The footage recorded by a woman and posted by an X user named Dott Orikon, shows Ma, known globally for his entrepreneurial prowess, pedaling casually without any visible security around him.
Posted the video, an X user said, 'Although he has retained his position as CEO, his story reminds me of China's Last Emperor, who was pardoned after the revolution (despite collaborating with the Japanese) and became a simple gardener.'
This statement compares Jack Ma to Puyi, China's last emperor. Puyi after losing his imperial power and even collaborating with the Japanese, was eventually pardoned and lived his remaining life humbly by being a gardener.
The video garnered attention from several X users. Some people raised concerns about his safety as he was seen riding on the roads alone at night. The road also appeared quite empty in the posted video.
A user also questioned China's safety, by stating, 'A simple gardener with billions in the bank, is China so safe that billionaires like him don't need body guards?'

While another user mirrored this concern and said, 'Dangerous to be biking at night.'
Some users also questioned his sudden disappearance, adding in their theories.
A user fueled this thought by stating, 'Unless he can give an interview and have people vouch he is alive, have to assume bad things happened to him.'
Another person said, 'I thought he has disappeared. When did he reappear in public and why did he go missing for a while?'
All the questions about Jack Ma's disappearance emerged after he started maintaining extremely low public life in late 2020 following regulatory crackdowns in China. His reduced visibility was also fueled by his critical comments on China's financial system.
Ma lost more than half of his fortune after the incident, which also caused the suspension of Ant Group's IPO where he had 9.9% stake, according to CNN.

Hilton Head drowning: Indian man from Georgia drowns at South Carolina beach
An Indian national was identified as the victim of a drowning in US' South Carolina on Thursday. As per local reports, the 49-year-old from Georgia was caught in a rip current with his son while visiting a beach in Beaufort County in Hilton Head Island. After arriving at the scene, officials learnt at Kundu and his son were caught in a rip current while they were in the water.(Pexels/Representational) As per local reports, the man has been identified as Saumen Kundu, and was a resident of Georgia. In response to the incident, the Indian Consulate in Atlanta confirmed that the man was an Indian national. "We are deeply saddened by the news of a tragic drowning incident near Hilton Head Island that claimed the life of an Indian national. Consulate is coordinating with local authorities and humanitarian groups and extending full support to the family during this difficult time," wrote the consulate on X (formerly Twitter). As per ABC 4 News, the Beaufort County's Sheriff Office received a water emergency call around 7 PM local time. After arriving at the scene, officials learnt at Kundu and his son were caught in a rip current while they were in the water. "Mr. Kundu died on July 24, 2025 at approx. 7:51 pm on scene at a beach in Sea Pines from drowning. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is the investigating police agency," the coroner's office released in a statement, as reported by WJCL. Bystanders who had heard Kundu and his son's calls for help rushed to their aid and tried to assist them. Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue and Shore Beach Service arrived on scene and brought back both victims and the bystanders back to the shore. After both the victims were brought back to the shore, lifesaving measures were implemented. However, the 49-year-old Indian man was declared dead by first responders. As per law enforcement, Thursday's incident marked the fourth drowning in Beaufort County this summer. Earlier this month, another father drowned on Huntin Island after being caught in rough waters with his son. On June 30, a 69-year-old man drowned after he was pulled from the surf near Hilton Head's Coligny Beach Park. On July 1, a 65-year-old photographer was pulled out from the surf at Hunting Island State Park and pronounced dead.

A month and half after Sona BLW's Chairman Sunjay Kapur death, his mother Rani Kapur has written a letter to the Sona Comstar Board and sought deferment of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 25 July. Not only this, Rani Kapur has also alleged in the letter about alleged coercion, misuse of documents, and attempts to usurp family legacy after her son's death. 'Rani Kapur is the head of the Kapur family and head of the Sona group. While she is recovering from the death of her only son, a few events have unfolded that have created some apprehensions for Rani Kapur ji in terms of not just how the death occurred, but also in terms of the legacy,' her lawyer Vaibhav Gaggar had said, while speaking to reporters. Rani Kapur is the widow of late Surinder Kapur, founder of Sona Group. He was instrumental in setting up India's auto component industry following Japanese auto maker Suzuki Motor decided to locally make its small car in 1983 – Maruti Suzuki. With son Sunjay Kapur taking over as the Managing Director of Sona BLW Precision Forgings after Surinder Kapur's death, Rani served as the Chairperson of the company and the sole beneficiary of Surinder Kapur's estate, MoneyControl quoted the letter as saying. "For my client, as a mother, it's deeply painful to watch this being dismissed as a mere freak accident and cardiac arrest. The truth doesn't match the headlines," PTI quoted her legal counsel, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, as saying. "She would not stay silent until that truth is acknowledged," he added. Also, Rani alleged that she was coerced into signing certain documents under distress after her son's death. Though sha has is not presently pursuing legal proceedings, she has sought a deferment of the proposed AGM and reserves all her rights, her counsel said. Earlier on 12 June, Sunjay Kapur reportedly died after suffering a heart attack while playing polo in London. His final rites were performed at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in South Delhi on 19 June. The late Chairman of Sona Comstar married Karisma Kapoor in 2003 and are parents to their daughter, Samaira, in 2005 and their son, Kiaan, in 2011. Sanjay and Karishma's divorce was finalised in 2016. Sanjay later married Priya Sachdev and they have a son Azarias.
