The funeral was held in the Filmnagar locality of Jubilee Hills, where Chiranjeevi was seen visibly emotional and heartbroken as he offered floral tributes to the veteran actor. In a video that surfaced online, Chiranjeevi is seen placing flowers near Kota Srinivasa Rao's feet, showering petals on his photograph, and folding his hands in prayer. The megastar also interacted with the late actor's family and friends, silently standing in front of Rao's mortal remains with a heavy heart. Thereafter, he acted in hundreds of films, portraying countless diverse roles, captivating Telugu audiences with his unique and distinctive style, and securing a permanent place in their hearts." 'Be it a comedic villain, a serious villain, or a supporting character, every role he played was performed with such brilliance that it felt only he could do it justice," Chiranjeevi added. The megastar also reflected on the irreplaceable loss to Telugu cinema and its audiences: 'The void left by an actor like Sri Kota Srinivasa Rao is one that the film industry and cinephiles will never overcome." He concluded, 'Praying for peace to his soul, I express my profound condolences to his family members, well-wishers, and fans." Kota Srinivasa Rao reportedly passed away due to age-related health issues. He had not been keeping well for the past few days and breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad. A stalwart of Telugu cinema, Rao appeared in over 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages. He was celebrated for his versatility, often portraying complex characters—ranging from comic villains to stern politicians and warm-hearted elders. In addition to his film career, he served as a BJP MLA from the Vijayawada East constituency between 1994 and 2004. In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civilian award. 'Every movie with him was special...': Chiranjeevi remembers Kota Srinivasa Rao

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 13 (ANI): Megastar Chiranjeevi, who visited the residence of late veteran actor Kota Srinivasa Rao in Hyderabad to pay his last respects, remembered the long journey he shared with Rao and also recalled their early days in cinema. Srinivasa passed away early this morning in Hyderabad. The actor was 83. Speaking to the media outside the actor's residence, the megastar called him a "legendary character actor" and shared how their careers began together with the film Pranam Khareedu in 1978. "Kota Srinivasa Rao was a legendary character actor. We both started working from the same movie, Pranam Khareedu. I had a great relationship with him; every movie with him was special," said Chiranjeevi. "The passing of Kota Srinivasa Rao is an irreparable loss to his family and the industry. It's a big loss. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace. I pay condolences to the family," he added. Soon after the news of his death broke, several political leaders, film stars, and close friends began arriving at his residence to pay their last respects. From Tollywood actor Venkatesh to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, many were seen offering condolences to Rao's family. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu condoled his death, calling it an "irreparable loss" to the Telugu film industry. In a post on X, CM Chandrababu Naidu said, "The demise of the renowned actor Kota Srinivasa Rao, who won the affection of cinema audiences with his versatile roles, is deeply saddening. His artistic contributions to the fields of cinema and theatre over nearly four decades, and the roles he portrayed, will remain unforgettable. The numerous memorable roles he played as a villain and character artist will forever stay etched in the hearts of Telugu audiences." Kota Srinivasa Rao was born on July 10, 1942, in Kankipadu village, a suburb of Vijayawada city in Andhra Pradesh. Making his debut with Pranam Khareedu in 1978, he acted in over 750 films in various languages. He also received the Padma Shri in 2015, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, for his contribution to Indian cinema. (ANI)
