Girl ‘falls overboard from 4th deck of Disney Dream cruise ship' sparking frantic rescue mission
A GIRL reportedly fell overboard from a Disney cruise vessel, sparking an urgent rescue mission.
The incident happened when the Disney Dream ship was returning back to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 29.

The ship was heading back to Florida as part of a four-day trip to the Bahamas.
Kevin Furuta, a passenger on board the vessel, which can carry up to 3,500 travelers, claimed a girl fell from the fourth deck of the ship.
In a Facebook post, he said the child's dad jumped into the water in a frantic bid to save his daughter.
Furuta revealed passengers heard the man overboard alarm on the ship's loudspeaker.
Fellow passenger Dewayne Smith said the crew jumped into action "asap."
"Lots of praying folks on this ship!" he wrote on Facebook.
"Both the little girl and dad were both successfully rescued!"
A Disney Cruises official told the Fox affiliate WOFL-TV that two people were rescued from the water swiftly.
'We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes,' they said.
'We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols."
The ship has plexiglass barriers, so it remains unknown how the girl went overboard.
The Disney Dream vessel is due to dock in Florida on June 30.
It departed Fort Lauderdale on June 26 before arriving in Nassau, The Bahamas, the following morning.
The ship then toured around Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on June 28.
It cost $900 million to build in 2010 and it has 14 decks.
The vessel, which has 1250 cabins, was last refurbished in 2024, according to Cruise Mapper.
And, it can reach top speeds of 25mph.
In December, a man, 51, traveling on board a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel heading to the Bahamas went overboard.
A frantic search was launched before it was later abandoned after officials could not find the passenger.
The vessel was in the middle of a Caribbean voyage, having left Port Canaveral on December 21.
In December last year, a man vanished without a trace after falling overboard from the Ruby Princess cruise ship.

A father and child were rescued from the water after going overboard a Disney Cruise Line ship on Sunday afternoon. The child sat on the rail of the Disney Dream cruise ship while the father was taking a picture on Sunday, according to passenger Gar Frantz, who said he was on the fourth floor deck at the time of the incident. Then the child fell overboard, Frantz said. 'We watched it, you could see two little was crazy, it was horrific,' Frantz said about seeing the father and child in the water. Passenger Gail Merrick said she was playing bingo aboard the cruise ship, which was traveling from Florida to the Bahamas and back,when she noticed a commotion on the deck. Merrick said she saw a yellow boat with crew members on it attempting what she was told was a rescue. "We came to find out that it was a child and then the father had gone in after the child, so we were watching with bated breath basically waiting for what would happen," Merrick told NBC News. "When they did officially get the people, everyone cheered," Tackett said. "It was a good moment." Brenda Tackett, James' mother, said when she heard that two people had fallen overboard, she texted her two children who were on the cruise to get in touch with her. The ship's crew handled the incident really well, she said. "The Disney Cruise Line staff were phenomenal, the crew, everybody was on it," Brenda Tackett said. "You could tell they've practiced this, hopefully have never used it before but they were great. The whole thing was maybe 10, 15 minutes and they safely got back on board."
