Time of India10-06-2025
Patna: In a chilling repeat of violence, two youths were found shot dead in Patna district on Tuesday morning, marking the second double murder in the city within 24 hours. The incident has heightened fears and raised serious concerns about law enforcement in the state capital.
The bullet-ridden bodies of the victims were found by villagers along the Majahuli-Singhada road under the jurisdiction of Bikram police station. The villagers, who were out tending to their farmland, immediately informed the local police, who rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
Police recovered 13 spent cartridges, clothing and a motorcycle from the spot. The victims were identified as Sonu Kumar and Raushan Kumar, both residents of the same locality under Bikram police station.
"Prima facie, it appears both were shot dead. We are investigating the case from all angles," said Patna SSP Awakash Kumar. He added that one of the victims, Sonu Kumar, was allegedly involved in the 2023 murder of a local chowkidar (village watchman). "We are probing whether the killings are connected to that incident," the SSP said, adding that the background of the second victim is also being examined.
Paliganj SDPO Umeshwar Choudhary said police were conducting raids to arrest the absconding suspects.

Search operation in Poonch: Arms, explosives recovered; Indian Army's Romeo Force and J&K Police's joint operation

A joint search operation by the Indian Army's Romeo Force and the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) reportedly led to a recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the area. The operation is underway in the dense forests of Khanater Top in Poonch district, despite persistent heavy rainfall and challenging terrain. Authorities are yet to release more details. In a separate development in north Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday seized properties linked to a Pakistan-based Kashmiri militant handler in Kupwara's Sogam area. The crackdown targeted Ghulam Rasool Shah, also known as Rafia Rasool Shah, a top commander affiliated with banned terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JUM). Rasool, the son of Abdul Jabbar Shahr, originally from Peer Mohalla, Chandigam in Lolab, is said to be operating from across the border and has been actively facilitating terror activities in the region. As part of the legal proceedings, authorities have attached five kanals and three marlas of land owned by the accused in Peer Mohalla Chandigam under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The action is linked to FIR No. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giá vàng đang tăng mạnh trong năm 2025 — Các nhà giao dịch thông minh đã tham gia IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo 276/2022, registered at Kupwara Police Station, which includes charges under IPC sections 120B, 121A, 122, 123 and UAPA sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39, and 40. The move forms part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting the logistical, financial, and operational networks of terrorist groups and their cross-border handlers. The property attachment sends a clear message to those involved in or supporting anti-national activities, whether in India or abroad, that such actions will face serious consequences. Meanwhile, on July 6, another joint operation by the Poonch Police SOG and the Army's Romeo Force led to the busting of a terrorist hideout in the Marha area near Behram Gala. Acting on intelligence inputs, forces recovered three hand grenades, live ammunition, wire cutters, power cables, a knife, and other materials believed to be linked to militant activity.

(Photo: NZ Herald) An Indian-origin engineer, Shyamal Sushil Shah, a former Auckland Council employee, has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison for over $1 million fraud from the public sector, New Zealand Herald reported. Shah pleaded guilty at the Auckland District Court and his plea for bail and home detention has been denied. Shah used to work as a water network engineer at Watercare and carried out the massive fraud over a 17-month period. He came up with a scheme of generating fake invoices under bogus names and payments to those were credited directly to Shah's personal account. Some 40 fake invoices for fake entities like "Gardener Construction", "Ben Gardener" were produced, resulting in about $1039146 deposited into his account. Watercare manages the Auckland region's drinking water and wastewater services. Shah was arrested in November 2023 which was supposed to be his final week at Watercare as he was already planning to relocate to Australia. Shah proposed to return the money he siphones using his KiwiSaver, a loan from his new employer, and financial help from his parents. 'I imagine, as any parent would be, they're horrified and distressed," Judge Kate Davenport commented, noting the parents' gesture. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo According to the NZ Herald report, Shah's scam began as he got addicted to gambling that began as the SkyCity Casino. Bengaluru man arrested for posting non-consensual videos of women on Instagram

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly filming and uploading voyeuristic videos of women without their consent, reported TOI. The arrest came days after a graduate student's viral Instagram video flagged the account and described her own experience of being recorded without permission. As per the report, the accused, Gurdeep Singh, is a hotel management graduate currently unemployed and living with his brother in a rented apartment in KR Puram. He was taken into custody by Banashankari police on Wednesday, nearly a month after they began tracking his online activity. TOI citing a senior police officer said that the city's social media monitoring wing had flagged an Instagram account that appeared to be uploading videos of women in public spaces, filmed without their knowledge. The videos were described as voyeuristic and sexually suggestive in nature. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Join new Free to Play WWII MMO War Thunder War Thunder Play Now Undo The police registered a suo motu case on June 12, based on a complaint by Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Hosur. Gurdeep was booked under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (stalking) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. A technical team was tasked with tracking down his IP address and identity. The account came under widespread scrutiny after a student from a private college posted a video on Instagram detailing her own experience. 'Recently, there was a video of me shot in public on Church Street. It was shot very inappropriately and then posted online without my consent. I tried contacting the person behind the account, and there was no response,' she said. Live Events She added that her efforts to report the content had failed. 'I tried reporting from multiple accounts. But apparently, it says that it follows community guidelines. I don't even know the community guidelines for Instagram at this point. The reels have been viewed by the minute, and people are finding my account. I have been getting vulgar messages, to say the least.' Calling out the account's rising popularity, reportedly with over 10,000 followers, she said, 'There are a lot of women like me who have been posted from that account... To see that this is becoming normal on social media, we need to speak up. We need to do the right things because while we are out there fighting for languages, I think there are more serious concerns to be addressed. I am tagging Bengaluru City police and cyber crime to help me take that account down, and I really hope you guys do as well because numbers speak.' Police said they took serious note of the complaint and escalated the matter. PSI Hosur's complaint also noted that the force had been monitoring content deemed derogatory or inflammatory, especially targeting political parties, caste or religion, on social media. 'On the evening of June 12, we found the Instagram account operated by Gurdeep,' said a senior officer. While the police have not revealed the account's handle to prevent further circulation of the videos, they confirmed that around 45 reels had been uploaded. Many of these, they said, showed women filmed in slow motion to attract more views. 'We are working on getting a court order to ensure the account is deleted or deactivated by Instagram,' the officer added. With inputs from TOI
