GuocoLand secures S$619.3 million green loan for River Valley Green development
The green loan was jointly provided by UOB, Bank of China's Singapore branch and OCBC under GuocoLand's Green Finance Framework.
This is the latest in a string of green financing initiatives the developer has tapped for its portfolio of integrated and sustainable developments.
The 99-year leasehold site, awarded to GuocoLand in February 2025, is strategically located next to Great World MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line. Spanning 11,736 square metres, the site offers direct access to Kim Seng Park and the Singapore River. The development will feature about 455 residential units across two towers, as well as commercial shops on the ground floor.
Dora Chng, GuocoLand's residential director, said: 'With direct connectivity to the Thomson-East Coast Line, residents of the future development at River Valley Green will have convenient access to all parts of Singapore, in addition to enjoying the wide selection of shopping and dining options right at their doorstep.'
She added: 'Residents can also look forward to scenic views of the city and of Singapore River, as well as GuocoLand's signature features such as lush landscaping and efficient, generous layouts that enhance the liveability of the development.'
Upon completion, the development is set to achieve the Building and Construction Authority's Green Mark Platinum (Super Low Energy) certification with Maintainability Badge, which signifies a building's exceptional energy efficiency and commitment to sustainable design, construction and operation, with a focus on ease of maintenance.
This project adds to GuocoLand's expanding pipeline of green-certified developments. The developer has already secured green financing for its integrated mixed-use projects such as Guoco Tower and Guoco Midtown, and high-end residences including Lentor Modern, Lentor Mansion, and the upcoming Springleaf Residence and Faber Walk development.

STI falls on Friday, in tandem with most regional indices; STI down 0.3%
[SINGAPORE] The Straits Times Index (STI) closed lower on Friday (Jul 25), mirroring most regional indices. The STI fell 0.3 per cent or 11.99 points to 4,261.06. Across the broader market, advancers outnumbered decliners 335 to 245 after 2.2 billion shares worth S$1.8 billion changed hands. The trio of local banks closed lower on Friday, with DBS down 0.3 per cent or S$0.15 at S$49.06. UOB dropped 0.6 per cent or S$0.21 to S$37.15 and OCBC ended 0.5 per cent or S$0.09 lower at S$17.18. BT's new Sustainability Impact Dialogue seeks to spark change for good
[SINGAPORE] As sustainability grows more urgent, so does the need for deeper, action-oriented conversations. The inaugural Sustainability Impact Dialogue aims to help fill that gap. Held at SPH Media's Studio+65, the four-part series is a new extension of the Sustainability Impact Awards (SI Awards), now in its third edition and jointly organised by The Business Times and UOB. The first session, themed 'Navigating Sustainability Forward', will take place on Jul 22 and will feature Dr Amy Khor, former senior minister of state for sustainability and the environment, and Eric Lim, UOB's chief sustainability officer. Moderated by BT editor Chen Huifen, the dialogue will explore how businesses are moving beyond compliance and positioning sustainability as a driver of innovation, resilience, and brand value. While the first session is a closed-door event with a small audience, which includes C-suite leaders from corporates, a post-event coverage will be published in BT for those interested in the key insights and discussions. Singapore shares continue to climb on strong sentiment, tracking regional indexes; STI up 1%

The buoyant sentiment lifted the Straits Times Index (STI) by 1 per cent or 41.77 points to 4,273.05. Trading volumes were solid with 2.4 billion shares worth $1.9 billion changing hands while gainers outnumbered losers 356 to 223. The banks were among the big winners here with DBS up 2.2 per cent to $49.21 while UOB added 0.3 per cent to $37.36 and OCBC advanced 0.3 per cent to $17.27.
