Saiyaara hits global top 50 on Spotify - Krish dreamt it, the world played it

India Today7 hours ago
One particular sequence makes 'Saiyaara' look like it crossed over from fiction to reality. It is making theatres come alive with roars and cheers for Krish Kapoor (played by Ahaan Panday) as he yearns for the love of his life, Vaani Batra (played by Aneet Padda). The girl is losing her memory due to Alzheimer's disease, and he does everything in his power to comfort her and simply, just be with her like the strongest pillar of strength.advertisementSoon after Vaani leaves Krish (another twist that you need to watch the film to know), he stumbles into her diary featuring the lyrics of the song 'Saiyaara'. Something changes in him. A hopeless Krish suddenly finds a silver lining in Vaani's writing. Only this time is it for her sake. He immediately rushes to his friends, the very band that he abandoned earlier. A hopeful Krish tells his friends, "I will make this song so big that it will reach every nook and corner of the country." His motive? To make the song reach Vaani so that she would eventually remember him via the song, and come back to him. And guess what! The song has become big - exactly how Krish imagined it in 'Saiyaara' for his Saiyaara. This is where the lines between reality and cinema blurred. The song 'Saiyaara', composed by Tanishk Bagchi, has made its way to the number one spot on Spotify's list of the Top 50 (India) and the number four spot in the Top 50 (Global).
As Krish enters the stadium filled with fans to perform the song, the cinema halls, too, turn into a live concert. In the videos going viral on social media, the audience in theatres can be seen taking out their cameras to record the song and humming the lyrics, penned by Irshad Kamil: "Saiyaara tu toh badla nahi hai, Mausam zara sa rootha hua hai (Your love remains unchanged, my dear. The world around us has become distant)." As the song, sung and co-composed by Kashmiri musicians Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, grows in popularity, it also symbolises the very essence of Krish's character, his love and his passion. It is almost as if Panday and the entire team of 'Saiyaara' manifested the song to become a blockbuster - via Krish Kapoor and his love for Vaani.Theatres across the country seem to be coming alive with 'Saiyaara'. Despite its OTT release window post the theatrical release, fans have thronged the cinema halls to have a collective experience. This is no ordinary feat for a film starring debutants. The song, the magic of the big screen, the warm welcome extended to the fresh faces - it's all surreal for both the industry and the audience.- Ends

Former actor who did bold films with brother-in-law Emraan Hashmi, left acting, became DJ, married Saiyaara director

Filmmaker Mohit Suri continues to make headlines with his latest release, Saiyaara. The director makes a comeback to the romance genre with this YRF production, which marks the Bollywood debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. While many are familiar with Suri's successful films like Zeher, Kalyug, Murder 2, Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Malang, and more, few may know about his wife—who has been his biggest cheerleader on Instagram, especially now as Saiyaara breaks records at the box office. Mohit Suri is married to former actor-model Udita Goswami. Born on February 9, 1984, in Dehradun, Udita began her journey in the showbiz industry as a model. She started young, walking the ramp for the first time at just 16. She later moved to Delhi to pursue a modelling career, won the MTV Model Mission contest, and went on to become one of the city's most popular models. She captured public attention with her screen presence in ad campaigns for major brands like Pepsi and Titan watches. In 2003, filmmaker Pooja Bhatt gave her first break in the film Paap opposite John Abraham. Little did anyone know that Udita would one day become part of the Bhatt family itself. While Paap did not perform well at the box office, it launched Udita on the big screen and left a mark. Following Paap, Udita starred in several bold, romantic films, including Zeher (2005, directed by Mohit Suri) opposite brother-in-law Emraan Hashmi and Aksar (2006) with Dino Morea and Emraan—both commercial hits. She also appeared with Upen Patel in Ahmed Khan's music video remix of Kya Khoob Lagti Ho. Her other, less successful films included Aggar, Kisse Pyaar Karoon, Chase, Rokkk, and Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai. In 2012, Udita played the lead role in Diary of a Butterfly, directed by Vinodh Mukhi. The film received mixed reviews and became her last acting project. She then decided to follow her passion for music and quit acting, even letting go of her Hollywood dreams. Udita trained as a DJ and began performing at exclusive private parties and curated events. Her shift from films to DJing surprised many, but for Udita, it was a natural extension of her love for rhythm and sound. Over the years, she gradually faded away from the spotlight. Udita and Mohit Suri first crossed paths during the making of Zeher. Their professional connection soon turned into a strong bond and a long-term relationship. After several years of dating, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Mumbai's Juhu ISKCON temple in 2013. They welcomed two children—a daughter in 2015 and a son in 2018. Udita's marriage to Mohit Suri made her a part of the Bhatt family, one of Bollywood's most influential film dynasties. Through Mohit, she is related to stars Alia Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi, making her their sister-in-law. Recently, Udita was spotted out and about in Mumbai with her husband Mohit Suri and their kids.

Not Ahaan Panday Or Aneet Padda, But THIS Real-Life Bollywood Couple Was 1st Choice For Saiyaara

Saiyaara is breaking records at the box office. Within just 11 days, it has netted over Rs 250 crore in India. Saiyaara has emerged as one of the biggest surprise blockbusters of the year, catapulting debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to instant stardom. The Mohit Suri-directed romantic drama has captivated audiences with its fresh pairing and soulful soundtrack. However, not many know that the film was originally planned with another Bollywood power couple. According to a report by Scoopwhoop, real-life couple Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani were the initial choices to headline Saiyaara. The duo had previously shared remarkable on-screen chemistry in Shershaah, which not only won hearts but also sparked their off-screen romance. The makers reportedly approached the couple before finalising Ahaan and Aneet, but the discussions did not materialise. In a recent interview, director Mohit Suri shed more light on the casting process. He admitted he was considering a cast of established actors when producer Aditya Chopra intervened. Suri recalled Chopra saying, 'Your film won't work with known faces—it's a story of two youngsters. Let's cast fresh faces." When Suri asked who would take such a risk in today's box office climate, Chopra simply responded, 'I will." That leap of faith paid off handsomely. Interestingly, Suri and Sidharth Malhotra have previously collaborated on the 2014 hit Ek Villain. The director is also known for frequently working with actors he trusts, including Emraan Hashmi, Shraddha Kapoor, and Aditya Roy Kapur. Given their successful history, Sidharth's association with Saiyaara seemed like a natural fit—until the fresh casting choice changed the game. As for the film's performance, Saiyaara is breaking records at the box office. Within just 11 days, it has netted over Rs 250 crore in India. With strong word-of-mouth and steady footfalls, trade analysts expect the romantic drama to easily cross the Rs 300 crore mark by week's end. If it continues to hold against new releases like Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2, Saiyaara could potentially end its theatrical run between Rs 375 crore and Rs 400 crore.
