The footage shows the honeymooners depositing their bags in a hotel before going towards Double Decker Bridge on May 21. Both of them are in raincoats.
The couple is seen arriving at 12:42pm on the same two-wheeler that was later found abandoned. Sonam is in a white T-shirt and black trousers under a black-and-pink raincoat. A white shirt was found next to Raja's body and a similar raincoat a few days later in the vicinity though neither has been confirmed to be hers.
Raja is seen requesting the manager to allow them to leave their luggage at the hotel while they go to visit Double-Decker Bridge. Sonam puts her raincoat in the boot of the two-wheeler. They transfer a few clothes from their suitcases into a carry bagand head off. They look cheerful and carefree.
At 12:45pm, a red hatchback arrives and stops at a short distance. Two minutes later, two men step out of the car and enter the hotel.
One of them is seen making entries on the computer, while the other makes a phone call. At 12:56 the couple leave on their two wheeler.
Sonam's family members don't think the raincoat found by police is hers. "It's 3XL and it is not clear if she was wearing the same raincoat," said Govind, who has been camping in Shillong.
Police are examining the footage but the two families feel Meghalaya cops aren't doing enough to find Sonam or trace Raja's killers.

Govind said: "We were the ones who found this viral CCTV footage. If a common man can do this, why can't police?" He had earlier said that Meghalaya police should "stop looking for a body". "My sister was abducted. We fear she has been trafficked to Bangladesh," he had told TOI.
Meghalaya officials say police, SDERF and NDRF teams, have been braving treacherous terrain and harsh weather in their search for Sonam. "Police don't take us to witness the search operation.
I am going on my own. They are just completing formalities in the name of searching. For the past three days, they have been searching just 50 metres on either side of a 10km road," he said.
"If the body were to be found on a road like that, wouldn't it have come to light in 16 days? Even a five-year-old can understand that. Sohra police are just killing time so that our patience breaks, we leave, and the news stops coming in the media," Govind told TOI.
According to local media reports in Meghalaya, a guide in Sohra has told police that he saw Raja and Sonam with three men before the couple went missing. They were talking in Hindi and seemed friendly, the reports said.

Textbook Scam: 2 More Held, Mumbai Storeroom Busted

Nagpur: The Nagpur Police crime branch's anti-extortion cell has made significant headway in the ongoing school textbook scam investigation by arresting two more key accused from a slum in Nalasopara in Mumbai Metropolitan Region on Thursday night. The duo — identified as Sujeet Chaudhary and Deepak Maurya — was allegedly responsible for transportation, storage, marketing and unauthorized sale of the school textbooks. Police sources say the racketeers had set up fake book shops, tied up with school textbook publishing company on "commission basis" to procure large quantities and then vanished with the stock worth over Rs76 lakh, allegedly diverting it to black markets. Acting on information extracted during interrogation of the first two arrested accused over a week ago, a special team led by the anti-extortion cell carried out a series of coordinated raids at nearly a dozen locations in and around Nalasopara area. The investigating officer inspector Ravindra Naikwad told TOI that Sujeet Chaudhary was arrested during one such raid, and upon further interrogation, he revealed the location of a storeroom where thousands of govt-issued school textbooks were being hoarded. The storeroom, located deep within a settlement known for housing African immigrants, was packed with bundles of textbooks worth an estimated ₹2 to ₹3 lakh. A vehicle suspected to be used for transporting the stolen material was also located. "Though a significant portion of the stolen material had already been moved out before our raid, we managed to recover nearly 50% of the stock," said Naikwad. The Nagpur team received crucial support from Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar (MBVV) crime branch during the operation. "Inspector Sameer Ahirrao of MBVV played crucial role in coordinating local intelligence and providing logistical support to ensure the operation was executed smoothly," the city cop added. According to Naikwad, Sujeet and Deepak had been involved in the scam since the beginning. Their role primarily revolved around setting up unauthorized stalls at schools, handling marketing, and organizing logistics for the distribution and sale of the stolen textbooks. Officials suspect existence of multiple such storerooms in Mumbai and believe a larger network may still be operating under the radar. The accused have been remanded in police custody till July 29. Further interrogations are expected to help trace the remaining missing stock and uncover additional players involved in the racket.

Student Takes Raj Thackeray's Name, Asks Others To Speak In Marathi, Thrashed

Mumbai: A student was allegedly beaten up outside a college in Navi Mumbai for - in a semi-threatening tone - asking others to speak in Marathi in a WhatsApp group. Police sources said the students were all part of a college WhatsApp group and some of them were writing messages in Hindi on Monday. Another student then replied in Marathi, "Speak in Marathi, otherwise Raj Thackeray will come." Raj Thackeray is the chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), whose workers have assaulted several people in the state for what they termed "insults" to Marathi. The attacks include one on a shopkeeper in Thane and, more recently, on a man working in a public toilet in Nanded. The student's comment sparked an argument on the WhatsApp group, which kept escalating. Around 10.30 am the next day, four students, including one Faizan Naik, attacked the student who asked them to speak in Marathi outside their college in Vashi. Naik also hit the 20-year-old on the head with a hockey stick, leaving him severely injured. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Vashi) Adinath Budhwant said a case has been registered. "A First Information Report has been registered at the Vashi police station in connection with a dispute that arose between two groups. The dispute was a result of an argument between two individuals over comments on the group," Mr Budhwant said. "The complainant was also reportedly beaten with a stick. An investigation is on and action will be taken against the accused," he added. MNS Spokesperson Gajanan Kale and other MNS workers also met police officials and asked for strict action against the attacking students at the earliest. "We have met the student and his family as well," Mr Kale said.

HIV positive minor accuses Latur facility staffer of rape

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Latur district police are investigating a 16-year-old HIV positive girl's complaint accusing one of the staffers at a residential facility of repeatedly raping her over the last two years and forcing her to undergo an abortion. In a related action, police arrested the facility's director, his wife and a woman staffer on charges of suppressing the matter to shield the main suspect, who is absconding. "Based on the girl's complaint, we have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act provisions against six people. They comprise the three arrested individuals, the main suspect and another staffer at the facility, besides a gynaecologist from a hospital in Latur where, the survivor said, she was forced to undergo an abortion," Latur superintendent of police (SP) Amol Tambe told TOI on Friday. The girl hails from Dharashiv district and was shifted to the residential facility in Latur district over two years ago. Police said that in her complaint, the girl said that between July 2023 and July 2025, she was allegedly raped four times by one of the staffers at the residential facility. Despite raising the issue with the residential facility's management, the latter suppressed the matter and allegedly shielded the suspect, the complaint stated. The girl also said that she made a written complaint and put it in the drop box, but upon learning about it, the suspect tore it and threatened her with dire consequences, police said. Recently, after she fell ill, she was taken to a hospital where she found that she was four months pregnant, police said. The victim, while naming a Latur-based private hospital, stated that she was forced to undergo an abortion at this hospital run by a gynaecologist. The matter came to light after the girl recently reached her home in Dharashiv and lodged a zero FIR at a police station there. Dharashiv police referred it to the police station concerned in Latur district for investigation. "We registered a case immediately after receiving the zero FIR," SP Tambe said. Police inspector Sunil Rejitwad, who is investigating the case, said, "Considering the gravity of the matter, multiple teams have been deployed to nab the suspects." Police have invoked offences punishable under sections 64, 64 (2) (I), 64 (2) (J), 64 (2) (M), 65 and 65 (I), all related to rape, repeated sexual assault on woman incapable of giving consent, and rape by a person in a position of control or dominance over a woman, of the BNS. Besides, 68 (C) for sexual assault by a person in authority, 88 and 89 for causing miscarriage and without a woman's consent, 115 for voluntarily causing hurt, 351 (2) for criminal intimidation, 351 (3) for threatening to cause death or grievous injury, and 3 (5) for common intention of the BNS and five sections of the POCSO Act have been invoked.
