviver stamp. She asks the man if he has sold a wedding band to anyone lately. He reveals that one customer emailed him, claiming he needed to replace his wife's wedding ring. The pawn shop owner also shares the email address of this customer — it belongs to James Anderson. Em tells Rhodey that James is Aaron's TA. Uh-oh. RELATED: 10 Predictions for The Ark Season 3 If I Go Down Speaking of, Aaron (Gianpaolo Venuta) finds his office in disarray. He discovers the flash drive is gone. He calls his contact and gives them a stern talking-to for being in the house when Nithiya was home. Aaron tells the person on the other end that he kept up his end of the bargain. Then, he reminds them that he can take them down with him before hanging up. Later, Aaron burns some incriminating documents in the fireplace. Nithiya asks him what he's doing. He urges her to go to bed. He claims he's 'taking care of it.' Then, Em recalls an intimate moment between her and Aaron as she gives herself a badass haircut. Seriously, I try to trim the ends of my hair, and it looks disastrous. She should consider a future in hairdressing. After her sick punk upgrade, Em insists she's going to confront Aaron whether Rhodey likes it or not. She leaves him behind. RELATED: Read our Wynonna Earp recaps Date Night Elsewhere, Ibrahim arrives at the Cypress house to pick up Dana for their date. Then, Andrew (Matt Willis) and Adam (Joe Delfin) call their brother Anthony (CM Punk), who's in Hell's Kitchen, New York. Anthony is on a payphone. Anthony informs them that his boss is thrilled by the new business opportunity in Wausau. He wants the Check brothers to run it. REVIVAL — 'Run Along Little Lamb' Season 1 Episode 4 — Pictured: Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress — (Photo by: Naomi Peters/Lavivier Productions/SYFY) However, Anthony doesn't trust Andrew and Adam to oversee operations without him. So, they must smuggle Anthony back to Wausau. He asks Andrew if he still plays poker with 'that piece of sh*t Irish cop.' Anthony urges Andrew to overpay said cop and get him back on side. Then, one dude gets impatient while waiting to use the payphone. Anthony beats the snot out of him while still on the phone with Andrew. Anthony hangs up the receiver, which is covered in blood. Fun. At the same time, Aaron is on the phone with his contact again. He urges this person to ensure Nithiya is taken care of. RELATED: Geek Girl Authority Crush of the Week: SurrealEstate 's Susan Ireland Meanwhile, Dana instructs Ibrahim on where to go, although the latter would rather trust the GPS. Dana gets a text from Aaron, ordering her to go to the woods behind Pacer's. He'll tell her everything. So, Dana directs Ibrahim to drive to that location. Bullets Fly Next, Em confronts Aaron in the woods. Em demands to know the truth. Aaron insists he didn't mean to hurt her. Em starts choking him. At the same time, Ibrahim stops the car near the treeline. Dana whips out a gun. This is all standard first-date fare, right? Dana leaves him there. Em chokes Aaron for a few moments before releasing him. Aaron claims he didn't kill her. He took her from the bridge, but he didn't commit murder. He apologizes. Suddenly, someone shoots Aaron from a distance. He dies. RELATED: Read our Revival recaps Dana arrives after this. She checks Aaron's pulse, realizing he doesn't have one. She asks Em what happened. Then — another gunshot. Ibrahim hears it. This time, the bullet flies through Dana and Em. Unfortunately, only one of them is a self-healing Reviver, and it's not Dana. Em takes Dana's gun and fires at the shooter. A bullet strikes their right arm as they cry out. Netflix's New Releases Coming in July 2025
The return of Charlize Theron's band of immortals; another behind the scenes glimpse at the lives of NFL quarterbacks; a brand-new music talent series featuring one of Liam Payne's final TV appearances; the conclusion of The Sandman's story; a potential breakout Korean thriller; and the long-awaited return of Happy Gilmore are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in July. One of Netflix's big movie plays for July is the sequel to its very silly but very fun action fantasy film The Old Guard. Debuting on July 2, the Victoria Mahoney-directed film once again sees Charlize Theron playing Andromache of Scythia, aka Andy, the leader of a band of vigilante immortals. In The Old Guard 2, following on from the climax of the first film, Andy must come to terms with her newfound mortality while preparing to face a mysterious foe (played by Uma Thurman). The cast includes returnees KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and newcomers Thurman and Henry Golding. More from The Hollywood Reporter Netflix to Add NASA+ as It Launches Into Live Streaming Feeds 'Squid Game' Creator Weighs in on American Spinoff Reports and Explains That Surprise Cameo Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest Fall in Love Abroad in 'My Oxford Year' Trailer Quarterback, the sports docuseries, is back for its second season this month, debuting on July 8. The show, produced by Netflix in partnership with NFL Films, 2PM Productions, and Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions, is in the vein of the streamer's phenomenally successful Drive to Survive docuseries. Season one of Quarterback followed Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota through the 2022 season. Season two will see Cousins return, this time as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions. On July 9, Netflix debuts its new music competition series, Building the Band. The show was notably the last television appearance of the late One Direction singer Liam Payne, who died tragically in October 2024. Before his death, Payne recorded episodes as a guest judge on the series that is hosted by Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, with Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) serving as mentor-judge and Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland also serving as a guest judge. Following Payne's death, the show's producers and Payne's family were weighing his inclusion in the series. Ultimately, they have decided to move forward with Payne remaining in the show. Launching in three parts over the month of July is the second and final season of The Sandman, the fantasy series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's iconic graphic novels. Despite stellar reviews and decent ratings for season one, the followup and indeed the very existence of a second season hung in the balance as Gaiman was accused of sexual assault by five women in July 2024, and by four more women in January 2025. The second season will conclude the story for Dream (played by Tom Sturridge), the show's central character and part one will debut on July 3, with part two on July 24 with a special episode concluding things on July 31. Season two will feature a number of fan-favorite characters reprising their roles, including Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, and Patton Oswalt as the voice of Matthew the Raven. Jenna Coleman, Donna Preston, Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester, Barry Sloane, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Razane Jammal, Ruairi O'Connor, Freddie Fox, Clive Russell, Laurence O'Fuarain, Ann Skelly, Douglas Booth, Jack Gleeson, Indya Moore, and Steve Coogan also appear. A potential breakout film for Netflix this month could be the Korean psychological thriller Wall to Wall, which debuts on July 18. In demand filmmaker Kim Tae-joon, who wrote and directed the disturbing tech thriller Unlocked for the streamer, is back with another feature that is sure to linger with its audience. According to the logline, Wall to Wall is about 'Woo-sung, a financially burdened homeowner who struggles to find sleep and peace in what should be his dream home. When all his neighbors accuse him of being the source of the noise, he sets out to find the source himself and prove his innocence.' The other big Hollywood film release for Netflix in July, and the feature most likely to shoot up the top 10 list and dominate social media, is the sequel to Adam Sandler's classic and endlessly quotable golf comedy Happy Gilmore. The first film, released all the way back in 1996, featured Sandler as a failed hockey player with a knack for booming golf drives, and the Kyle Newacheck-directed sequel sees Happy picking up his clubs once more to pay for his daughter's school fees. As well as Sandler, Julie Bowen, Christopher 'Shooter McGavin' McDonald, and Ben Stiller reprise their roles from the original film while Benny Safdie and Bad Bunny are newcomers. Happy Gilmore 2 debuts on July 25. Movies added to Netflix in July include Blow, Born on the Fourth of July, Captain Phillips, The Deer Hunter, Friday Night Lights, Here Comes the Boom, The Hitman's Bodyguard, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Horrible Bosses, The Karate Kid, The Karate Kid, The Karate Kid Part II, The Karate Kid Part III, Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible II, Mission: Impossible III, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, The Notebook, Pacific Rim, The Sweetest Thing, Tangerine, V for Vendetta, White Chicks, Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge. Before Saving the Shop in ‘Tires' Season 2, Thomas Haden Church Hadn't Heard of the Show
Planes, Saddles and Automobiles. Thomas Haden Church began his acting career as the lovable airplane mechanic Lowell Mather on the beloved '90s NBC sitcom Wings. As Phil on Netflix comedy Tires season two, he's the one (gently) bossing the grease monkeys around, including his on-screen son Shane Gillis. More from The Hollywood Reporter Netflix Reveals First Look at 'Building The Band' Series, Confirms Liam Payne Guest Judge Role Netflix's Greg Peters on U.S. Tariffs, U.K. Levy Ideas, Why the Streamer Is More Sports Team Than Family 'Fixed': Genndy Tartakovsky's Long-Neutered R-Rated Dog Comedy Finally Gets Unleashed Church is happy to talk about being on both ends of the socket wrench, though really he's at his happiest relaying the cattle count on his Texas ranch. It's all good — I mostly wanted to talk about Tombstone (1993). How aware of were you? Not at all. And I had a connection with an executive at Rough House Pictures, Danny McBride's company (and a Tires production company), because I had another project that they were considering doing like three years ago — something that my partner and I had written. But I got to know this executive Brandon James, and he just reached out to me — it would have been, let's see, probably early September, because I was in London all last summer shooting a film for Netflix. And Brandon reached out to me, and he said, 'Hey, you know, we're doing this show Tires, and we're ramping up for the second season. Would you be interested in playing Shane Gillis' dad?' I knew who Shane was. I thought Shane was hilarious. And so they sent me some scripts and asked me to watch the show, which I did, and I really, really liked it. I really liked the chemistry. I read the scripts and then I jumped on a call with John McKeever and Steve Gerben — two of the guys that created the show with Shane — and we just had a great first meeting. And they just straight-out said, 'Look, dude, if it's going to be you, then we want to build the character of Phil with you — and Shane, obviously — but we all want to do it with you. Not for you, with you.' It was of the highest order of collaboration. I got there two weeks in advance, and every time they had a script meeting, I was there just pitching ideas and listening and really just becoming a cohesive gear in the machine. You came in for season two as Shane's dad, Phil. You dress great, you look great, you buy out Valley Forge Automotive to keep your son and nephew employed — how rich is Phil? He's got the kind of money where he can just show up and be like, 'I want to open half-a-dozen mattress stores, and I want you to manage them.' He's that guy. What was your response when you found out shoots in Westchester, Pennsylvania? That was absolutely a major attractant. I did (HBO's) Divorce for three seasons, but it felt like more than that. I lived in New York for the three seasons that we did, and I vowed that I would never do another TV series in New York. Of course, now that I've said that, it's out in the ether. Now I'm gonna get approached to do a series in New York. But I lived in L.A. for 12 years, and I did two television series in New York. Not terribly long after that, I just moved to Texas and I've been living [there] full time for 24 years now. I sold my house in L.A. in like 2001-2002 and just never looked back. You went back home. Yeah. The very first morning I was in L.A., there was like a 6.0 earthquake, and I was like, 'This is not for me.' As soon as I started working and making money, I almost immediately bought a home in Texas. I had a place in Austin for several years in the '90s, and then I sold that place and bought my ranch out here— we live about an hour from San Antonio, and then my ranch is about 90 minutes, give or take, from San Antonio. It's home. We grew up hunting with my dad, and the very first season of Wings, one of my brothers — who's an attorney in Dallas — was like, 'Do you ever think about deer hunting again?' And I was like, 'Yeah!' He said, 'Why don't we find a place to hunt?' And so we did. We found a ranch to hunt on that's about 20 miles from where I'm sitting right now — that was 35 years ago. And whenever I started hunting again, it just reignited my lifelong dream of owning a real cattle ranch and being a real cattle rancher. And I have been for 26 years. I've kind of downsized because I'm getting older, but I don't know, 10-15 years ago, we had about 400 head, which still not a big operation, but big enough that we were making money at it. You're a real cowboy, like your character Billy Clanton in . It wasn't easy to make that jump from TV in the '90s — especially for the guy who played Lowell — how did that come about? So, in the spring of '93 wings, Northern Exposure, Beverly Hills, 90210 and China Beach were all very popular shows, and when Tombstone was casting. The Disney execs apparently sent down to the producers and the writer/director some kind of a note that they wanted the movie to cast some television actors, and that's what they did. And they cast John Corbett (Northern Exposure), they cast Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210), myself (Wings), and Dana Delany (China Beach), and that's how I got into my first film. Well, I say Tombstone was my first film, but I had done a TV movie. It wasn't supposed to be a TV movie, but it ended up being a TV movie. I was working with Sam on (the TV movie) and we really hit it off. We were shooting one night, and I had gone in and met with with the [Tombstone] screenwriter Kevin Jarre and the director (George P. Cosmatos). It was just a meeting, it wasn't even an audition. We just talked about the Civil War, because I loved Glory (1989), which he wrote, and the Old West, because I'm kind of a little bit of an Old West history guy. Then I had to go back out to Palm Springs where we were shooting (the TV movie). That night — we were doing some night work — and Sam and I were standing there, and Sam goes, 'May need to get ya on the back of a horse.' I didn't get it. Again he said, 'May need to get ya on the back of a horse.' 'Oh, shit!' I got it. (Sam Elliott voice) 'Congratulations, Thomas, you deserve it.' And let me tell you something, I went to cowboy school on the back of Sam Elliott. Sam immediately got me with a wrangler friend of his who lived out there in the desert, and I started— every spare minute I had while I was shooting another movie, I would go out riding with this wrangler friend of Sam's. Then after I finished shooting that, Sam had a really good friend in West Texas who had a big ranch, and Sam, he literally told me, goes, 'You're going to go out there and you're going to work as a cowboy for them, because they're doing their their spring roundup — they're marking calves.' And that's what I did. I went out to cowboy on this huge ranch for a month, and then, literally, the day I finished, I drove back to Dallas, and I flew directly from Dallas to Tucson and went to work on Tombstone. When I showed up, I was pretty seasoned in the saddle. But we didn't do a lot of riding in Tombstone, that was always a little bit of a disappointment to me — because we were cowboys.
