Alabama's interstate lane closures to be removed for 4th of July holiday weekend
With the expected increased traffic flow, the removal of the temporary lane closures hopes to better protect drivers, and construction and maintenance crews.
ALDOT offered tips to address safer driving:
Eliminate distractions: Keep your focus on the road by avoiding distractions such as texting, scrolling or talking on the phone. ALDOT reminds motorists that Alabama has a hands-free law. This law prohibits drivers from holding electronic devices while operating a vehicle.
Buckle up: Seat belts remain the most effective protection against serious injury in a crash. Always ensure everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seat belt properly.
Avoid impaired driving. Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that impairs your ability to react. Staying sober behind the wheel protects you and everyone on the road.
Slow down. Speeding increases risks of serious injury or death and makes sudden hazards harder to avoid. Watch posted speed limits and adjust for traffic, weather and road conditions.

Pro MotoAmerica Racer Ella Dreher Knows Exactly What She Wants: To Win
Ella Dreher, teen motorcycle racer, showing off her formidable skills on the track. Ella Dreher, 15, is a typical teen in many ways. She goes to high school near Cocoa Beach, Florida, where she lives. She thinks about her future and her goals without fear. And she has her driving permit. However, there is one way that Dreher is much different from her peers: she's a rising young motorcycle rider working to break barriers as the only female competing in MotoAmerica's new Talent Cup. This teen motorcycle racer is hurtling at speeds topping 150 miles per hour on the track, trying to make history in North America's premier road racing series. Dreher has her sights set on the bright lights of MotoGP in the future. For now, she's acutely focused on the Talent Cup, a groundbreaking championship for young racers in North America to get ready for the global stage. Ella Dreher gets ready for her next race. Chasing The Dream In March, Dreher debuted at the Red Bull MotoGP of The Americas, at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. In this setting, the teen racer got to pit her skills against other elite competitors and show off her talent. At the end of the season, five standout riders from the MotoAmerica Talent Cup will earn an invitation to the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. Largely considered a launchpad for the sport's next global stars, this Red Bull event would propel Dreher toward the champion status she seeks. 'It's always been a dream,' Dreher says. 'I've been dreaming about going pro since I was little.' In fact, Dreher was only seven years old when she started riding. The only girl in a family with three brothers, Dreher learned how to be assertive not just on the bike but in life. Melissa Paris and Ella Dreher discuss equipment and strategy at a recent race. Working With Mentor Melissa Paris In her quest to reach the global stage, she enlisted the help of former pro racer Melissa Paris, the owner of MP13 Racing. Paris is mentoring Dreher along the way, both setting an example as a woman in motorsports and teaching Dreher everything she needs to know about competing. 'I got into racing like later in life, and I don't have near the talent that Ella has,' Paris says. 'I'm aware enough to realize that I did get almost unfair level of support just because I was unique in the series, and I made a promise to myself that when it was time to stop racing and I would pay that forward and help create opportunity for others.' Dreher was only 11 or 12 when Paris first spotted her and picked up on the then-preteen's skills immediately. Paris got to know Dreher's family and followed her trajectory as the teen made her way. 'To see a 15-year-old with that kind of race intelligence is impressive,' Paris says. 'You either have it or you don't. You can't teach someone that.' The Commitment To Ride Dreher has her eyes on the prize and is open to wherever the racing universe takes her, depending on how her next few wins go. 'My best advice is to keep your focus on your goal," Dreher says. "You have to know where you want to end up.' Paris says one of her favorite things about Dreher is her enthusiasm and love for the sport. The teen is always ready to race and she is tenacious, flexible, and drama averse. All she wants to do is ride. 'The first time we tested [her current] bike, she sat on it and I said 'Hey, do you want me to move the handlebars? Do you want to move the levers or anything?'' Paris remembers. "And just said 'Nah, let's just go ride it." Ella Dreher is destined for champion status. Ella Dreher is a 15-year-old motorcycle racer.

Ohio eatery named one of the best hotel restaurants in America by OpenTable
An eatery in Ohio was named one of the 100 best hotel restaurants in America for 2025. OpenTable recently released its "Top Hotel Restaurants for 2025" list, and Il Venetian in Cleveland was named on the list by the online restaurant reservation platform. The "upscale, modern Italian restaurant" features handmade pastas, fresh fish and seafood, fine meats, and artisan pastries and gelato, according to OpenTable. Some of the dinner menu highlights include grilled octopus, grilled long bone veal chop, wagyu carpaccio and blueberry risotto. The restaurant also features artwork, chandeliers, sculptures and glasswork imported from Venice and other Italian cities. "Above all, we offer a commitment to make food with love and care like they do in Italy," Il Venetian says on its website. The restaurant on East St. Clair Avenue in downtown Cleveland was the only restaurant in Ohio to make OpenTable's list. No Pittsburgh-area restaurants were selected this year. Il Venetian is open Monday through Friday for lunch and Monday through Saturday for dinner. It has a 4.8-star rating on OpenTable with 1,074 reviews. OpenTable said it found the best hotel restaurants in America for 2025 with the help of Kayak, a travel services website. The list was determined after reviewing more than 10,000,000 reviews from verified OpenTable diners and "dining metrics" from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025. The metrics, OpenTable said, included the percentage of five-star reviews and diner ratings. "Trust us when we say these restaurants are worth the trip," OpenTable said of its list. Earlier this year, OpenTable released its "2025's Top 100 Brunch Restaurants" list, and Pier W in Cleveland was selected.

Tesla's Massive Elon Musk Problem Is Not Going Away
Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Photo by Patrick Pleul / POOL / AFP) (Photo by PATRICK PLEUL/POOL/AFP via Getty ... More Images) Tesla's reputation crisis is deepening, according to a new report from EV Intelligence that says Tesla now has the lowest net positive perception among all EV brands and the highest distrust score. In fact, 37% of consumers say their perception of Tesla has become more negative in the past 6 months, while only 9% say it has improved. 'Tesla registers the lowest net positive perception among all surveyed EV brands,' the report states. "Furthermore, it exhibits the highest total distrust (48%) and the lowest trust intensity score (-19) among all brands, indicating significant challenges in public trust and brand favorability." Robotaxi doesn't look like it's going to save Tesla any time soon, either. Just 3% of consumers have heard about Tesla's self-driving taxi in depth, and those that are told about it are generally less interested in using a Tesla robotaxi and less convinced of their safety. In fact, 53% of the 8,000 U.S. consumers surveyed say that robotaxis should be illegal, and 55% of them say Tesla's Full Self-Driving technology specifically should be illegal. Competitors like Toyota and Honda–not traditionally known as self-driving leaders or electric vehicle leaders–led consumer trust and appeal metrics for safety, brand perception, and family-friendliness, according to the report. Toyota has the highest net positive perception, closely followed by Honda. Toyota and Honda lead in EV brand perception, while Tesla is the lowest. Tesla's fall from grace can hardly be overstated. Tesla has been the primary innovator in electric vehicles globally, and as recently as March of 2025, 'consumer sentiment toward Tesla was overwhelmingly positive,' according to a brand activation company, Inspira. Now, Tesla is the most rejected EV brand in America for potential EV buyers, with 50% of consumers saying they'd never consider a Cybertruck, for example, and 32-33% saying they won't even consider other Tesla models such as the Model 3 or Model Y. Tesla's brand perception scores have hit rock bottom The only other all-American startup EV company on the list, Rivian, has good brand positivity scores among people who have heard about the brand. But it lacks brand awareness with 63% of people not having heard of Rivian. American brands near the top include Chevrolet, Ford, and Cadillac. Musk has stepped away from the U.S. government and DOGE, of course, and has criticized President Trump on his handling of the Epstein issue, for example. But it's possible that these steps won't bring back the more liberal or left-leaning segment of potential EV buyers, and will just annoy the more right-leaning or MAGA potential customer. Starting up a new political party, the America Party, probably won't help. Tesla stock has dipped as sales slump and investors have grown tired of his political activity.
