Purple Alert issued for missing Florida woman. Here's what it means and how you can help
Cynthia Padgett was last seen in Glen St. Mary and may be traveling in the Ocala area, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Missing and Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse.
If spotted, officials said not to approach her but to contact law enforcement immediately.

A Purple Alert was issued June 10 for missing Florida woman Cynthia Padgett.
Padgett, 57, was last seen in the 17600 block of North Tommie Road in Glen St. Mary, according to the FDLE.
She was wearing a gray shirt and red-and-black checkered pajama pants. She may be wearing glasses.
Padgett may be traveling in a 2013, white Ford Fiesta with a Florida tag IFTP94.
The FDLE said Padgett may be traveling in the Ocala area.
"If located, DO NOT APPROACH. Contact law enforcement immediately," the FDLE said.
Glen St. Mary is located about 25 miles west of Jacksonville.
Ocala is about 70 miles south of Glen St. Mary.
The Florida Purple Alert is used to assist in the location of missing adults suffering from a mental or cognitive disability that is not Alzheimer's disease or a dementia-related disorder.
Their disappearance poses a credible threat of immediate danger or seriously bodily harm.
Purple Alerts engage the public in the search for the missing person and provide a standardized and coordinated community response.
As of June 11, there were 10 active Purple Alerts on the FDLE's website. The oldest is a man, Herbert McKinnon, missing from Orlando since June 2022.

The alert flyer will be sent directly to your home computer, smart phone or other email capable device.
Florida's Purple Alert Plan was established by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis on July 1, 2021, with an effective date of July 1, 2022.
The person is 18 years of age or older and does not qualify for a state level Silver Alert.
An investigation has determined the missing person:
Has any combination of the following: an intellectual or developmental disability, brain injury; or another physical, mental, or emotional disability that is not related to substance abuse and
Does not have Alzheimer's disease or a dementia related disorder.
Has your law-enforcement agency's investigation concluded the disappearance poses a credible threat of immediate danger or serious bodily harm to the missing person and they can only be returned to safety through law-enforcement intervention?
Is there a detailed description of the missing person suitable for distribution?
Has your agency entered the missing person into the Florida Crime Information Center?
Does the law-enforcement agency of jurisdiction recommend activation?
If you have a loved one missing you should contact your local law-enforcement agency immediately. The law-enforcement agency will take a report and determine whether a Purple Alert is appropriate.
If the agency determines that the case meets the criteria for a Purple Alert, they will contact the FDLE Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse. Only law enforcement can request a Purple Alert.
Contact the local law-enforcement agency of jurisdiction where the missing person was last seen.

Missing child alert issued for 7-month-old last seen in Hollywood months ago, authorities say
A missing child alert has been issued after a South Florida family told authorities they had not seen their baby niece since December of last year. On Thursday, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Persons Information Clearinghouse issued a missing child alert for seven-month-old Baby Angelina, who was last seen in the area of 3000 Sheridan Street in Hollywood on Dec. 16, 2024. Following the alert, Hollywood Police issued another alert, asking for the public's help in finding the infant child. Angelina is believed to be with 19-year-old Samantha Feliz and 20-year-old Alejandro Leon Jr., who are the infant's parents, Hollywood Police and FLDE said. According to Hollywood Police, a concerned family member reported Angelina's disappearance after claiming he had not seen his niece "for quite some time," and that Feliz had made some "unsettling comments." Detectives have been working diligently to find Feliz and Leon, who Hollywood Police said are both experiencing homelessness. According to FDLE, Feliz and Leon may be using electric scooters and may be known as "The Scooter People." Additionally, FDLE said if Feliz and Leon are found, do not approach them and contact law enforcement immediately. Ellis George LLP: CA Court of Appeal Upholds $5 Million Jury Verdict Against Bristol-Meyers-Squibb-owned Impact Biomedicines
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ellis George LLP announced that The California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, has reversed a trial court order that reduced a jury verdict against Impact Biomedicines and instead reinstated the original $5,020,000 award. Impact Biomedicines, a division of Bristol-Meyers-Squibb, and Impact Biomedicine's founder and owner, Dr. John Hood, must pay San Diego physician and Alzheimer's researcher James Brewer M.D., Ph.D., more than $1 million in compensatory damages and $4 million in punitive damages in a fraudulent concealment case filed in 2019. Dr. Brewer, chair of the neurology department at UC San Diego, was represented by Christopher W. Arledge and Courtney L. Mitchell, both of Ellis George LLP, and Peter Afrasiabi of One LLP. At trial in the San Diego County Superior Court, a 12-member jury awarded Dr. Brewer more than $5 million, finding that Impact Biomedicines and Dr. Hood had defrauded Dr. Brewer as part of Impact Biomedicines' effort to end an FDA-mandated clinical hold and get Impact Biomedicines' experimental cancer drug approved. Key West man arrested after officials say he uploaded child porn, bestiality videos on Snapchat
A man was arrested on Friday in Key West for possessing child abuse materials and engaging in sexual activity involving animals, police said. Jorge Tyler Perez, 28, is charged with one count of possession of child sexual abuse material and 14 counts of sexual activities involving animals, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. According to Perez's arrest form, in November 2024, FDLE agents received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children that a Snapchat user, who authorities confirmed later was Perez, uploaded files showing child sexual abuse material. Authorities found during an investigation that Perez also uploaded videos of bestiality. On Friday, authorities conducted a search warrant and seized an electronic device. Tyler Perez was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail. Homeland Security Investigations and the Key West Police Department assisted with the investigation. This is a developing story.
