One-match ban leaves England's Packer available for Women's Rugby World Cup opener
Stand-in captain Packer was sent off on Saturday during a 97-7 win over Spain in a World Cup warmup in Leicester.
In a ruck clearout, her shoulder targeted and bent the leg of fullback Claudia Pena.
Packer didn't accept it was a red card offense at her disciplinary hearing but the panel disagreed and considered the foul play reckless.
She will miss England's final warmup against France next Saturday.
England opens the World Cup against the United States on Aug. 22 in Sunderland.

'She goes to the hospital, we're getting ready for the team meeting pre-match, and then she calls me and says she's on the way to the hospital, so I said, 'Fine, be safe.' Five minutes later, she sends a photo, her water broke. I was like, 'Cool, OK, are you almost there?' This is like 30 or 40 minutes away from the hospital, so I said, 'You'll be alright, Mum is there.' '10 minutes later, she video calls me and I was like, 'S***, what's going on?' I saw a baby on the video call, so she had it in the car on the way to the hospital. They're both strong and healthy, so happy days." Aine joins siblings Armani, Adrianna, Andronicus and Ailbhe in a growing Aki family based in Galway, where their patriarch is a Connacht and Ireland stalwart. At 35, this is surely the veteran's final Lions tour having also featured in 2021 in South Africa. Aki is, however, yet to make any decision over whether he wishes to attempt to make the 2027 Rugby World Cup back in Australia. 'We'll see, we'll see,' he said. 'I want to enjoy my break, my family time. 'Only so many people can say they've been on two tours or have won a series. Honestly, I can't say anything high enough of this bunch of boys, the team, the staff, it's been one of the most enjoyable tours I've ever been on. It's so good. 'The Lions is every four years, coming to Australia, being the first team to go back-to-back to win the series against Australia. It's up there.'

João Palhinha back in the Premier League with Tottenham on loan from Bayern
LONDON (AP) — Tottenham has bolstered its midfield ahead of its return to the Champions League by signing Portugal international João Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich with an option to buy. The defensive midfielder returns to London and the Premier League a year after leaving Fulham for a much-hyped but largely unsuccessful move to Bayern. He has three years left on his Bayern contract. Bayern and Tottenham both confirmed the move Sunday. Palhinha offers a similar defensive midfield option to Spurs' Rodrigo Bentancur or Yves Bissouma. Expectations for Palhinha at Bayern were high but his time spent there had ended with the Portuguese midfielder spending most of the Club World Cup on the bench. Palhinha was a key target for Bayern in 2023, when then-coach Thomas Tuchel wanted to shore up Bayern's midfield. Palhinha even came to Munich for a medical but Bayern's deal with Fulham collapsed at the last moment. When Bayern finally did sign Palhinha for a reported fee of nearly 50 million euros (then $54.2 million) a year later, Vincent Kompany was the new coach. Palhinha's season was affected by injuries or illness but, even when he was fit, Kompany often preferred youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic in the midfield instead. Palhinha only started 10 of the 25 games he played for Bayern in all competitions and was an unused substitute in four of Bayern's five games at the Club World Cup.
