Actress alleges molestation by temple priest

MALAYSIAN actor and TV host Lishalliny Kanaran has bravely come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by a temple priest at a Hindu temple in Salak Tinggi, revealing a deeply traumatic incident that occurred in what she believed was a sacred and safe space. Taking to Instagram, Lishalliny shared her ordeal with raw honesty: 'This is hard. This is definitely hard for me to share... I now have the strength to say why.' On June 21, she visited the temple alone while her mother was in India. Though never deeply religious, she had recently been seeking spiritual guidance and learning how to pray. The priest at the temple — someone she had trusted — offered to tie a protective string and bless her with holy water. 'Even as I followed him [to the office], something didn't feel right. Something in my gut was uneasy,' she recounted. Inside the temple's office, the priest allegedly poured an overpowering liquid into the holy water and splashed it on her face, stinging her eyes. Then, under the guise of a blessing, he asked her to lift her Punjabi suit. She refused. 'Suddenly, he held my head and continued murmuring... and then, without warning, he put his hands inside my blouse, into my bra, and started touching me inappropriately.' When she froze in shock, unable to move or speak, the priest allegedly told her: 'It would be a blessing if you did 'it' with me because I serve God.' 'The one place I thought I'd find peace, the one place I was seeking a connection with something greater — that was where it happened. At a temple,' she shared. In the comments under Lishalliny's post, another woman courageously shared that she had experienced a similar incident at the same temple on 30 June 2025 — just nine days after Lishalliny's ordeal. For two weeks, Lishalliny kept the incident to herself — crying herself to sleep, feeling ashamed, and breaking apart quietly. On July 4, after her mother returned, she finally found the courage to speak. Her family reacted immediately, lodging a police report that same day. Police launch manhunt for suspect Following the police report, a manhunt is now underway to track down the monk who allegedly molested the victim at the temple. According to The Star, Sepang district police chief Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman confirmed that the victim lodged a report on Friday (July 4). It is learnt that the suspect is a substitute at the temple in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, as the regular priest is overseas. Norhizam added the suspect sprinkled water on the victim as part of a prayer ritual before allegedly molesting her. Efforts to trace the suspect are underway, with the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for intent to outrage modesty. In her post, Lishalliny saidwhen her family went along with her to the temple to confront the accused, they discovered he had already fled the scene. The temple management seemed more concerned with protecting the temple's image than with addressing the allegations. 'Apparently, someone had already reported him before — and no action was taken,' Lishalliny revealed. The chairman claimed the priest had vanished and downplayed their connection to him. Throughout the entire process, Lishalliny felt like the temple leadership and even some authorities weren't entirely supportive. 'They tried to talk me into silence. But I won't stay quiet anymore.' Standing for Others Lishalliny made it clear that her intention in sharing her story is not to seek pity, but to stand for those who have suffered in silence — and to tell them they are not alone. 'You are not to blame. You did nothing wrong. And if you ever need someone — I'm here. You are not alone.' Among the voices rallying behind Lishalliny following her post is Indian playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada, who herself was ostracised from the Tamil film industry after speaking out during the #MeToo movement in 2018. In a comment, Chinmayi wrote: 'I stand with you. I hope you approach the police and report this, since I'm seeing another comment that this has happened to someone else at the same temple.' 'And always remember: IT IS NOT AND NEVER YOUR FAULT. IT IS NOT YOUR SHAME.'

Hot wheels expo set to rev up with art and music

Porsche 911 GT3 RS cars wrapped to replicate the Hot Wheels vehicles that will be showcased at Art of Speed Malaysia 2025 at MAEPS in Serdang, Selangor from July 26 to 27. — YAP CHEE HONG/The Star BRENDON Vetuskey, a celebrated toy designer from the United States, is set to energise the Hot Wheels Collectors Convention Malaysia at Art of Speed Malaysia (AOS) 2025. AOS is an annual event showcasing various artwork formats in an automotive setting. AOS 2025 – which takes place on July 26 and 27 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) – marks the third year of collaboration with Hot Wheels, a popular scale model car series. More than 20 international guests from the custom vehicle and creative media scene would be making appearances at the event, continuing the organiser's efforts to promote knowledge- sharing and community building. AOS this year will feature a diverse showcase of custom culture exhibitions, global guests and activities suitable for all ages. New additions to this year's event include a World of Wheels exhibition presented by a special outdoor photo studio for cars and an indoor photo studio for motorcycles — with the latter two offering a chance for owners to have their vehicles professionally photographed. 'This year, we've replaced the usual lucky draw with a 'Kembara Passport' game, in which participants need to complete activities, collect stamps and spin the wheel for a prize,' said AOS Malaysia founder Asep Ahmad Iskandar. Asep says AOS creates a bridge that connects automotive, music and art communities. 'This way, everyone goes home with a gift. 'Some lucky participants will even win trips abroad to countries such as Indonesia, Japan and Thailand,' he said during a press conference at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort, Kuala Lumpur. Asep said AOS started in 2012 as a small show aimed at bringing like-minded communities together. 'We wanted to create a bridge between different communities. 'Since then, we have built a space that connects the dots from motorcycles to music to art, bringing these different creative communities under one roof. 'We believe art exists in everything and through that, we found a way to bring people together and that is how the name Art of Speed was created.' A 'SoundCircus Takeover' music event will be held at Hall A as part of the two-day AOS 2025. It will feature performers such as Noh Salleh and Restore Iboe, Romantic Echoes, Ruffedge, Luqman Podolski, Fugo and Langkawi Dub Club Sound-System. An online early bird special for AOS tickets is available for a limited time, with the weekend pass priced at RM35 and Sunday pass at RM40. Both passes are priced at RM50 each for walk-ins. Entry is free for children below 12 years old and disabled (OKU) card holders. For tickets and details, visit

#NSTviral: TikTok clip of rider's swing joy brings smiles [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A p-hailing rider found a moment of joy on a porch swing and brought thousands along for the ride on TikTok. In a 31-second video posted by TikTok user @gunalini84, the rider is seen entering a home compound to pick up an item for delivery. As the sender prepared the parcel, the rider noticed a swing hanging from the porch and hopped on. "I always welcome p-hailing riders to chat while I get their items ready. This Malay guy suddenly sat on the swing, lifted his feet and started playing. "He said the swing at his playground back home is broken. I felt so happy for him," the video caption read. The rider was also seen tugging the swing's ropes, seemingly checking its strength. The video has since racked up over 74,000 views, with hundreds of commenters touched by the rider's simple joy and the homeowner's warmth. @atiqahmowari said: "You're so kind, kakak. If I saw a swing, I'd want to get on it too. Back when we were kids, we really made the most of playing on swings." L21i1i said: "Thank you so much for your kindness. My husband also works as a courier driver, sometimes he doesn't even have time to eat. When a customer offers him just a drink, he's already so grateful, especially in this hot weather." Hanis KJ said: "Inner child healed. Llet him enjoy himself. It is exhausting delivering food and parcels everywhere. May his livelihood continue to grow." San Thi360 said: "No matter how grown up we are, our childish side still hides within us. "Whenever I pass by Marrybrown, the first thing I check is whether the swing is empty. If it is, I quickly grab the spot, order something simple and enjoy the swing."
