Finance Minister Stresses Strategic Cooperation Between Bahrain and Oman
Speaking during a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Oman's Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, who is currently visiting Bahrain, Shaikh Salman highlighted the flourishing state of Bahraini-Omani relations. He credited this progress to the care and attention of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman.
The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Bahrain's Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, His Excellency Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, Omani Ambassador to Bahrain, and several senior officials.
Shaikh Salman underlined the commitment shared by both nations to further expand and deepen bilateral cooperation. He also noted the importance of reciprocal visits in fostering exchange of expertise and strengthening frameworks for joint action. Such collaborations, he added, contribute to the continued prosperity and development of both nations and their people.

Improving Transparency and Cooperation Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Public Prosecutor Wael Rashid Buallay emphasized that the new guide is designed to standardize procedures, promote transparency, and ensure that recovered or seized funds are handled properly. It also aims to protect the rights of innocent third parties and ensures that all steps are taken under proper legal safeguards. He noted that the initiative reflects Bahrain's strong commitment to fighting financial crimes, especially money laundering and terrorism financing, and its belief in the importance of robust international cooperation. A Unified National Effort Buallay praised the efforts of all agencies involved, including the National Policy Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, for their role in crafting a practical and thorough document. The guide is seen as a key step in Bahrain's continuing efforts to track and recover illicit gains and prevent criminals from using cross-border tactics to hide or benefit from illegal wealth.

Oman To Impose Fines Up To RO 20,000, Jail Time For Income Tax Defaulters

Those found guilty of submitting false declarations, concealing income, or falsifying tax records could face prison sentences ranging from one to three years and fines between RO 10,000 and RO 20,000. The legislation, announced in June 2025, represents a critical component of Oman's fiscal reform agenda and its Vision 2040 plan, aimed at reducing reliance on oil revenues and strengthening state finances. Minister of Economy Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri has previously emphasised the country's vulnerability to global oil price volatility, noting that oil and gas still account for up to 85 per cent of public income. Tax experts say the inclusion of criminal penalties for non-filers signals the government's intent to implement the new system with a high degree of seriousness and compliance oversight. The law gives Omani tax authorities broad powers to investigate discrepancies and enforce penalties, setting a precedent in a region historically known for tax-free personal income policies.

Bahrain ‘model of religious freedom and coexistence'
Bahrain is a pioneering model for promoting religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, and national unity in the region. This was emphasised by His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance. He attributed this achievement to the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 'Bahrain has long stood as a beacon of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, offering a civilisational model worthy of emulation,' Dr. Shaikh Abdullah said. 'The Ashura commemoration this year was a clear reflection of our deeply rooted values of tolerance and compassion under the guidance of His Majesty the King and the diligent efforts of the government led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.' The Minister commended the successful and well-coordinated organisation of the Ashura season, noting that it represented Bahrain's genuine commitment to religious and cultural pluralism. He acknowledged the exemplary coordination among relevant government entities — particularly the Ministry of Interior and the governorates — under the leadership and direct supervision of H.E. Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah also praised the collaboration with the Jaffari Endowments Council, religious scholars, community leaders, mourning center coordinators, and volunteer teams, which together ensured the smooth and respectful observance of religious rituals.
