Anthea Turner reveals she may have accidentally once smuggled something illegal into Singapore: 'I could've been in Changi Jail!'
She's been on our TV screens since the 80s, and has fronted everything from Top of the Pops to GMTV.
But it could've been a completely different story for Anthea Turner after getting too friendly with a fellow plane passenger on her first holiday abroad.
'You might not be speaking to me! I could have been in Changi Jail!' Anthea, 65, jokes in an exclusive interview with MailOnline Travel.
Anthea was 18 and gone to visit her cousin who was working for Barclays bank in Singapore.
She recalls: 'I saved up all my pocket money, everything I had, really, working in a pottery factory.
'And I just thought it was utterly and totally amazing to get on a plane. And, of course, I was getting on a plane and going nearly to the other side of the world, on my own, to meet my cousin at the other end.'
'But, looking back, I cannot believe what I did,' she continues. 'I was chit-chatting to this guy on the plane, and he told me he worked on an oil rig.
'He was quite charming and a bit of fun and I was 18.
'I had quite a big suitcase with me - you didn't have suitcases on wheels in those days, so everybody lugged their case around – and we're going through Nothing to Declare at Singapore.
'He said to me, 'Oh, that's a big suitcase. Why don't you take my haversack through and I'll take your suitcase through?'
'And I thought, 'What a nice chap. That's really kind of you, because it's so heavy.'
'And we went through and then swapped over the suitcase and haversack, and I went about my way, and my cousin met me.
'I would never do that now – To this day, I wonder what was in that haversack?!'
Despite the potentially accidental smuggling, that wasn't the last time Anthea travelled solo.
She says: 'I'm quite big and brave about travelling on my own to meet up with TV crew or friends, but I've only been on one holiday on my own.
'There would've been a bloke involved, and I thought 'Oh, I just need to clear my head.''
But, despite recently visiting a solo traveller hotel in Crete for a TV show, and now pushing the idea onto her friends, Anthea confesses she's much more comfortable holidaying with her millionaire fiancé Mark Amstrong.
She says: 'I love traveling with Mark, and he's really useful because he speaks about four languages fluently.
'He's also the person who actually enjoys mapping the journey and sorting things out, so it's like I live with my own rep.'
Anthea and Mark recently went on a TUI River Cruise, exploring the European cities along the Danube – and had a great time onboard the TUI Skyla.
'I had never really thought about going on a river cruise before, and I don't particularly know why,' Anthea says. 'I live by the river, and I look at the Thames every day.
'It's not quite as pretty as the Danube or the Rhine, but it has its moments of gorgeousness, and I do like being by water.
'We loved the river cruise because Mark and I had to plan nothing - and we're not completely used to that.
'From the moment you arrive at the airport, you're scooped up, you get to your location, you get to dinner, then they take you to where the boat is, and from there on, all you have to do is decide what you're going to eat.

'For both of us, it was a joy, and all the excursions, everything, oh my goodness.
'I actually came back really relaxed!'
And Anthea was very happy about being recognised 'quite a lot' on the ship.
'I felt like I had a ship full of friends by the time I left,' she finishes. 'And I think everybody felt like that, because there's only about 150 of you, which is just like a big wedding.
'You speak to people, say hello, all the pleasantries, you'll go on a few trips with them, so after seven days, everybody got to know each other.'

Families preparing for summer holidays abroad are being urged to meticulously plan their finances, as new research reveals a significant number are blowing their budgets by hundreds of pounds. A recent survey by Post Office Travel Money indicates that while more than three-quarters (78 per cent) of families are set to travel internationally soon. However, nearly the same proportion (74 per cent) admitted to overspending on their last trip. The Post Office's Holiday Spending Report, released earlier in June, found that families typically exceeded their allocated resort costs – including meals and drinks – by an average of £323. The average family surveyed spent £1,089 against an initial budget of £766. The findings, based on two surveys of over 2,000 people conducted in April and May, highlight the need for careful financial planning to avoid unexpected expenses. 1. Look for a resort where the cost of living is low The Post Office said holidaymakers surveyed in its research rated Spain and Turkey strongly for value. It may also be worth asking friends and family members for their recommendations. 2. Cut the cost of meals and drinks Busy beachside cafes and restaurants in tourist hotspots may be pricier than the places where local residents choose to eat. Local draught beers and carafe wine may also sometimes be less expensive than international brands. 3. Pick a destination where sterling is strong Laura Plunkett, head of travel money at the Post Office, said: 'Despite fluctuations and some uncertainty about sterling when it fell against key currencies earlier in the year, it has now bounced back from its January dip and currently looks stable. This is a reassuring trend for holidaymakers planning trips abroad this year.' Some holidaymakers may have booked to travel to the United States following the strengthening of sterling against the US dollar. The Post Office suggested that holidaymakers may also consider locations where currencies are pegged to the value of the US dollar. 4. Consider self-catering or 'all inclusive' packages Self-catering breaks enable holidaymakers to set their own food and drink budgets. Past Post Office research has indicated that the Balearic Islands offer good value shop prices, while supermarkets in the Algarve and the Costa del Sol have also been seen as offering good value. The Post Office said going all inclusive can also be a good way to rein in costs but urged people to make sure they check what is included in the package price so they do not end up paying unexpectedly for extras. 5. Budget carefully The Post Office suggested setting a realistic budget to cover all costs as well as researching the best exchange rates before travelling and avoiding fees for topping up holiday money spending while abroad. Some holidaymakers may want to consider a pre-paid currency card, or look at banks which do not charge foreign transaction fees. Ms Plunkett said: 'Paying on a debit or credit card may seem like a convenient way to pay for things while abroad, but our research suggests that this can be a costly practice. Far too many holidaymakers told us that they paid significantly more than they anticipated because of transaction charges made for using credit and debit cards at an overseas ATM.' 6. Consider making a shorter trip The Post Office research found some holidaymakers are cutting their costs by making shorter trips, or booking cheaper accommodation to afford their trip abroad. 7. Sidestep 'pester power' Parents told the Post Office that on their last holiday they spent an average of more than £200 on children's beach items such as buckets and spades, swimming masks and snorkels, water rides, ice creams and visits to water parks. Families could consider allowing children to have a set amount of pocket money to spend during their holiday.

Airbnb bookings have surged thanks to Oasis's long-awaited reunion tour. Fans are flocking to towns in areas surrounding the venues for the band's upcoming concerts, the rental site said. There was a 7,500 per cent spike on average for searches in Bury, Rochdale and Stockport – which are near to Manchester's Heaton Park, where Oasis will play five gigs in July – during the weekend tickets went on sale, an Airbnb spokesman said. And Liverpool saw a 1,500 per cent increase in searches. Good Boy – K-drama Episode 10 Recap & Review
Time-Out Episode 10 of Good Boy starts with Jong-hyeon shot and falling in the water. Dong-ju dives in and brings his comrade to the surface, while the gangsters all race away at the sound of sirens. Jong-hyeon is rushed to hospital and the team are left with the obligatory waiting room scene, twiddling their thumbs and hoping for the best. Jong-hyeon is moved to intensive care and it appears he's going to pull through. Dong-ju though is still suffering from his neurological issues, but he hasn't told the rest of the team about this yet. Jong-hyeon does regain consciousness but it seems he's going to be out of commission for a while. Dong-ju also realizes when Jong-hyeon hurt his ankle and it seems his condition is even worse now. Ju-young rings the Mayor of Insung but he ignores the call. This obviously irks our antagonist, so he shows up at a big dinner meeting and spoils the party. Ju-young tortures the Mayor into submission, forcing him to send out the Customs department to the dock while also stuffing cash into his mouth. Man-sik is on the back foot too, regretting putting the team together and blaming himself for getting greedy. Unfortunately, their team is also under investigation and unfortunately their department is disbanded. Fast forward 3 months and Jong-hyeon is cleared to leave the hospital. He learns here that all of his colleagues had initially been suspended and now are off working separate gigs. Jae-hong is back working with the traffic police, while Man-sik is stuck dealing with domestic disputes. Han-na has a very unsatisfying records room gig while Dong-ju is on cleaning duty. He's staying with Man-sik for the time being though, and here we see why. Man-sik actually took pity on Dong-ju in the past and realized he didn't have much of a family growing up. After all those fights at school, Manp-ik is the one who encouraged him to get into boxing and channel his anger. Man-sik has always stood by this kid's side, offering up ways to help him when he's lost or fallen. Han-na arrives to see Jong-hyeon at hospital, bringing up what happened between them. He admits he probably should have told her how bad his ankle injury was at the time but would it have made a difference to their relationship? Either way, Jong-hyeon is clearly still pining over her and he gives no illusions that he wants her. Meanwhile, Yeon-ha shows up to see Ju-young. However, he has the upper-hand, given he knows about Yeon-ha's sister and promises that she'll see her very soon… when he last batch of Candy is done. There's a super awkward moment when Ju-young shows up to se Dong-ju next and decides the pair should share a meal together. What begins in jest ends up as a super awkward moment together. Ju-young encourages him to stop fighting as he'll just end up a punching bag forever, but we know that Dong-ju is not going down without a fight, and he'll continue to hit back every chance he has. As for Han-na, she continues to investigate the Black Cat links she heard Leo mention before. Now, the Black Cat Mob organization were operating in the Russian Far East with a famous smuggler who went by the name of Oh Dollar. The guy died 15 years ago though so it could be the Russian mobster killed. Working in the records room, Han-na looks through the Oh Dollar case file, listed as 'Smuggle Oh Bong-chan' and learns that the cause of death is presumed to be a gunshot to the head. As for Dong-ju, he does his best to take out Ju-young's goons, targeting them thanks to the watches and doing what he can to disrupt Ju-young's business. He targets each illegal business one by one, getting them shut down and the operations suspended. The other team members see the news reports and realize Dong-ju is back on the prowl. He's down but certainly not out, and as he heads to the next spot, he prepares to strike. The Episode Review So as we cross the halfway point of the show it's starting to become clear that the series is falling into a one-note stereotype, with the group being beaten up and knocked down with absolutely zero plot progression. In fact, episode 10 jumps forward several months and still nothing has changed. If anything, Ju-young is even more powerful than he was before and the rest of the group have been taken off the case, even though they seem to be the only ones who actually care about taking these criminals down. The action is definitely keeping this one watchable though and some of the cliffhangers have been genuinely impressive and well delivered. This, alongside the acting, are the two main drives to keep watching this one. It's still disappointing that Jae-hong hasn't had much development, while the antagonists have an overwhelming amount of plot armour. I'm hoping that now Dong-ju is taking out the 'watch goons', he'll slowly start to take out the gang leaders one by one, allowing Ju-young's empire to crumble. In some ways, this does feel a bit reminiscent to Itaewon Class, where the Chairman was just so powerful and the only way to stop him was for someone on the inside to make a last second babyface turn and join the good guys to take him down. Could we see this same plot point with Yeon-ha? Either way, Good Boy has been a solid watch but episodes like this, which feature barely any plot progression at all, definitely hold this back from being a better watch.
