Where can missing Brit have disappeared to after vanishing from sunbed while husband slept? Map shows Greek beach is surrounded by fields and huge fishing pond - as rescuers prepare to call off search
Greek authorities are still desperately searching for a missing British woman who vanished from her sunbed on a Greek beach while her husband was asleep. Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, had been swimming at Ofrynio beach in the city of Kavala at around noon on Friday before disappearing. The Police have been conducting a search on land for the tourist, while Greece 's Hellenic Coast Guard have been searching in the sea, but the central port authority in Kavala told the Daily Mail that rescuers might call off the operation by the end of the day on Monday. A Silver Alert was issued after the police failed to immediately locate the tourist and authorities have warned that she may be in danger. A map shows how the 17 kilometre long Greek beach where Bourda vanished after lounging on a sunbed is surrounded by expansive fields, residential houses and a huge fishing pond. Ms Bourda was last seen wearing a two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach shoes, and a pair of red sunglasses. It is understood she went to the beach in northern Greece with her husband, who was allegedly asleep when the she vanished. When he woke up, his wife was nowhere to be found, according to local media. She is described as being 5ft6in, of a slim build with blue eyes and shoulder length hair. Sources claim Ms Bourda's belongings were left behind on the beach after she vanished. The Greek missing persons charity, Lifeline Hellas, issued a Silver Alert on Saturday after the police were unable to locate her. 'Her life is in danger. If you know anything, contact the Silver Alert service, 24 hours a day, at the National SOS Line 1065,' the alert said. It comes after a 60-year-old British tourist went missing in June while on holiday in Greece. His hired car was found abandoned on the island of Karpathos in 38C heat and he was last seen by the owner of his rented accommodation on June 27. Meanwhile, fears are growing for a British woman who disappeared from a Spanish tourist hotspot last week. Jennifer Frances Lacey, 41, vanished from the municipality of Vera on Monday, July 28.

A 47-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a three-year-old girl in Leeds. Emergency services were called to Austhorpe Court in Leeds on Wednesday 30 July after a report of concern for the safety of a young child. Her body was found in the property alongside a woman who was taken to hospital for treatment and later arrested on suspicion of murder. Pippa McGrath, 47, has now been charged with the murder of the girl, West Yorkshire Police said. She remains in police custody and will appear at Leeds Magistrate's Court on Monday. In a statement, the force said: 'Detectives investigating the death of a three-year-old girl in Leeds have charged a woman with her murder. 'Pippa McGrath, aged 47, of Austhorpe Court, Leeds, has been detained in custody to appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrate's Court today (Monday 4 August). The 47-year-old was arrested after officers attended at Austhorpe Court on 30 July following a call of concern for the safety of a young child. 'Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.' Police previously warned against 'speculation' and said they were treating the death as an 'isolated incident'. Last week, Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: 'Sadly when emergency services attended at an address on Austhorpe Court, Leeds, yesterday the body of a 3-year-old girl was found inside. 'A woman at the address was taken to hospital for urgent medical attention and remains there today in a stable condition. She has been arrested on suspicion of murder. "We are treating this as an isolated incident and are not seeking anyone else in connection with it. 'I understand that such a tragic incident as this will cause shockwaves in the local community and that there will be speculation about what has happened. I would ask people to please let us investigate and if you do have any information that you think could assist our enquiries to get in contact with the investigation team.'
