Jimmy Thelin believes HJK Helsinki will provide "the perfect platform" for Vicente Besuijen to "flourish" after the Aberdeen winger joined the Finnish side on a six-month loan.Besuijen, 24, has made 57 appearances for the Dons since joining in January 2022, scoring 11 goals, but missed the second half of last season with a knee injury.Manager Thelin says the former Netherlands youth international has "worked hard in pre-season and has a clear desire to play regularly, but Aberdeen haven't been able to promise him that".Besuijen enjoyed a loan spell at Excelsior Rotterdam in the first half of 2023 before a temporary move to Eerste Divisie side FC Emmen in January 2024.Thelin believes HJK - who Aberdeen bought Topi Keskinen from - is "the right opportunity" for the winger."This move should provide Vicente the game time he needs in a competitive league with a team who have European football to look forward to and we hope it is the perfect platform for him to flourish," added Thelin.

Oleksandr Usyk's next opponent lined up days after Dubois victory

Oleksandr Usyk has been officially ordered by the WBO to face Joseph Parker, his mandatory challenger, for the heavyweight title. The WBO issued a statement on Thursday, 24 July, giving both parties 30 days to negotiate an agreement before proceeding to a purse bid. Usyk regained his undisputed heavyweight status by defeating Daniel Dubois for the second time on Saturday, 19 July, at Wembley Stadium. Joseph Parker secured his WBO interim title by knocking out Martin Bakole in February, following the cancellation of his bout with Dubois. Usyk has the option to relinquish the WBO title to avoid the fight, a strategy he previously employed by giving up the IBF title to facilitate his rematch with Tyson Fury.

FA issue England manager warning ahead of Euros final

The Football Association (FA) is determined to retain Sarina Wiegman as England manager, with chief executive Mark Bullingham stating she is "not for sale" at any price. Wiegman has reached five consecutive major tournament finals, including the last three with the Lionesses, and will lead them in the Euro 2025 final against world champions Spain. Her current contract with the FA extends until the end of the 2027 Women's World Cup, and Bullingham expressed confidence in keeping her in charge. Bullingham praised Wiegman as a "special coach" for her exceptional tournament record, work with players, and ability to maintain a cool head in critical moments. He dismissed suggestions that Wiegman should be considered for the England men's job, asserting it is disrespectful to view the men's role as more senior.

Lewis Hamilton's frank response to Christian Horner's departure

Lewis Hamilton has paid tribute to Christian Horner following his departure as Red Bull team principal a fortnight ago. Horner, 51, was in charge of Red Bull for 20 years, during which the team secured 14 world championships. Hamilton, now at Ferrari, described Horner's work at Red Bull as 'remarkable' and acknowledged his skill in running such a large organisation. He recalled an initial meeting with Horner in 2005 when Hamilton was looking to enter GP2, noting they didn't 'hit it off from the get-go'. Hamilton wished Horner all the best, despite their long-standing rivalry on the Formula 1 circuit.
