Residents told to plan for six-week road closure
The B3108 Lower Stoke in Limpley Stoke, Wiltshire, will be closed from 06:00 BST on Monday for Network Rail to carry out essential repairs to the railway bridge over the road. The work is due to be completed by 18:00 on 31 August.
Wiltshire Council said diversions would be in place and pedestrian access under the bridge would continue, but overnight closures might be introduced.
Councillor Martin Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "We understand this closure will cause disruption, but these works are vital for public safety and the continued operation of the railway."
The council will monitor the impact the closure has on traffic, particularly in the surrounding villages.
The authority will take "appropriate action" to mitigate any major issues, Mr Smith added.

The closure will also affect the D1 FirstBus service.
Throughout the works, the service will take a more direct route between Bradford on Avon and Bath via Sally-in-the-Woods.
A free shuttle bus, operated by Beeline, will transport passengers travelling to and from Bradford on Avon.
It will run between the town and Winsley Village during daytime hours from Monday to Sunday.
Passengers travelling to Bath from Winsley can take the shuttle to Bradford on Avon before changing to the D1 or D1x at Christ Church.
Those heading to Trowbridge can change at the Bradford on Avon Town Bridge.
The D1 will continue to serve Winsley village and Winsley Road during the evening from 18:05 and all day on Sundays and public holidays.
However, the diversion route will take longer, so passengers are warned there may be some delays to their journey.

These Are the Best Spa Cities in the World—and the Top Spot Is a Small U.K. City
A new study set out to find the best spa cities in the world using data from Yelp and Google. One destination in the U.K. took the top spot for its high density of spas and luxury offerings. Cities like Palm Springs, California, and Miami also ranked highly, with standout scores in search interest and spa density. Everyone is looking for something different when it comes to vacations—some may want an adrenaline rush, others a deep cultural experience, and some people really just want to relax. For the true relaxation connoisseurs, spa cloud software company Zenoti's 2025 report on the best cities in the world for spas has all the details on where to find the most spas, the best-reviewed ones, and even where to find the most affordable spas. For its study, Zenoti used a combination of Yelp and Google search data (specifically, the phrase "spas near me"), and each city had to meet a few requirements in order to be included on the list. Each destination needed to have at least 20 spa listings on Yelp, and there needed to be population data available to calculate spa density per capita. After cities ticked off all the requirements, they were judged by a weighted index according to five factors: the number of spas per capita, average Yelp ratings, the percentage of luxury spas in the area, the percentage of affordable spas, and the volume of Google searches for 'spas near me' in 2025. With all of that information factored in, Bath, U.K., came out as the best spa city in the world. For fans of historical romance novels, it's not too much of a surprise that Bath came in first place. Not only is it the most spa-dense city in the world, but it also ranks high for spa-related searches and luxury spa offerings. With mineral-rich hot springs, Bath has long been a favorite spa town, with an ancient history that dates back to the days of the Roman Empire. However, you won't even need a passport to visit the second location on the list. Palm Springs, California, a longtime favorite wellness destination, ranked highly for both spa density and search volume, so you'll definitely be in the company of other travelers looking for cupping, deep tissue massages, and facials. The third-place spot also went to another domestic destination: Miami, Florida. The South Florida city ranks high in spa density, search volume, and affordable spas, so seeking out a wellness-focused retreat here should be relatively stress-free. Here are the top 10 spa cities in the world according to the Zenoti study, for all your travel planning and wanderlust needs. Bath, United Kingdom Palm Springs, California Miami, Florida Toronto, Canada Scottsdale, Arizoma Honolulu, Hawaii Vancouver, Canada Boston, Massachusetts Seattle, Washington New York City, New York Some other interesting tidbits? The most affordable spa cities in the world didn't make it to the top 10. The most affordable spa cities are Osaka and Kyoto in Japan. Conversely, if you're looking for the best luxury experiences, your best bets are Milan, Italy, and Geneva, Switzerland. Kyoto is also home to some of the best-rated spas in the world, alongside Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Scottsdale, Arizona. You can check out the full list and find more info on

Queues of lorries and holidaymakers at Port of Dover
Traffic is at a standstill, queuing to use the Port of Dover as holidaymakers and freight lorries descend in large numbers. The vehicles are moving very slowly through Dover from the A20, and down Jubilee Way towards the port in Kent. A spokesperson from the Port of Dover has said that the traffic into the port is currently causing delays of around an hour. A traffic control system is in place, and one traffic warden told an eyewitness they had received a lot of verbal abuse from drivers on Thursday morning. Doug Bannister, chief executive at the Port of Dover said his organisation has been 'preparing for a busy summer' and have brought in measures to 'minimise disruption'. He said: 'We know how vital it is to keep things moving, not just for holidaymakers but for our local community too. 'That's why we've boosted staff levels, strengthened traffic management, added welfare facilities and introduced AI-powered forecasting – all to minimise disruption and ensure both residents and travellers have the best possible experience during this busy season.' Port of Dover say they are expecting nearly 40,000 cars this weekend and more than 270,000 in the next six weeks.

How to Watch Tour de France Stage 18 Live on a Free Channel
Interested in watching Tour de France stage 18 live on a free channel? This is an ideal opportunity to enjoy one of the hardest parts of this year's Tour de France. Over 5400 meters of elevation, combined with pre-fatigue, make it incredibly challenging. But we're all for a good battle! So, how to watch Tour de France stage 18 online for free? Here's a tutorial. If you do a quick search online, you'll notice an annoying trend: most broadcasters are premium. In a recent post, we explained that you can watch Tour de France for free, and the same goes for this year's stage 18. The official free broadcaster is ITV (ITV 4 to be precise), also known as ITVX. It's an on-demand streaming service that belongs to ITV, a famous UK TV channel. ITV requires a free account, which enables users to watch Tour de France stage 18 live. The live-stream is also in English. However, ITV works only in the UK, so if you're abroad, you'll face a geo-restriction. Meanwhile, if you're in the UK, you can waltz in, register, and tune in to the race. This guide is for people in the former group. Watch Tour de France With NordVPN To watch Tour de France stage 18 live on a free channel, you'll need a VPN. People often refer to NordVPN as the right pick. It provides 400+ UK servers, unlimited bandwidth, and top-notch performance for buffer-free streaming. VPNs work by swapping your IP address for another one. In the process, your original IP is hidden, and you appear as a resident of another country. The point is, therefore, to connect to a UK VPN server in NordVPN, which allows full access to ITV as if you were actually in the UK. Not all VPNs can efficiently unblock ITV, but according to cycling fans, NordVPN works 10/10 times. While it's not free, NordVPN is fully refundable for 30 days, so you can watch the whole Tour de France for free. Once you're done, contact NordVPN, request a refund, and lose nothing. Beware that NordVPN works on all devices, so watching the Tour de France online for free is possible on the go—on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Fans also watch the Giro d' Italia and other yearly cycling specials this way. ITV isn't your only option for watching Tour de France Stage 18 for free. Australian SBS also enables full access to the race and broadcasts all stages. Its online streaming service, SBS on Demand, is the one to go for. SBS on Demand is region-locked to Australia, similarly to ITV. However, you can access SBS abroad by using NordVPN. The difference is in the IP address obtained. Instead of the British one, you'll use an Australian IP. After that, you'll have to register for free and watch Tour de France stage 18 in Full HD and English (AU) commentary. While premium options are always viable, we must consider their prices and availability. Not only are they multiple times pricier than a VPN, but they also lack lengthy free trials and/or money-back guarantee. Besides, they're also geo-restricted to their respective countries, so you'll need a VPN either way. As things stand, using free channels to watch Tour de France stage 18 remains the most sensical path. Try NordVPN risk-free
