Rumors Disney and Pixar are making a sequel to beloved classic DECADES after its release fiercely divides fans
Speculation has erupted on social media this week that Ratatouille 2 is in the works at Disney.
The 2007 animated film Ratatouille, produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, followed a rat named Remy who dreamed of becoming a chef - and it was a massive success.
Hundreds of the original movie's fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts over the potential reboot.
And while some people were ecstatic over the possibility of their favorite rodent returning to the big screen for another adventure, others were not a fan of the idea.
The rumors began to circulate after film buff and entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider said during a recent appearance on The Hot Mic podcast that he believes Ratatouille 2 is happening.
'I heard [about] it a while back and it was denied. But I was like 'I don't know if I'm buying that denial,'' he said.
'I'm pretty sure that there will be a sequel. You can't do a proper sequel to Up, necessarily. Maybe you could for WALL-E. But Ratatouille screams sequel.'
His comment came after Pixar CCO Pete Docter revealed that the animation studio plans to release one original film followed by a sequel from now on.
While the movie is not confirmed, Sneider's comments led to an eruption of rumors on social media, and fans seemed completely split over the possibility of a sequel.
'Ratatouille 2 is reportedly in the works at Disney,' popular X account known as Pop Tingz wrote in a now-viral post on Thursday.
In the replies, some people begged Disney and Pixar not to make the second movie because they feared it wouldn't do the original justice and could 'ruin' the story.
'DO NOT RUIN THIS AMAZING MOVIE,' one user frantically wrote.
'This is literally my favorite cartoon of all time, please don't do this,' pleaded another.
'Please don't. Don't ruin this masterpiece,' someone else added.
'We don't want it,' read a fourth comment, while a fifth said, 'If they f**k this up they won't live to tell the tale, but if they do it right it might be the best movie ever.'
Some people begged Disney not to make the second movie because they feared it wouldn't do the original justice and could 'ruin' the story. While others claimed it wasn't necessary
Some people, however, were super excited by the rumors
Others claimed that the follow-up wasn't necessary.
'There's literally no reason for a sequel...' scathed a different user.
'They just can't leave childhood classics alone,' another outraged person penned.
'I feel like if a movie has gone at least seven years without a sequel, it should just end there,' announced one fan.
'Does nobody have any new ideas?' asked another. 'Just remakes and unnecessary sequels.'
Some people, however, were super excited by the rumors.
'That's a recipe for magic... Disney cooking up something special again,' gushed one supporter.
'Oh my goodness, finally something good,' another wrote.
'OH I'M SAT FOR THIS ONE ACTUALLY,' someone else said.
Other posts read, 'Omg my childhood,' 'Finally,' and, 'About time.'
The original Ratatouille film starred Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Ian Holm, Brad Garrett, Peter O'Toole, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn, and Janeane Garofalo.
It grossed $623.7 million worldwide at the box office and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson agree to huge $1million bet for Katie Taylor's trilogy fight with Amanda Serrano on Netflix
JAKE PAUL and Mike Tyson have agreed to a huge $1MILLION bet for Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano's trilogy fight. Taylor has twice beaten Serrano in thrilling but disputed decisions. 6 6 6 The first came at New York's famed Madison Square Garden in 2024 and the rematch was on Paul's Texas undercard against Tyson in November. Paul beat the returning Tyson over eight, shorter two minute rounds as the heavyweight great made a controversial comeback aged 58. But many felt the real main event came after Taylor beat Serrano over ten epic rounds - setting up Friday's trilogy on Netflix. And promoter Paul - who recently beat ex-middleweight world champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - has raised the stakes. He FaceTimed Tyson and said: "A lot of people are saying that Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor's fight was better than ours… "They're fighting again this weekend." Tyson, now 59, said: "I got Katie." Paul, 28, responded "I got Amanda." 6 But Tyson doubled down with: "Nah I got Katie." Paul then asked if Iron Mike wanted to make a bet with him - to which the boxing legend paused before shouting "yeah!" The YouTuber-turned-boxer said: "Alright, we'll make a bet. If Katie wins then you get $1million ($700,000). If Amanda wins, then I get $1million." And Tyson said: "I like that. And then you gotta take me out for dinner too." Before ending the call, Paul signed off with: "Alright, I'll take you out to dinner, I'll take you on a date. Amanda's gonna win, baby." Tyson - who shared an $80m (£60m) purse down the middle with Paul - has settled back into boxing retirement. Paul meanwhile improved to 12-1 with victory over Chavez Jr in California and now puts his promoters hat on for Taylor-Serrano 3. 6 6

Anne Hathaway's Hollywood celebrity best friend is revealed... and it's NOT a female
Anne Hathaway has landed another Vogue magazine cover. This time the Oscar-winning actress is discussing playing a pop star in the vein of Taylor Swift in her new movie Mother Mary, which was unchartered territory for the Hollywood veteran. The brunette shared with the fashion bible that she was not good at singing at first, but she pushed herself. 'I had to submit to being a beginner,' shared the 42-year-old New York native. 'The humility of that—showing up every day knowing you're going to suck. And it has to be okay. You're not 'bad.' You're just a beginner. 'Getting to that mindset—I had to shed some things that were hard to shed. It was welcome. But it was hard, the way transformational experiences can be hard.' Also in the interview, it is revealed who her celebrity best friend is, and it's not a woman. What made it extra challenging was that she did not have all the music finalized before she went in front of the camera. 'It was so confusing. I had to learn…. Because if I'd had the music a year before we ever turned a camera on, I would have tattooed every note of it on my soul, and there would have been a whole process, very specific. 'And that was not available to me. In the end. I am very grateful I could not take control.' The star worked with hit-making music producer Jack Antonoff as well as pop icon Charli XCX. 'I finally learned how to breathe,' said Hathaway. 'My body was so locked up—I literally couldn't take a deep breath. 'I'd been trying to open that space for years and I thought it was physically impossible. All my breath, it was stuck.' Hathaway also spent two years trying to learn how to dance for the role. As far as her celebrity best friend, it's Bradley Cooper. They became pals in NYC in 2019. The Oscar-winner talked to Vogue about what makes Anne special. 'You see how she treats everyone—and it's everyone—she's so kind,' said Cooper. 'We started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them.' Them is Anne and her husband Adam Shulman. Bradley said their union is 'an emblem for that kind of commitment,' in that they 'enrich' each other. The actor then tells the writer: 'You've met Anne: She's very present and grounded, I'll put it that way. And kind. She's viciously intelligent.' When not working, Anne is a regular person she insists, as she loves to stay home with her family. She loves 'hanging out' with her kids - she has sons Jonathan, nine, and Jack, five, with her husband. 'I'd been trying to open that space for years and I thought it was physically impossible. All my breath, it was stuck.' Hathaway also spent two years trying to learn how to dance for the role 'Uno games, baking when there's time, teaching the kids to dribble a basketball in the apartment without upsetting the neighbors….' she said. 'I am so, so grateful [her] husband is a great cook and an early riser,' she told writer Maya Singer. Anne looked glamorous in a photo shoot by Annie Leibovitz with help from Fashion Editor: Tabitha Simmons, hair by Orlando Pita and makeup by Gucci Westman. Vogue's August 2025 issue is available on newsstands nationwide on July 15.
