
Nurse dies by suicide in hostel in Cuttack
CUTTACK: A 25-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in a private working women's hostel at Charigharia in Jobra on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Kalpana Das of Balasore, was working as a nurse at a private hospital in Jobra since the last two months. She was found hanging inside the bathroom of her hostel.
According to the police, Kalpana was with her roommates till around 9.45 pm, following which she went inside the bathroom. However, when she didn't return for over an hour and didn't respond to knocks and calls, the inmates broke open the bathroom door and found her hanging. After checking her pulse, they found that she had died.
Upon being informed, Malgodown police arrived at the scene, seized the body, and sent it to SCB medical college and hospital for postmortem. 'According to her inmates, Kalpana was neither mentally distressed nor overburdened with work. She also didn't have any enmity. Further investigation is on,' police said.

Woman ends life with eight-year old daughter over property dispute in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A woman tied her eight-year-old daughter to her back and ended their lives by jumping into an agricultural pond. The incident occurred on the outskirts of Bengaluru, under the Vishwanathapura police station limits, around 3 am on Saturday. The deceased are Mala (30), a homemaker, and her younger daughter Anushree (8), a Class 2 student at a private school. Mala is survived by her husband and daughter aged 10. Investigations revealed that the woman took the extreme step following a property dispute at home. Her husband had transferred 10 guntas of land to a relative after a discussion with his mother and brother. They later found their bodies floating in the agricultural pond and alerted the police. Based on a complaint filed by the woman's family, a case under section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the BNS has been registered against her husband, police added. Man hangs self in school near Hebbal in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: The students of a private school in Mariyannapalya near Hebbal were shocked to find the body of a man hanging from the ceiling, in the school premises on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Rajendra (48), is suspected to have died by suicide. Rajendra hailed from Tamil Nadu, and worked at a construction site within the school premises, where he also used to sleep. On Wednesday morning, he apparently called up his wife, asking her to transfer Rs 20,000 to his bank account, which she refused to do. Frustrated, he consumed alcohol at night before hanging himself in an under-construction room. 'On Thursday morning, some students who went near the construction site to keep food provided by ISKCON, spotted the body hanging from the ceiling and began screaming. Some teachers, who also saw the body, reported the matter to the police,' said an officer. Subsequently, the school management declared a holiday and sent all the students home. Cheated by business partner, 43-year-old dies by suicide
HYDERABAD: A 43-year-old businessman, Muralidhar Reddy, died by suicide on Wednesday morning, allegedly over being cheated by his business partner and the company's accountant. Police said Muralidhar took the extreme step at his penthouse in Suraram between 5.30 am and 6 am while the rest of the family was asleep. A suicide note was found in his pocket, in which he accused Satyanarayana Goud and Phani Kumar of cheating him of Rs 30 lakh. He wrote that the betrayal had left him feeling like a 'useless fellow' in front of others. Police foil suicide bid Miyapur police rescued a woman from Secunderabad who attempted to die by suicide due to health issues on Wednesday. The woman, a mother of three working as a caretaker at a residence in Jubilee Hills, had reportedly been battling severe headaches and other health complications that led to depression. According to police, she went to the Hafizpet Railway Station, where she made a distress call to her family.
