Orlando Pirates' new target from Mali emerges!

Orlando Pirates are linked with Malian midfielder Abdoulaye Mariko who currently plays his football in his country.
Mariko is a 23-year-old central midfielder who's currently on the books of Djoliba AC, but could find his way to the PSL.
According to a report by UnplayableZA , the little-known Mariko is linked with Pirates ahead of next season.
Prior to his move to Djoliba AC, Mariko played for AS Real Bamako where he made his professional debut in 2022.
He has already had a taste of Caf Inter-club football having featured in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Mariko has seven CAF Champions League appearances with Djoliba AC and six CAF Confederation Cup matches with AS Real Bamako.
And with Abdeslam Ouaddou having recently joined Pirates, he could be instrumental in the club's interest in Mariko given his connections in other African countries. Abdeslam Ouaddou is the new Orlando Pirates coach. Image: @orlandopirates/X

Orlando Pirates player told to thank ancestors and God

They call him the Master Chef. Orlando Pirates will compete in next season's Betway Premiership with Sipho Mbule as one of the new options in central midfield. The 27-year-old from Bethlehem, Free State, was available on a free transfer after Mamelodi Sundowns opted against a contract renewal on his expired deal. According to reports, Mbule lost his place at Sundowns after he had reported for training under the influence of alcohol. His agent, Mike Makaab, soon offered Mbule to Kaizer Chiefs, but Amakhosi seemingly took too long to make a decision. Kaizer Chiefs news: Amakhosi money and another star from Europe Sipho Mbule at Sekhukhune United. Image: SuperSport TV While many were still anticipating Amakhosi's decision, the Buccaneers astounded the nation via X, Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday: 'Orlando Pirates is pleased to welcome Sipho Mbule to the Club,' the short statement ended. Orlando Pirates news: Sipho Mbule and a special meeting According to Khanye, whose playing career was cut short due to the same ill-discipline with alcohol, Mbule should realise he is a lucky man. Khanye feels that the new Orlando Pirates midfielder, given the due commitment and discipline, has the talent to make the Bafana Bafana squad for Afcon 2025. 'Let me be honest, I'm surprised, and he is very lucky,' said Khanye on iDiski TV . 'But he must know one thing, this is a last chance he has now because we have seen players previously at the club who have had the same problems, and they got rid of them. 'Even though fans loved them, the club got rid of them and their careers ended. If you leave Orlando Pirates under such a cloud, it's over. 'Mbule is so lucky, and he must thank his ancestors, God and age for being on his side. He really needs to understand that he is done if anything happens with him at Orlando Pirates. 'I compliment his God-given talent. The boy is one of the best, one of the most talented players, and I cannot wait to see him play with [Patrick] Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, [Mohau] Nkota and [Tshegofatso] Mabasa. 'It's his last chance and if he trains properly, get game time he may even go to the AFCON if he gets his act together,' Khanye concluded. Kaizer Chiefs news: Amakhosi money and another star from Europe

Kaizer Chiefs' troubled left-back position is promising a bright future before the start of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. The first report was Paseka Mako, and he will be announced imminently. New information says Nkanyiso Shinga is close to putting pen to paper on a contract with a Kaizer Chiefs logo on it. According to FARPost, Shinga's club, FC Alverca, and Kaizer Chiefs have agreed on a transfer deal before the new season. Orlando Pirates news: Biokineticist and Pogiso Makhoye Ask most Kaizer Chiefs fans if they believe Amakhosi avoid spending on player transfers, and they will likely concur. Is this true of the Betway Premiership giants? The club's Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung, has dismissed that as a false perception. According to Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs spend plenty of money but may be subject to unfair market prices for players. 'Chiefs pay a lot of money, sir,' Motaung said. 'So, I'm actually quite surprised so I think it is absolute nonsense. If I look at our budgets and I look and the investments we are making into players and the transfer space…Full story here. 'What did Orlando Pirates see in this guy?': Khanye questions

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has questioned Orlando Pirates' decision to hire Abdeslam Ouaddou as their new head coach. The 46-year-old was announced as the club's new coach earlier this week. The Moroccan replaces Jose Riveiro, who left in May to join Egyptians giants Al Ahly. Since Ouaddou's announcement, Orlando Pirates have announced seven new signings. The team is set to camp in Spain for their pre-season training where they will play several teams. Speaking on iDiski TV , Khanye said the Morrocan coach will find it hard at Pirates given the club's succes. 'Pirates are a team full of surprises. The coach knows where he finds the team currently; he has to fit a size 7 while he is a size 3. Pirates have won five trophies, so it's not going to be filling Riveiro's shoes. He did well, I was a critic of him, but he proved me wrong,' he said. 'What did Pirates see in this guy? I saw his team (Marumo Gallants), maybe it's because he beat Orlando Pirates.' 'I saw him at Gallants, his team was playing with high intensity and they were the fittest team in the league. We know that our players will pull up their socks if they are coached by an international coach,' he said. Orlando Pirates finished second in the Betway Premiership behind Mamelodi Sundowns for the third successive season. Although they won the MTN8, the 2024/25 campaign was not considered a success given how the team promised so match.
