Rumors Disney and Pixar are making a sequel to beloved classic DECADES after its release fiercely divides fans

Daily Mail26-06-2025
Rumors that Disney is making a sequel to a beloved classic nearly two decades after it came out has left its longtime fans fiercely divided.
Speculation has erupted on social media this week that Ratatouille 2 is in the works at Disney.
The 2007 animated film Ratatouille, produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, followed a rat named Remy who dreamed of becoming a chef - and it was a massive success.
Hundreds of the original movie's fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts over the potential reboot.
And while some people were ecstatic over the possibility of their favorite rodent returning to the big screen for another adventure, others were not a fan of the idea.
The rumors began to circulate after film buff and entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider said during a recent appearance on The Hot Mic podcast that he believes Ratatouille 2 is happening.
'I heard [about] it a while back and it was denied. But I was like 'I don't know if I'm buying that denial,'' he said.
'I'm pretty sure that there will be a sequel. You can't do a proper sequel to Up, necessarily. Maybe you could for WALL-E. But Ratatouille screams sequel.'
His comment came after Pixar CCO Pete Docter revealed that the animation studio plans to release one original film followed by a sequel from now on.
While the movie is not confirmed, Sneider's comments led to an eruption of rumors on social media, and fans seemed completely split over the possibility of a sequel.
'Ratatouille 2 is reportedly in the works at Disney,' popular X account known as Pop Tingz wrote in a now-viral post on Thursday.
In the replies, some people begged Disney and Pixar not to make the second movie because they feared it wouldn't do the original justice and could 'ruin' the story.
'DO NOT RUIN THIS AMAZING MOVIE,' one user frantically wrote.
'This is literally my favorite cartoon of all time, please don't do this,' pleaded another.
'Please don't. Don't ruin this masterpiece,' someone else added.
'We don't want it,' read a fourth comment, while a fifth said, 'If they f**k this up they won't live to tell the tale, but if they do it right it might be the best movie ever.'
Some people begged Disney not to make the second movie because they feared it wouldn't do the original justice and could 'ruin' the story. While others claimed it wasn't necessary
Some people, however, were super excited by the rumors
Others claimed that the follow-up wasn't necessary.
'There's literally no reason for a sequel...' scathed a different user.
'They just can't leave childhood classics alone,' another outraged person penned.
'I feel like if a movie has gone at least seven years without a sequel, it should just end there,' announced one fan.
'Does nobody have any new ideas?' asked another. 'Just remakes and unnecessary sequels.'
Some people, however, were super excited by the rumors.
'That's a recipe for magic... Disney cooking up something special again,' gushed one supporter.
'Oh my goodness, finally something good,' another wrote.
'OH I'M SAT FOR THIS ONE ACTUALLY,' someone else said.
Other posts read, 'Omg my childhood,' 'Finally,' and, 'About time.'
The original Ratatouille film starred Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Ian Holm, Brad Garrett, Peter O'Toole, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn, and Janeane Garofalo.
It grossed $623.7 million worldwide at the box office and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

'Did anyone else notice!?' Aspiring chef Brooklyn Beckham is mocked as fans spot private cook in the back of his chicken wrap tutorial video

Brooklyn Beckham 's fans playfully took aim at his recent video after they noticed a private chef in the amateur cook's new cooking tutorial. The son of Victoria and David Beckham, 26, who has taken a keen interest in cooking in recent years, showed his followers how to make the perfect chicken caesar wrap. The video was a plug for the nepo baby 's hot sauce brand, Cloud23, which he launched last year and retails for £15 a bottle. Following Brooklyn's foray into the food industry, the irony was not lost on his followers that their was a private chef in the background of his clip. During the blink and you'll miss it moment, a man wearing chef whites appears behind Brooklyn and looks to be preparing food. Meanwhile, Brooklyn is frying off chicken breasts in his own brand sauce as he shows off his own culinary skills to his followers. After spotting the moment, eagle-eyed followers took to the comments section to reveal they had clocked the professional in the video. They said: 'Did anyone else catch the white coat chef in the background as Brooklyn is working the chicken on the stove [laughing face emojis]'; 'The chef in the background; 'Why is there a chef behind him?'; 'Love the private chef in the background'. While it is no surprise that Brooklyn and his billionaire heiress wife have a private chef in their Los Angeles home, he did recently claim he cooks 'every night'. He told PEOPLE last month: 'I love cooking my wife stuff, and I try and cook every night. While Nicola occasionally acts as his 'sous chef', Brooklyn revealed that he also loves to cook by himself with the company of his dogs. He said: 'It's just me listening to my music, maybe watching a movie, having a drink, I get lost in it.' 'My wife sends me so much stuff on TikTok, she's like, "can you please make me this little snack?" She sent me this one the other day of this pickle cut in half, scraped out with a bit of cream cheese and everything, bagel seasoning and lemon pepper seasoning. She sent me that and we made it. It's like our new late-night snack.' The post also included a pointed nod to Brooklyn's ongoing rift with his family, as the song choice for the video referred to not feeling like he has the confidence to speak up and finally feeling empowered. It comes as his feud with his family rumbles on after Brooklyn and Nicola, 30, failed to attend any of his father David's 50th birthday celebrations. Relations between the couple and Brooklyn's family are said to be at an all time low amid fears he is risking ruining his 'close bond' with sister Harper if he fails to attend or acknowledge her 14th birthday on Thursday. While both parties have remained publicly quiet about their rift, there have been clues on social media suggesting that all is not well between the two camps. In his most recent post where he shared a cooking tutorial for a chicken caesar salad wrap, Brooklyn dropped a new hint that there is no sign of the feud healing. Brooklyn posted the video and it was accompanied by Two Door Cinema Club's I Can Talk in a seemingly pointed nod to the row. The lead singer, Alex Trimble, previously explained the origin and meaning behind the story, which was about when the band first started talking with record companies. Alex claimed they grew sick of people telling them what to do so took initiative and talked for themselves. Despite claims of ongoing tension, the new post was 'liked' by his dad David, but none of his immediate family have commented on the video A website that deciphers the meaning of songs, Call Me Fred, claims it is about the protagonist having something important to say but feeling like they couldn't speak up. The explanation reads: 'They reference people in positions of power who may have dismissed or ignored them in the past. 'Now, with a newfound confidence, the protagonist is speaking their truth and not allowing anyone to silence them. 'The repetitive chorus emphasizes this newfound ability to speak their mind and the power that comes with it.' Despite claims of ongoing tension, the new post was 'liked' by his dad David, but none of his immediate family have commented on the video. However, his grandmother Sandra, who he remains on good terms with, commented that the clip was 'perfect'. In the clip, Brooklyn was wearing a Whitney Houston drivers license hoodie and a backwards baseball cap, from his hot sauce brand Cloud23. The post was plugging the brand as he cooked his chicken in the sauce and added some at the end as a condiment. David and Victoria supported their eldest son as he launched Cloud23 last year both in Los Angeles and London. They were seen together again at Christmas time in the UK when the couple joined Brooklyn's family for festive celebrations on Boxing Day. However it marked the final time they have all been seen together since reports of infighting began. The picture of familial bliss shows Victoria and David and their four children with Nicola gathered in front of a Christmas tree, posted on Boxing Day last year. The image is a far cry from the tense relations between the Beckhams and their son and his wife, following reports that things are 'beyond repair'. In the most recent development, Nicola made a series of pointed remarks about family. On Sunday, it was claimed Brooklyn and Nicola's feud with the Beckhams could overshadow Harper's upcoming birthday on July 10. Sources claimed there was fear Harper could be 'collateral damage' should they fail to acknowledge her birthday celebration as the feud with her parents escalates. As the reports emerged, Nicola took to Instagram to share a series of photographs in which she gushed over her billionaire father Nelson Peltz and joked that her Labubu dolls were her family. She shared a snap of the coveted Pop Mart dolls in a row, captioning the snap: 'our little family', before posting another snap of one of the dolls, writing: 'my mom just gets it.' Nicola also shared a selfie on a yacht before rounding off her posts with a snap hugging her father that she captioned: 'I love you so much dad'. Nicola's posts come amid fears Brooklyn and Nicola will fail to acknowledge Harper's birthday on Thursday. Amid his escalating feud with his family, the pair failed to publicly acknowledge David's milestone 50th birthday on May 8. David and Victoria's 26th wedding anniversary also passed without mention, despite the former Manchester United and England footballer referencing Brooklyn in his own post. And sources fear Harper could be 'collateral damage' should they fail to acknowledge her birthday celebration as the feud with her parents escalates. An insider told The Mirror: 'Harper's been particularly affected by what's going on because she's always been really close to Brooklyn. 'They've always had a lovely bond because Brooklyn was that bit older when Harper was born and the hope when Brooklyn married Nicola was that she'd become like a big sister to Harper in a house full of brothers. 'But obviously that hasn't happened and it's potentially going to be heartbreaking for Harper if Brooklyn doesn't show up for her on her birthday.' David previously thanked wife Victoria for their 'beautiful children' as the couple both acknowledged estranged son Brooklyn while celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary on July 4. The former footballer who also shares sons Romeo, 20, and Cruz, 22 with the ex Spice Girl, 51, shared a series of throwback snaps of the family in happier times. Declaring his love for Victoria, who he referred to as Lady Beckham following his Knighthood, he wrote: '26 years today you said YES to me Happy Anniversary and thank you for giving me our beautiful children and building the life that we have together.' He went on to tag his children including estranged son Brooklyn. On Monday, Nicola shared a snap of herself performing a headstand while her younger brother Zachary - who she joked was 'her trainer - held her legs up Victoria, 51, also tagged her eldest son, captioning her post: 'Another year, another chapter in our love story. 'I'm so proud of the beautiful family and life we've built together. You and our four incredible children complete me. I love you so much @davidbeckham. Here's to 26 years!!' Despite the apparent olive branch, insider believe Brooklyn will not be in attendance when Harper turns 14 on Thursday. The source added: 'He took a stand and missed his dad's 50th so he's not likely to suddenly do a U-turn and forget everything that's happened, as much as he loves Harper. 'But if he did, it could be a much-needed olive branch to start repairing things. An end to the family drama would be the best birthday present Harper – and her parents – could ask for.' MailOnline has contacted a representative for further comment. Rumours of a rift between the eldest son and his parents began when Brooklyn was noticeably silent on his former Spice Girl mother's birthday, a far cry from his usual sweet posts about her. Neither the former photographer nor his wife wished Victoria a happy 51st, while David, Romeo and Cruz posted gushing messages. And as well as snubbing dad David's birthday online, he also was notably absent from all of his 50th birthday celebrations - including a boys' fishing trip. Despite flying to London at the time, Brooklyn and Nicola also didn't attend the big family party at the Beckhams' Cotswolds home or an idyllic trip to France or a meal at Notting Hill restaurant, Core. Brooklyn reportedly 'told his famous family that he wants no contact' with them last month in the latest devastating turn of their ongoing feud. According to the publication, the eldest Beckham boy has had no communication with his family following father David's knighthood being announced last month and only learned of the news in the media alongside the rest of the world. Denying he'd asked for no contact, a source close to Brooklyn told the publication: 'Everyone's focus should be David Beckham 's great honour'. Meanwhile a source close to Brooklyn also denied the claims as they told MailOnline, 'this seems to be another deliberate attempt to misrepresent the truth, and it only serves to distract from this honor being bestowed on Brooklyn's father.'

Dolly Parton, 79, makes heartbreaking career decision after husband Carl Dean's death

Dolly Parton has given a heartbreaking update on her career after the death of her husband of 59 years, Carl Dean. The music icon, 79, announced 82-year-old Dean's passing in March, and has since made the decision to put her recording career on hold. She told Khloe Kardashian on podcast Khloe in Wonder Land: 'I can't do it right now 'cause I got so many other things that I can't afford the luxury of, you know, of getting emotional right now.' Admitting she is 'stalled' she added: 'I'll write something else, though, if it comes. I'm just putting that all on hold.' In the wake of Dean's death Parton released a soaring ballad If You Hadn't Been There. Dolly announced the release of her single on Instagram and revealed the artwork, an old photo showing her standing up behind Carl and wrapping her arms around her neck while beaming for the camera. The music icon, 79, announced 82-year-old Dean's passing in March, and has since made the decision to put her recording career on hold ' Carl and I fell in love when I was 18 and he was 23, and like all great love stories, they never end,' she sweetly captioned the post. 'They live in memory and in song, and I dedicate this to him.' The new single opened with delicate piano, acoustic guitar and pedal steel guitar before Dolly's opening line, which restated the title. 'If you hadn't been there / Where would I be?' she sings. She goes on to praise Dean's 'trust, love and belief,' even though they've gone through their share of 'ups and downs.' In the second verse, Dolly sings a variation on the title: 'If you hadn't been you / Well, who would I be?' After leaving her voice exposed with just piano and guitars, the drums jump in to accompany her on the second verse, beefing up the instrumentation. She goes on to praise her love for 'always see[ing] the best in me.' She recalls how 'Your loving arms have cradled me' and 'You held me close' as the music begins to swell behind her. A chorus falls in behind Dolly as she sings the start of the chorus: 'I wouldn't be here if you hadn't been there.' Parton took to social media to thank loved ones and fans for their support as she adjusts to life without her husband. 'This is a love note to family, friends and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards and flowers that you've sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl,' she wrote. 'I can't reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me. 'He is in God's arms now and I am okay with that,' she added. In 2015, Dolly told People that part of the secret to their enduring love was that she and Carl were pleasantly different from each other. 'They say that opposites attract, and it's true,' she explained. 'We're completely opposite, but that's what makes it fun. I never know what he's gonna say or do. He's always surprising me.' She later shed more light on why her husband avoided the spotlight, which he 'never wanted to be in,' in a 2023 episode of What Would Dolly Do? Radio on Apple Music. 'He went to one thing with me early on, when we first married, to a BMI Song of the Year [event], and he came out of there taking off his tuxedo, his tie and all that and said, "Don't ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain't going." I never asked him and he never did,' she recalled. The singer previously said that Dean spent most of his time at their estate in the suburb of Brentwood, near Nashville. However, he could presumably come and go as he pleased, as he didn't have a famous visage, unlike his superstar wife. Despite Dolly's enormous success — and the life of luxury that it provided for them — the two never had any children. While speaking to Saga Magazine in 2023, the performer shed some light on why she and Carl kept their family as a duo. 'When you're a young couple, you think you're going to have kids, but it just wasn't one of those burning things for me,' she explained. 'I had my career and my music and I was traveling. If I'd had kids, I'd have stayed at home with them. I'm sure and worried myself to death about them.' They never had any children. Although Dolly said they weren't opposed to children and had names picked out in case, it wasn't a priority for either of them; seen in June 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee Later, she felt vindicated by her decision, as she would 'hate to be bringing a child into this world right now' due to 'everything that's going on.' However, in 2014 she told Billboard that she and Carl weren't opposed to having children, and admitted they even had names picked out if they ended up having any. The same year, she told People: 'I often think, it just wasn't meant for me to have kids so everybody's kids can be mine.' Back in 1977, she also told the publication that for her cover story that she wouldn't want to have children if it meant 'leav[ing] them for somebody else to raise while I have a career.' The 9 To 5 singer first met her future husband in a place most wouldn't peg as a hotbed of romance — the laundromat. But both Dolly and Carl described the fateful meeting in 1964 as love at first sight in later interviews. 'I'd come to Nashville with dirty clothes,' she told the New York Times. 'I was in such a hurry to get here — and after I'd put my clothes in the machine, I started walkin' down the street, just lookin' at my new home, and this guy hollered at me, and I waved. Bein' from the country, I spoke to everybody.' Dolly said she had a feeling that the mystery man approaching her would become a major figure in her life. 'He came over and, well, it was Carl, my husband,' she declared. The two began dating shortly afterward, and Carl proposed to Dolly around two years later, in 1966. Although she was over the moon, the songstress later recalled that her manager at the time thought being engaged, and then married, could harm her career at that early stage. She decided against a large wedding because of his warning, but she and Carl were still determined to get married, so they opted to tie the knot with just the pastor of Ringgold Baptist Church in Ringgold, Georgia, officiating. The only witnesses to the low-key ceremony on May 30, 1966, were the pastor's wife and Dolly's mother, Avie Lee Owens, she told Local 3 News in Tennessee in 2012. 'I had bought a little dress, momma had bought me a Bible, some flowers on it. We grabbed momma and went back, and got married on a Monday, in a church,' she recounted. The nuptials were so small scale that Dolly and Carl didn't even have time to celebrate, as she said they both had to go back to work the following day.

Former NFL reporter turned right-wing pundit Michele Tafoya caught red-handed recycling years-old photo

Michele Tafoya, the former NFL sideline reporter who has rebranded herself as a conservative firebrand, was called out for unsportsmanlike conduct this week when she was caught recycling an old letter from a fan calling her the 'voice of reason.' Tafoya, who ended her NBC Sports career in 2022 to jump headlong into GOP politics and right-wing punditry, tweeted on Tuesday afternoon an image of a note that she had ostensibly just received while she was traveling. 'Thank you to the flight attendant who handed this to me in flight,' Tafoya captioned the photo, which showed her holding a handwritten letter personally thanking her for being a 'voice of reason' and bringing the attendant 'a little hope in what seems a dark world.' It didn't take long, however, for social media sleuths to discover that Tafoya had shared this same exact note in a previous post. And when she first tweeted it out, Tafoya used it as an opportunity to promote her podcast, which supposed flight attendant had praised as 'wonderful.' 'While on a flight to NYC to appear on @Gutfeldfox I was handed this note by a flight attendant. I won't reveal the person's name, but this made my day, to say the very least!!!!! Maybe this will inspire you to SUBSCRIBE,' Tafoya noted in May 2023, making sure to highlight her appearance on Fox News host Greg Gutfeld's panel show. As soon as it was revealed that Tafoya had reused the exact same note in an effort to juice social media engagement – her post on X now contains a Community Note linking back to the original photo – the mockery over the MAGA commentator's stunt came flooding right in. It also led many critics to express doubt that the letter was ever written by a star-struck flight attendant in the first place. 'You should at least delete the old one before you tell the same totally real story again. At least you used a slightly different photo,' attorney Damin Toell quipped, acknowledging that Tafoya had posted an image of the letter from another angle. 'Michelle, you lying **** of a stunt queen. At least get a new letter!' film critic John Rocha tweeted. 'Sure feels like you wrote it yourself if you could produce the exact same letter and handwriting in 2023 AND 2025. Pulling a William Hurt in Broadcast News with your manufactured emotion here.' 'This did not happen when you posted it in 2023 and it did not happen today. No one wants to subscribe to your dumb s***,' internet personality Tony Posnanski snarked. Amid the onslaught of online ridicule over her clout-chasing reposting of the fawning in-flight letter, Tafoya has done what many others before her have tried when they've become the main character on social media – tweet through it. On Tuesday evening, she posted a short clip captioned 'Why Communism Fails Every Time,' only to find that the majority of respondents were still poking fun at her for using a recycled photo. One social media user also flagged one of Tafoya's tweets from last year in which she blasted Kamala Harris' campaign for posting a clip of a four-year-old JD Vance interview. 'They are lying and they don't care that they are lying,' she noted at the time. As of publication, Tafoya has yet to publicly address or acknowledge the repeated posting of the note. The Independent has reached out to Tafoya's representatives for comment.
