The first weekend of Coachella made all of our sapphic dreams come true, with queer women taking over the iconic music festival.
After last year when Reneé Rapp was introduced by the cast of The L Word and performed with her girlfriend Towa Bird in front of a giant pair of scissors, we didn't think Coachella could get any more lesbian coded, but then we saw Weekend One's performances.
Billie Eilish was a surprise guest star during Charlie XCX's set, Lady Gaga gagged everyone with her performance and epic costume changes, plus Maren Morris, Clairo, Hope Tala, South African DJ Desiree, Underscores, Beabadobee, Amyl & The Sniffers, and Coco & Breezy all performed too.
But there were a few moments from this past weekend that were so queer they deserved a standing ovation.for Coachella
First up is the moment that is breaking sapphic online, everywhere. Megan thee Stallion and Victoria Monét's hopped on stage together for the hottest performance of the festival and the year — and maybe even the decade.for Coachella
The two performed a wicked hot rendition of their hit song 'Spin' ....for Coachella
And then brought the house down with the anthem 'On My Mama.' Yes, mama! We may never recover.

During nonbinary Venezuelan musician Arca's bold performance, bisexual Dominican rapper Tokishcha joined her on stage and the two looked into each other's eye like they're in love.for Coachella

We can't get enough of their longing glances at each other throughout the set.

We can't get enough of their on-stage chemistry!for Coachella
Both lead singer Leandra Earl and guitarist Jordan Miller for The Beaches are queer, but it's Earl's hot masc energy on stage that turned our heads.for Coachella
The combo of leather pants, Doc Martens, slicked back hair, and visible tattoos are doing something for us. Plus, she clearly knows how to stroke those chords…

If you weren't already in love with this butch singer, peep her in a black bikini top, abs for days, and boxers peeking out above the low-slung baggy shorts. We're fans!

As if that wasn't enough sapphic domination, they were joined on stage by nonbinary singer G-Flip for "Last Girls at the Party."

After last year's years scissoring reference, it was hard to picture what stage prop could rival that level of sapphic-ness, but bisexual Japanese Breakfast front woman Michelle Zauner dancing inside of a giant clam is just about the most lesbian thing ever.

Zauner also looked effortless cool in her exaggerated white button down, beaded crown, and sexy black boots.for Coachella
We stan a bisexual queen who lead a band and play an guitar like that!

Travis Scott Outsells The Next Two Bestselling Albums In America Combined

JackBoys 2 opens atop multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales, as ... More Travis Scott beats Ateez and Twice by a wide margin. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 12: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (EXCLUSIVE ACCESS) Travis Scott performs at the Coachella Stage during the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Empire Polo Club on April 12, 2025 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Most rap musicians rely on hefty streaming sums to conquer the Billboard charts, either with exciting new songs or full-length projects. Hip-hop dominates as the biggest genre in America, easily taking the lead on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, where users gravitate toward the style in huge numbers. A handful of artists in the competitive space have developed fan bases that are eager to purchase new music, not just stream it, and Travis Scott is leading that charge, especially when it comes to albums. The rap powerhouse's new full-length JackBoys 2, which credits him both as a solo act and as a member of the group JackBoys, conquers several Billboard charts this week, thanks largely to an impressive opening sales sum. JackBoys 2 Opens at No. 1 JackBoys 2 — the sequel to the simply-titled JackBoys, which arrived several years ago — opens at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Album Sales chart. Luminate reports that the full-length shifted 232,000 equivalent units in its first tracking period, with more than 160,000 of those being actual purchases. Both sums easily prove to be enough to send Scott and his fellow musicians to the summit of two of the most important album rankings in the United States, as when it comes to pure sales, nobody could compete. Ateez Misses Returning to No. 1 This week, the second-bestselling album in the U.S. is Golden Hour: Part 3 by K-pop boy band Ateez. That project rockets up the Top Album Sales tally from No. 12 to No. 2 thanks to 70,200 copies sold. That's less than half of what JackBoys 2 managed during a truncated tracking week, as the set didn't arrive on Friday as is typical, but later in the weekend. Travis Scott Beats Ateez and Twice Scott and company outsell the next two bestselling projects in America this week with no real competition for the top spot on the Top Album Sales list. Coming in just behind Golden Hour: Part 3 is Twice's This Is For, which starts with 67,800 copies sold. JackBoys 2 outsold both Ateez and Twice with tens of thousands of copies to spare. Travis Scott Also Dominates the Genre Charts JackBoys 2 also manages to dominate both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts as it arrives. The set doesn't quite make it to the summit on the Vinyl Albums or Top Streaming Albums tallies, instead entering those lists at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

Achieve Maximum Bougieness With Caviar-Bumped Limited-Edition Dishes at Outside Lands

is the associate editor for the Northern California and Pacific Northwest region writing about restaurant and bar trends, coffee and cafes, and pop-ups. San Francisco's Outside Lands music festival is not quite at Coachella seen-and-be-seen level, but it's damn near. From Friday, August 8, to Sunday, August 10, the extravaganza in Golden Gate Park will host full stack coders spending their final paychecks before agentic AI takes their jobs and would-be Beat poets brazenly blasting through the paychecks they don't have (read: their parents' credit cards) alike. It's the food and drink that attracts some to Outside Lands. Wisely so, as the festival just announced this year's 10 limited-edition items. Caviar rules the day. The dishes are all from local players and all are over-the-top indulgences. There are only a finite amount served each day, and attendees are encouraged to show up early to try them out. There are up to 30 of some of the items, while there are just 10 or 15 of others, making this a Northern California shiny Charizard-of-the-food-game situation — extremely rare, and sought-after. This year, there are super wild bites from 10 Bay Area players, ranging from Gumbo Social to Pedro's in Los Gatos. My Friend Fernando's Wagyu and caviar-riddled tostada. My Friend Fernando The real magic here is in the details. Caviar-topped Korean corn dogs from Michelin Guide-recommended for instance, and beef tartare tostadas from pop-up phenom My Friend Fernando, edible flowers littering the plate. Caviar here and caviar there on Mamahuhu's General Roe's fries with mushroom seaweed garlic seasoning, ginger scallion creme fraiche, and, yes, Siberian caviar. The Mission shows up large with Piglet & Co.'s caviar-topped wings and Pink Onion Pizza's mushroom and shaved-truffle pizza. The festival's food managers Taste of the Bay Area curated this hit list, like they put together the entire festival's food and beverage options. One does not need to pay extra to access these items; the Bites of the Bay program from 2024 is not back in 2025. For those who can't make Outside Lands this year, there's plenty of good food by the park. You can stream the festivities through Amazon and Twitch, if that's your thing. Here's the full list of participating restaurants and limited-edition items: • Gumbo Social's Cajun bayou shrimp burger, 20 available per day • Johnny Doughnuts' Dubai dream bar, 15 available per day • Mamahuha's General Roe's caviar fries, 20 available per day • My Friend Fernando's wagyu beef tartare tostada, 10 available per day • Pedro's wagyu quesabirria crunch wrap, 30 available per day • Piglet & Co.'s wings and caviar, 30 available per day • Pink Onion Pizza's truffle magic pizza slices, 30 available per day • Provecho's sashimi tostada, 20 available per day • lobster tail Korean corn dogs, 10 available per day • Woodhouse Fish Co.'s lobster roll cones, 30 available per day Outside Lands 2025 is Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10, at Golden Gate Park. For the entire food lineup, head to Pedro's crunch wraps are not to be slept on. Celebrate 15 years of Mzansi Magic

On 12 July 2010, a bold new voice emerged on South African television - one that spoke our language, reflected our lives and told Mzansi-born and bred stories in a refreshing way. That voice was Mzansi Magic. What began as a modest programming block of local series and international films has grown into a powerhouse producer and showcase of homegrown content. Over the years, Mzansi Magic has delivered award-winning shows and films, created unprecedented opportunities for local talent and played a pivotal role in shaping the South African production industry. At its inception, the channel set out to 'engage producers and explore possibilities beyond traditional commissioning models'. That vision has been realised - and gone beyond what what MultiChoice expected at its inception. Mzansi Magic's stories, stars and shows have influenced language, fashion and culture, while setting new benchmarks for local storytelling. From the beloved Lokshin Bioskop films to genre-defining dramas and reality shows, the channel has become a cultural cornerstone for Southern Africa. Mzansi Magic has brought us unforgettable moments: the gripping drama of iNkaba (2012), the iconic Isibaya (2013), the boundary-pushing Rockville (2013), the reality sensation Date My Family (2017), and the groundbreaking Lockdown (2017). These titles didn't just entertain - they sparked conversations, launched careers and redefined what local television could be. The channel has also nurtured new talent through initiatives like the MultiChoice Talent Factory, where graduates have gone on to contribute to some of Mzansi Magic's most beloved productions. 'For 15 years, Mzansi Magic has stood at the heart of South African entertainment — a platform where authenticity meets ambition, and where themes of family, resilience and identity are brought to life through bold storytelling and unforgettable characters,' says Nomsa Philiso, CEO of General Entertainment. 'What sets Mzansi Magic apart is not just the stories we tell, but the scale at which we tell them and the diversity they celebrate.' As part of the celebration, viewers can look forward to a curated showcase of iconic moments, unforgettable characters and fan-favourite genres - a journey through the stories that shaped a generation. A special commemorative documentary will also spotlight the channel's legacy, the talent it has nurtured and the cultural impact it continues to make. This celebration comes to life through the Mzansi Magic Pop-Up Channel - a special, limited-time experience on DStv Channel 196 - created to honour 15 years of storytelling excellence and the audiences who made it all possible. 'Mzansi Magic has always been about stories that reflect who we are… real, raw and proudly South African,' says Shirley Adonisi, Channel Director for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net. 'This celebration is our way of saying 'Siyabonga Mzansi' for 15 unforgettable years. Our channel was raised by the audience and we're grateful for their commitment.' And the journey continues... With fresh content like the upcoming original crime drama Levels, starring Lunathi Mampofu and Bonko Khoza, premiering on 7 September, Mzansi Magic is just getting started. So whether you've been there since the very first 'Yoh!' or joined along the way - this is your moment to relive the magic, remember the icons and look forward to the next chapter.
