Wuthering Waves Version 2.5 will shake the roster as one of the most enigmatic villains in the game, Phrolova, becomes playable. On July 24, 2025, this version will mark a key milestone in the game's Septimont storyline and promise some exciting gameplay changes.
From Foe to Ally: The Historic Crossover
Phrolova is no mere new addition; she is long-time in charge of the terrifying Fractsidus Group and one of the first antagonists from the enemy faction to cross over to the player side. Her crossover signifies a narrative change to Wuthering Waves wherein an increasingly-and-complex-dichotomization-avenue between good and evil will open. In her full-fledged playable incarnation, she will be a prominent presence in the unfolding Septimont story.

Master of Havoc: Skills and Playstyle
Phrolova was made for people who like to throw off explosions with precision. She primarily uses Echoes: this mechanic charges a special Forte Gauge that, after charging, allows the summoning of unique Echoes for coordinated attacks. With six charges, players release coordinated Echo attacks and reap damage benefits.
Teammate Synergy: Building Around Phrolova
Phrolova's potential is fully realized if paired with Echo-reliant patrons or Havoc-based characters. The top synergy picks include:
Cantarella
: The healer for Havoc and Echo expander; in other words: The best support to bring out the full potential in Phrolova.
Roccia
: Crowd control and
Havoc DPS
buffs to ease execution for Phrolova.
Camellya
: Burst Havoc DPS that fits in Phrolova's cooldown rotations to unlink tag-team damage.
Together, those raise a backbone for a high-performing Echo-centric team.

One extremely tantalizing detail about which nothing can be confirmed is Phrolova's so-called Dark Higanbana, which is mentioned in some leaks but was nowhere to be seen in any recent gameplay footage. Will this mysterious alternate form bleed into the final release? Only a question of time.
As July 24 closes in, Wuthering Waves players are counting down to welcoming Phrolova, not just as a powerful ally but one of the hallmarks of the game's growth and ambition.

Table for whom? Dining with strangers is Gen Z's latest social trend

Imagine this: You walk into a restaurant alone, unsure of what the night will bring. No one knows you, there's no group chat to fall back on, and yet — you leave with a full stomach and a few new friends. That's the vibe of India's newest social trend: community dinners with complete strangers. Dining with strangers is the latest Gen Z's social trend(Photo: Shutterstock) This slightly chaotic, very wholesome concept is catching on from Delhi to Mumbai and beyond. And no, it's not speed dating or networking — it's just about sharing a meal with people you don't know yet. An anti-dating app scene In a world of swiping fatigue and dry group chats, this idea hits different. And platforms like StepOut and Bunchh are making it happen. These apps and websites group strangers together — usually six to eight people — and send them out to curated dinners, where food is the only common ground (at least to start with). 'It was born from something we all feel — the need for real connection,' says Sumati Jalan, co-founder of StepOut, which currently operates in Delhi, Gurugram, Pune, and Bengaluru. 'A lot of us move to new cities chasing careers, ambitions, or simply a better life. But in that rush, we lose something essential: people.' StepOut sorts users into tables based on a personality quiz that dives into social energy, interests, and even fun psych prompts. 'We curate small group dinners where you can meet like-minded strangers in handpicked restaurants,' she adds. They host weekly Saturday dinners and tickets are priced at ₹599 (or monthly memberships), with guests paying separately for their food. No awkward splitting the bill — restaurants are told to give individual checks. Mix-and-match tables In Mumbai, Bunchh is doing something similar, with a vibe that's part slumber party, part adulting milestone. Their ₹749 ticket includes 'Table Talk' cards to kickstart the convo (because icebreakers are hard, okay?). 'We look at age, gender, personality types... and try to create a group that feels balanced,' says co-founder Shivangi Adani. 'There are questions like your vibe when you enter a room full of strangers and what kind of conversations you enjoy more.' Their sessions have seen repeat users. 'Some came alone the first time and now bring friends or attend every alternate session,' she says. Does it really work? Digital creator Utsavi Zatakia, 28, says it was way more fun than she expected. 'I had never done anything like this before, so being a part of it was an amazing experience for me,' she says. 'I also ended up making friends whom I speak to on Instagram.' Meanwhile, 25-year-old Delhi-based health counsellor Aarushi Kanozia says, 'I was confused at first, but the people were jolly and cheerful.' She's stayed in touch with one of them since. 'I would love to do this again and get to meet new people.' What about safety? Of course, the question of safety arises, especially when the whole idea involves meeting and eating with strangers. Digital creator Utsavi Zatakia admits she was a little worried at first, but the organisers quickly put her at ease, informing her about the thoroughly scanned forms and background checks. Sumati Jalan from StepOut calls safety a non-negotiable: 'These events are held in public restaurants with restaurant staff on-site and a feedback loop after each dinner. We get people to sign up with verified phone numbers. Restaurants are selected based on three safety criteria: it has to be on the main road; it's not a standalone property but in a larger complex with other restaurants in it; and it has easy parking and cab availability.' Pearl Brahmbhatt, co-founder of Bunchh, agrees: 'Being women ourselves, safety is a big one for us. We vet every sign-up before confirming — not just through form answers, but also a quick sense-check for red flags. We don't allow applications that don't share their social profiles.'

‘Someone remarked I looked like a buffalo': How this former Mrs India finalist lost 30kg weight and rebuilt her relationship with food after a serious injury

Hong Kong-based stand-up comedian Maitreyi Karanth, who is also a former Mrs India finalist, has inspired many with her dramatic weight loss transformation in just a year. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, this journey started two decades ago. While playing squash with a friend, Karanth ran to get a shot and slammed into a wall, experiencing severe bleeding and bruising deep in her chest muscles. The injury took months to heal and dramatically affected her mobility. A physically active person, she turned to food for comfort and ended up gaining 25kg. 'I still felt very pretty and continued to post pictures of myself on social media without feeling like I needed to hide any part of my body,' said Karanth, now 52. But as she returned to activities like squash and hiking, she noticed the toll the extra weight was taking. 'I realised how heavy I'd become.' Over the years, she endured painful comments: 'I really admire you — if I were you, I would not even go out,' someone told her. 'Another friend asked to look at my meal, because she wanted to know what I was eating 'to look like this'. And someone else remarked that I looked like a buffalo,' she recalled. But instead of retreating, she used these moments to reflect. 'I'd heard about intermittent fasting, and opted to eat just one meal a day. Initially, my daily meal wasn't particularly healthy, but as the extra weight came off, I felt a greater desire to prepare healthier meals. A typical meal consisted of a small amount of rice, some protein, like a hard-boiled egg, plenty of vegetables, some fruit and a bite-sized treat,' she told SCMP. After she began adjusting to her new eating routine and started to lose weight, she got back to enjoying her favourite physical activities. Within a year of following a one-meal-a-day plan and giving up alcohol completely, Karanth shed 30kg, bringing her weight down to 62kg. However, this came with its challenges and led her to switch to a more sustainable diet plan. 'It was hard not being able to snack between lunch and dinner, and I struggled with introducing alcohol back into my weekends without going overboard. I realised that I didn't have a good relationship with food. I was afraid to eat, and when I did eat, I didn't know my limits.' She added, 'I gained 7kg during this time, but then I went back to eating one meal a day and lost the extra weight in two months. Since then, I've tried to develop a healthier relationship with food. Now, I eat two meals a day and allow myself to have a little bit of everything,' she revealed. A post shared by Maitreyi Karanth (@maitreyi_karanth) Ashlesha Joshi, senior nutritionist at Tone 30 Pilates, tells 'Eating just one meal a day, also known as OMAD, can lead to short-term weight loss for some individuals due to a significant calorie deficit. However, for women over 50, it may not be the most sustainable or supportive approach for long-term health. At this stage of life, hormonal changes can impact metabolism, bone density, and muscle mass. Relying on just one meal a day might result in inadequate intake of essential nutrients like protein, calcium, and fiber, which are crucial during and after menopause. Instead of extreme restriction, a more balanced approach that includes small, nutrient-dense meals across the day tends to be more effective in the long run. ' 'This type of emotional relationship with food is more common than we often realise, especially among individuals who have been through years of dieting or societal pressure around body image,' says Joshi. To break this cycle, she suggests that it is essential to first rebuild trust with food. Practicing mindful eating is a powerful strategy. Working with a trained nutritionist or therapist can help unpack the emotional triggers behind food choices. It is also important to move away from labelling foods as good or bad, and instead focus on nourishment, satisfaction, and body awareness.
