Woman Wonders If She's a 'Bad' Mom for Not Bringing Her Son to Soccer Practice That Interferes with Her Schedule
The mother said her ex, who is the one that signed their son up for the sport, isn't helping A woman is wondering if she is a "bad" mom because of her inability to bring her young son to his soccer practice that falls on her busiest day of the week. In a post on the U.K.-based forum Mumsnet, the mother explained that she and her ex-partner share three children — including a son who is "a really good" athlete. According to the woman, her ex signed their son up for the sport, but he hasn't been proactive in bringing the child to the trainings himself, instead handing over the responsibility. The mother, who detailed her family has "a busy schedule" due to work and her other kids similarly being involved in athletics, also has a baby with another man, who she said "works away," leaving her "home all weekdays alone." "I'm so proud of [my son], BUT it now turns out that training is the one day in the week I have the three children (we share half-and-half), so I'm expected to take a baby [and] a 6-year-old to training every week that's half [an] hour away," the woman wrote in her post. Further explaining that she has "no family to help," but her ex-partner "has lots" to offer assistance, the mother added that the soccer games "are at least 4 to 5 hours away." She said "the cost" is another factor that makes being a sports mom difficult for her. "I just can't afford to do this, as I'll have to stay in hotels, etc. ... [and] I'll probably have to take the baby sometimes," the woman wrote. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! The mother then said that she knows making these sacrifices is "in the interest" of her son, but she "can't logically see how I can do it." "But I feel like [my son] will make out I'm a bad mother if I don't," she continued, adding: "I'm just exhausted with all the other games and things they play every week as it is." In the comments section of the post, many other Mumset users sided with the woman, believing that her ex should play a more active role in their son's soccer habits — especially since he was the one to get the child involved with the sport in the first place. "He signed him up, he makes it happen. Just lean back and don't try to make this happen, it's too much for you. You don't need to fix this," one user wrote. Another said, "Ex signed your son up to an activity without asking you for help in managing the activity on the one day ex knows ex can not take him? That's an ex problem, not your problem." is now available in the Apple App Store! Download it now for the most binge-worthy celeb content, exclusive video clips, astrology updates and more! Others, meanwhile, asked the woman if there was any way to find a middle ground between herself and her ex-partner, so they could share the responsibilities and let their son continue taking part in the sport. "Can you not flex the arrangements a bit, so your ex takes him?" one commenter asked, as another posed, "Can ex's family take him and you swap days so he has custody that day?" Manchester United complete £65m signing of Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United have bought Bryan Mbeumo for an initial £65m to take Ruben Amorim's summer spending on attackers past £120m. The Cameroon international, whose fee could rise to £71m if add-ons are triggered, has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford, while United have the option to extend it for a further season. Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last season, joins the £62.5m signing Matheus Cunha in Amorim's new-look attack as United have secured their top targets in each position. The 25-year-old was also wanted by Newcastle and Tottenham but never budged from a preference to go to Old Trafford and he revealed he was a boyhood fan of United. He said: said: 'As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up. 'My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players. 'Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.' United had two previous offers for Mbeumo rejected as Brentford held out for a higher amount and the London club received a club-record fee when the Europa League finalists returned with a third offer last week. Mbeumo is now set to join United on their pre-season tour of the United States and has become Amorim's third signing of the close season, after Cunha and the teenage Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland scored more Premier League goals than Mbeumo last season while over the last three years, he ranks seventh for goal contributions and director of football Jason Wilcox said the forward's end product had impressed United. He explained: 'Bryan's goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons. 'Bryan's belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing. 'We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour. The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new team-mates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.'

Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli & nine players Arsenal should consider selling after £200m summer spending spree
Arsenal are going big this summer in what feels like a crucial juncture in their ongoing pursuit of ending their 21-year Premier League title drought. The Gunners have been spending freely, strengthening across the board, but attentions must now turn to outgoings. After a protracted transfer saga, long-term target Viktor Gyokeres is set to become their latest big-money new arrival, following the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke through the door at the Emirates Stadium and taking the north Londoners' summer outlay to around £200 million ($269m). Meanwhile, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey - who has been charged with rape and sexual assault - have all left the club without generating any income. Head coach Mikel Arteta will know there is plenty more blubber to be trimmed and money to be made as he attempts to mould a potentially title-winning squad... Kai Havertz Do Arsenal need to ask themselves a serious question about Havertz?! Gyokeres' long-awaited, imminent arrival throws the German attacker's involvement into serious doubt, after he emerged as Arteta's main No.9 last season. Nine goals in 23 appearances before a hamstring injury effectively curtailed his season was not a bad return, but the decision has clearly been made that he is not the prolific striker Arsenal need to carry them forward, while the No.10 role and the wings are occupied. It might be time to cash in... Gabriel Jesus It's a great shame, but it's probably time to face up to the fact that Jesus' much-heralded move to Arsenal in 2022 has been completely derailed by fitness issues, with the forward currently sidelined by a second serious knee injury since his arrival, with those bookending a number of other niggles. He still faces a number of months on the treatment table as he continues to recover from a dreaded cruciate ligament tear, but it would be little surprise if the Gunners were weighing up cutting their losses behind the scenes. Finding a buyer is another question. Jakub Kiwior Strangely, Kiwior's place in Arteta's plans has rarely seemed secure since he signed for the north Londoners in January 2023, although he really stepped up in the run-in in 2024-25 amid a raft of defensive injuries. However, that spell only seems to have put him in the shop window. With Riccardo Calafiori now back in action and Gabriel Magalhaes nearing a return, Arsenal have also completed the signing of highly-rated Spanish centre-back Cristhian Mosquera - all of which pushes Kiwior right down the pecking order. Unsurprisingly, it's been reported that he wants out. Albert Lokonga One player who is pretty much guaranteed to be on his way this summer, forgotten man Lokonga is back at Arsenal having done his reputation no harm with a decent loan spell at Sevilla, albeit disrupted by injuries. Now 25, the midfielder has surprisingly been included on the Arsenal's pre-season tour to Asia, but with just one year to run on his contract the club will be determined to find him a new, permanent home this summer. The player says he needs "stability". Gabriel Martinelli A divisive figure among the Arsenal fanbase, there is some uncertainty surrounding Martinelli's future amid the flurry of transfer activity at the Emirates, with Madueke signed seemingly to play off the left flank that the Brazilian currently occupies. The 24-year-old has plateaued somewhat across the last two seasons, with his lack of end product becoming a point of contention. His sale would represent significant profit after Arsenal paid just £6m after unearthing him at Ituano in his homeland. Reiss Nelson There seems to be a hesitance to permanently let go of Hale End graduate Nelson, who is back at Arsenal after an injury-curtailed loan spell at Fulham last season, where he had initially impressed. However, while he has travelled on the Gunners' pre-season tour and even featured in the friendly win over AC Milan, the new arrivals in attacking areas surely mean his time at his boyhood club is drawing to an end. Fulham are apparently interested in bringing him back. Leandro Trossard Trossard has been a very useful tool for Arsenal since arriving from Brighton in January 2023, despite never being a guaranteed starter. Last season, he stepped up in Havertz's absence in the second half of the campaign, finishing strongly with six goal involvements in eight games to end the league campaign. However, given the attacking signings the Gunners have made or are about to make, with both the left wing and striker positions being reinforced, it's hard to see where he will fit. At 30 years old and with just one year to run on his contract, this is probably the opportune moment to cash in amid links to Fenerbahce and Bayern Munich. Fabio Vieira A notable absentee from Arsenal's pre-season tour to Singapore and Hong Kong, although that is mainly the result of his involvement in the Club World Cup with loan club Porto. Nevertheless, it would be a surprise to see him return at this stage. The Portuguese attacking midfielder is certain to feature near the top of the list of players Arteta and Co. will want to move on this summer after an indifferent spell back with his former side. He's already been linked with newly-promoted Serie A side Parma. Oleksandr Zinchenko Zinchenko was supposed to be a transformative signing for Arsenal, and while he has helped to push them closer to ending their Premier League title drought, there is a sense they have never quite got the best out of him. Niggling injuries have put him on the back foot, and some will argue that the versatile Ukrainian should have been utilised in midfield more, where he is a classy operator. The 28-year-old's limited minutes in the second half of 2024-25 - even when fit - suggest his days at the Emirates are numbered, with one year left on his contract.
