'Deeply moving' TV show that will break your heart lands on Netflix

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video BBC drama Normal People has just arrived on Netflix, and people are warning new viewers to 'grab your tissues'. The widely acclaimed adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel of the same name made waves when it first came out in 2020 on BBC Three – leaving a trail of broken hearts in its wake. The Ireland-based story follows Connell and Marianne from their late teens through to their early 20s as they navigate love, loss and all the ways your first love can haunt you. Portrayed by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, the roles not only catapulted them into global fame but the show landed seven Bafta nominations, including a win for Paul as lead actor. The show has touched several lives for its portrait of the complex relationship our star-crossed lovers share – from their school days when Marianne felt socially rejected by Paul through their early adulthood as they both grow into themselves, and must navigate their own traumas. Set across 12 episodes, it has topped the list of people's favourite TV shows and amassed a loyal fanbase. 'Deeply moving. Lives long in the memory after watching,' Dermot M wrote on Rotten Tomatoes where it enjoys an outstanding 91% score. 'Powerful Perfection. Doesn't get any better than this. Literally my favorite series to ever been made. No flaws from me. Will re-watch again and again. Have the tissues ready every time,' Jackie H said. I have never experienced such a variety of feelings during a show. I was happy, sad, laughed, cried and at some point felt an immense anguish. That's how well these actors performed,' Jerry F declared. Over on Google Reviews, Noel Woodward described it as 'wondrous, magical, messy, complicated and oh so relatable'. 'A beautiful, patient, poetic series about messy love between two damaged, self-loathing people who find meaning and transcendence in a relationship despite their mistakes and inability to quiet the noise in their heads,' Michael Duran echoed. Adeline Jugler called it 'exquisite' while Andy David called it 'painfully beautiful in every possible way'. Last year, Twisters star Daisy told the BBC she 'loves those characters [and] would be wonderful to explore them again.' She added: 'Normal People was a series that was such a lockdown phenomenon. I think it introduced Paul and I to a lot of people and film-makers.' More Trending Since the show both have seen huge success in their careers with Paul landing an Oscar nomination for Aftersun and featuring in the blockbuster sequel Gladiator II. Meanwhile, Daisy has starred as the lead in another hit book adaptation, Where the Crawdads Sing, and is set to lead the remake of the classic novel Sense and Sensibility. So whether it is your 10,000th time rewatching or you have been putting it off for five years, this is your sign to grab a tub of ice cream and click play on Normal People episode one. Lionesses hero Chloe Kelly hosts huge hometown street party as Euros celebrations continue

Chloe Kelly hammered home the decisive penalty as England's women retained the Euros last weekend and the Arsenal star has continued her celebrations by hosting a street party Lionesses star Chloe Kelly threw a huge street party in her hometown after playing a key role in England women's second successive European Championship win. ‌ Kelly scored the winning penalty as England retained their crown, seeing off the Spanish in Switzerland last Sunday. The Arsenal star also scored a late winner in extra-time to down Italy in the semi-final. ‌ It has seen her stock skyrocket and she was among the star names as the Lionesses celebrated with fans in central London earlier in the week. They enjoyed an open top bus parade down the Mall before lapping up the love of the supporters back home. ‌ Kelly's celebrations have extended to a week as she partied on the street with friends and family in Hanwell, west London over the weekend. A video went viral on social media and showed the 27-year-old dancing in the middle of the large group. The Lionesses hero has admitted in the aftermath of the Euros that she was going through some 'dark moments', which had seen her change club, leading to her turning her year around as she responded to those who doubted her. Kelly said: "There were a lot of tears at full-time, especially when I saw my family, because they were the people that come me through those dark moments. 'I am so grateful to be out at the back end, but if that's a story to tell someone who maybe experiences something the same, then tough times don't last and just around the corner was a Champions League final. I won that and now a Euros final, I've won that. So, thank you to everyone that wrote me off, I'm grateful.' Kelly's iconic moments in an England shirt date back to her also scoring the winning goal in extra-time when the Lionesses downed Germany to win their first ever Euros three years ago at Wembley. The Arsenal star walked off the pitch last weekend and told the camera: "The first time was so nice, we had to do it twice." ‌ The 27-year-old has hailed the efforts and influence of Sarina Wiegman, whose success at England women's boss continues to elevate the game with Kelly reserving special praise for her manager. She said: 'What she has done for me, individually, she gave me hope, when I probably didn't have any. She gave me an opportunity to represent my country again. I knew that I had to get game time, because representing England is never a given. But what she has done for the women's game, not just in England, she has taken it to a whole other level." Coronation Street fans 'rumble' who Floyd phoned about Lisa in 'Tia twist'

Coronation Street fans saw Lisa Swain's therapist Floyd making a 'suspicious' phone call about her after their session on the ITV soap, and fans think it's linked to Tia Wardley Therapist Floyd on Coronation Street may have some explaining to do after a "suspicious" phone call. ‌ Now, some fans think they have figured out who he was on the phone to in a cryptic chat after a therapy session with Lisa Swain. It could be a mystery new character if fans are correct, with viewers now suspecting Floyd could be corrupt. ‌ It comes as Carla Connor was snooping into the death of partner Lisa's ex-wife Becky Swain, who died in the line of duty years earlier. Lisa is also digging into the police officer's death, and she tearfully confessed to Floyd on Friday that she believed her wife may have been in trouble, amid continuing mystery surrounding what led to her death. ‌ As she confessed her fears, explaining that the Radcliffe brothers had implied there was more to what happened to her, she admitted her daughter Betsy Swain had visited one of them, Logan, for answers. But Floyd suggested to her the pair may just be trying to get to her. He asked her if she truly thought her wife was corrupt, or maybe Logan and Matty Radcliffe were lying because they had a grudge against her after their recent arrests. Lisa appeared to come around to the latter idea, while she admitted "you never truly know anyone". ‌ As the session ended, Floyd checked in with her and she said: "Maybe you're right," questioning if she'd "been kidding herself" as Floyd seemed keen for her not to believe Becky was corrupt. It's then as Lisa left the room that Floyd got his phone out and called a mystery person. He told the mystery caller: "I think I made a breakthrough with Swain." So was he calling someone to let them know Lisa may drop the Becky case? ‌ Was it Costello, who was seen on his phone after? Was it the person who later told a prisoner to attack Logan after his comments to Carla? Viewers even wondered if it was the mystery Tia Wardley, the name Logan gave to Carla. One fan said: "I think we were meant to believe Floyd was ringing Costello after Lisa's therapy session but what if it was this Tia Wardley??" Another fan said: "Costello." A third fan posted: "Floyd the therapist is compromised, he's part of the it! Costello sent him to shut Lisa down and stop her digging into Becky." Another viewer said: "Who was Floyd on the phone to - was it Costello?"
