17-year-old found face down in water after boat crash, Arizona cops say
A 17-year-old boy is dead after he was involved in a boat crash, according to Arizona authorities. On June 28, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office Division of Boating Safety responded to Lake Havasu for reports of a person in the water not breathing, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff's office. When deputies arrived, the 17-year-old boy from California was on shore getting CPR, the sheriff's office said. The teen had been on a personal watercraft by himself when his family, who was on shore, lost sight of him, authorities said. A boater passing by later found him wearing a life jacket, floating face-down in the water, according to deputies. That's when he was pulled to shore by people in the area and they began administering CPR. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released. Deputies said the crash is being investigated and that 'evidence on scene suggests that this was a single vessel crash.'

Missing 20-year-old's body found months after boat capsizes in river, WI cops say
A months-long search for a 20-year-old who vanished into 'volatile' Wisconsin waters has ended, police said. Francesco Di Filippo went missing on April 3 when a boat carrying him, his 75-year-old grandfather and one other capsized, according to Wisconsin Dells police, WMTV reported. His body was recovered by Lake Delton officials on June 29, and he was identified based on the clothes he was wearing, police said in a news release. The grandfather, 75-year-old Luis F. Di Filippo of Chicago, was found dead in the river on April 4, police said. The third person in the boat swam safely to shore. The group was out fishing when the fatal accident happened, friends wrote in a GoFundMe. 'I am trying to process never seeing him, but the pain of him missing and living in hope that we can lay him to rest is undescriblable,' his mother Lina Di Filippo Schultz said in a May 8 Facebook post. Search efforts for Francesco were hindered by dangerous and elevated waters, according to police, but loved ones remained hopeful that his body would be found. 'He was such a beautiful soul. He came into our lives at a dark time and brought light,' his girlfriend's mother, Liz Zuelke, said in a Facebook post. Wisconsin Dells is about a 55-mile drive northwest from Madison.

Remains of missing mom found stuffed in metal box, PA cops say. Husband charged
A woman missing for more than a week was found dead inside a metal box on a large plot of land formerly owned by her husband, according to Pennsylvania police and news reports. The June 29 discovery of 33-year-old Katlyn Harp's remains has now led to the arrest of Vincent Lloyd Harp, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release. Katlyn Harp was reported missing June 19, having last been seen at her home in Bloomsburg in Columbia County, according to state police and the Hemlock Township Police Department. According to a text message shared on Facebook by her sister, she told her husband before her disappearance, 'I need a (break)... I need my space to get out of my head.' Troopers have not confirmed if the message was sent by Katlyn Harp, but the criminal investigation eventually ended up at a 38-acre forested property that had been sold by her husband in 2023, according to the Daily Voice. Her remains were discovered June 29 'in a desolate corner' of the woods, WNEP reported, citing local authorities. Her body was hidden inside a metal box, WKOK reported. Her cause of death was not listed, but Columbia County Coroner Jeremy Reese said evidence at the scene suggests she was killed, reported. Vincent Harp, 39, had already been identified as a suspect in his wife's disappearance, WNEP reported. Authorities said blood was found on his UTV, which was sold after his wife disappeared. Cell phone records showed Vincent Harp was in the vicinity of his former property on June 21, more than a week before his wife's remains were found, according to WNEP. State police said Vincent Harp was charged with criminal homicide and tampering with evidence. He was jailed in the Columbia County Correctional Facility without bond. In a GoFundMe, loved ones said Katlyn Harp would be 'deeply missed by all who knew her as a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend.' 'Katlyn was one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet,' loved ones said. 'Her warmth, laughter, and love touched everyone around her.' Bloomsburg is about a 135-mile drive northwest from Philadelphia.
