Buy this megacap tech stock that's set to rally more than 20% due to AI, says Citizens

The ramp up in artificial intelligence may send shares of Alphabet higher in the coming months, according to Citizens. The investment firm upgraded the "Magnificent Seven" name to market outperform from market perform and set its price target at $220, implying nearly 27% upside from Thursday's close. "We believe AI is a net tailwind, with ChatGPT's impact too small today to move enough queries away from Google to materially impact results, while AI is expanding the search opportunity by answering a broader array of queries and extending monetization as AI better infers user intent," analyst Andrew Boone wrote in a note published Thursday. While the megacap tech stock has fallen more than 8% this year, it has rebounded about 6% over the past three months. It has also jumped more than 4% in the past week amid investor confidence in AI, which propelled other stocks linked to the industry like Nvidia higher this week as well. GOOGL 3M mountain GOOGL, 3-month Boone thinks that Google's AI Overviews – a feature that offers a summary of answers to search questions at the top of Search – will reach 4 billion monthly users by the third quarter of this year, seeing that the feature will cover about two-thirds of queries by the next quarter. That would be up from 1.5 billion monthly users in the first quarter of this year. "With AI Overviews becoming generally available in the U.S. as of May and leading to 10% query growth in testing, we believe AI is a net tailwind," he continued. "Net/net, AI is growing the use of search at a faster rate than ChatGPT is taking share." The analyst also projects that Search revenue growth will accelerate in the second as a result of AI supporting query growth and the development of Google's ad products. Wall Street is mostly bullish on Alphabet, as 43 out of 55 analysts have issued strong buy or buy ratings on the stock. Its nearly $202 consensus target also reflects more than 16% upside from here.

Nvidia insiders dump more than $1 billion in stock, according to report

Insiders at artificial intelligence chipmaker Nvidia have dumped more than $1 billion in stock over the last year, according to a report from the Financial Times. About $500 million worth of sales occurred over the last month as the market notched new highs and shook off geopolitical tensions that had rattled investors, according to the report. The stock is up more than 17% this year despite concerns over curbs limiting AI chip sales overseas and 44% over the last three months. Securities filings revealed that the tech titan recently unloaded about $15 million worth of shares as part of his more than $900 million plan announced in March to sell up to 6 million shares through the end of the year. Huang's net worth totals about $138 billion, placing him as 11th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Last week, the chipmaking giant hit a fresh record and rallied for five straight days following the stock sales and an annual shareholder meeting, where the CEO called robotics the biggest opportunity for the company after AI. That helped the chipmaker regain its seat as the most valuable company ahead Microsoft and Apple. The FT article cited a report from VerityData, which noted that the jump in shares above $150 prompted the stock dump. Last year, Huang unloaded more than $700 million in Nvidia shares as part of a prearranged plan. Nvidia did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment. Could The Data Center Bubble Be About To Pop--Lux Capital Heavyweight Sees Warning Signs

Data centers have been one of the most pleasant surprises in the real estate sector, generating strong returns for real estate investment trust investors for the last several years. The massive facilities are mission-critical pieces of AI infrastructure, which explains why many of the world's biggest tech companies have multi-billion-dollar data center investments. However, Lux Capital partner Josh Wolfe is concerned that the data center sector is showing signs of a bubble ready to pop. Data center spending is on pace to exceed $405 billion in 2025, which is a 23% increase over 2024, according to This sector used to be dominated by data center REITs like Equinix (NASDAQ: EQIX) and Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR). However, they now face competition from tech titans like Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Meta (NASDAQ: META), who would rather own and operate facilities than rent them in perpetuity. Invest early in CancerVax's breakthrough tech aiming to disrupt a $231B market. Back a bold new approach to cancer treatment with high-growth potential. Runaway data center construction drives AI's ever-expanding capabilities, but Wolfe also believes it may be creating "irrational" demand. In May, he told the Axios AI summit that he sees parallels to tech booms of the past. Cloud computing and fiber optic network investments created lots of millionaires in the 1990s and early 2000s. Wolfe remembers that many of those investors were left holding the bag when production outpaced demand. 'I think that you're going to have the same phenomenon now,' said Wolfe. He noted the potential danger of groupthink in the tech sector, where building data centers seems prudent for individual companies. However, he fears that multiple companies building hyperscale data centers simultaneously, 'collectively becomes irrational.' 'It will not necessarily persist,' he warned. Wolfe also said thinks the potential fallout from the bubble popping extends to other sectors. Data centers consume incredible amounts of power, which has driven rapid growth in the nuclear energy sector. 'One take that is related to that is the demands for energy, which is presumed that, because you need all these data centers," Wolfe said. "Then you need small modular reactors, and so you're getting speculative capital that's going into the energy provision therein.' Trending: This Jeff Bezos-backed startup will allow you to become a landlord in just 10 minutes, with minimum investments as low as $100. Wolfe's warning is reminiscent of then- Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan's worry over "irrational exuberance" in the marketplace. It's a cycle that has played itself out for almost as long as people have been investing. A sector gets hot, which causes more investor capital to flow in until suddenly, the sector is oversaturated. During these hot cycles, money continues flowing in long after the best deals have been snapped up. When overheated markets correct, what looked like a "can't miss" investment a few months ago suddenly becomes a white elephant. This causes a massive outflow of capital as all the investors head for the exit door at the same time. Wolfe has seen these cycles come and go throughout his career. "I think that that whole (data center) thing is going to end in disaster, mostly because, as clichéd as it is, history doesn't repeat. It rhymes,' he said at the Axios AI Summit.
