Bears CB Jaylon Johnson indicates he's seeking another contract extension
Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson has established himself as one of the best in the NFL, which earned him a contract extension last offseason. But with cornerbacks resetting the market, including most recently with Sauce Gardner's deal, Johnson is eager to open up negotiations about another extension. Johnson inked a four-year, $110 million contract extension back in March 2024, which continues to be one of the most affordable in the league given the talent and contributions from Johnson at a premier position. During a recent appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show," Johnson indicated he wants to discuss another extension as cornerbacks continue to rack up big pay days. "Just seeing a lot of the other corners getting paid — I almost feel like we might have another discussion coming up here soon," Johnson said. "The market is moving, the market is moving. As long as I just keep being myself, keep playing at a high level, definitely going to have to be some more conversations coming up soon and really keep it long term. So, I'm looking forward to that." It certainly feels like the Bears are getting a steal with Johnson at $19 million per year, and there's no doubt that he deserves to be paid like a top cornerback. But Johnson just signed an extension last offseason, so this feels more like it's a discussion to happen next offseason. Despite Chicago's disappointing and frustrating 2024 season, Johnson remained one of the league's best cornerbacks with three takeaways (two interceptions, one forced fumble), eight pass breakups and recorded a career-high in tackles (53) and tackles for loss (7) in 17 games while earning his second straight Pro Bowl nod. Johnson was placed on the Non-Football Injury list to start training camp, and it's unclear whether he'll be cleared in time for the Bears' first practice on Wednesday. But there's little doubt that he'll once again serve as a cornerstone in new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's defense. Angel Reese Unveils New Sneaker For WNBA All-Star Game
Angel Reese Unveils New Sneaker For WNBA All-Star Game originally appeared on The Spun. Angel Reese is using her detractors to her benefit with the latest colorway of her upcoming signature shoe. This weekend the Chicago Sky forward revealed the second of two designs for the Reebok Angel Reese 1 just before the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. This one featuring various shades of pink will be called "Mebounds" — a negative Angel has spun into a positive over the past few months. Fans reacted to the new silhouette on X: "Literally MINE. Not yours (yet) 😉" Reese winked. "Copyrighted a NBA twitter joke and profited off them losers," a user said. "These are actually really good," a fan replied. "Just got a paper accepted on how Angel Reese uses hip hop lyrics, semiotics, and cultural (coded) language to 'clap back' to naysayers — the media roll out of her latest shoe aligns with my findings," an assistant professor shared. "She's operating on a different level than her haters," another person pointed out. "Best sig in the WNBA this year ‼️" another user exclaimed. "The fact she took a means of trolling her and turned it into a business deal potentially worth millions tells you she's playing 4D chess," Erik Lambert commented. "I hate (sports sense) Angel Reese. Hate her. That's how much it pains me to admit how brilliant it was for her team to trademark Mebounds and make it her thing," Dave Portnoy posted. "Brilliant. I hate how brilliant it is." Reebok is attempting to revive its popularity by getting behind one of the biggest names in women's basketball and building its brand around her — and so far it appears to be paying dividends (at least culturally). An official release date has yet to be announced for the "Mebounds" or previously teased "Diamond Dust" shoes, but the company has hinted that they'll be available Reese Unveils New Sneaker For WNBA All-Star Game first appeared on The Spun on Jul 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 19, 2025, where it first appeared.
