BREAKING NEWS Queensland baby is allegedly tortured and assaulted by 27-year-old man
Police began investigating after the boy was taken to Queensland Children's Hospital unresponsive on March 5.
Medical examinations revealed the baby had sustained extensive injuries consistent with 'prolonged and repeated physical abuse'.
As detectives investigated, the baby was removed from the care of a 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.
Following a months-long investigation, police have now charged the 27-year-old Forest Lake man with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of torture.
'This was a deeply confronting matter for Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives to undertake given it involved a vulnerable infant sustaining serious injuries,' Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Joshua Brewer said.
He was refused police bail to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Mr Wilkinson delivered a poignant message of hope by citing an often-quoted verse from Psalm 23:4 in the Bible, Nine News reported. 'Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,' he said. 'It's been a long journey, and we continue to lovingly support Ian, Simon and all the Wilkinson and Patterson family members through this difficult time. 'We appreciate all the care from our local communities, special support from individuals and from the Baptist Union of Victoria, and the churches and people from all over the world who have been praying for us.' Mr Wilkinson attended almost every day of Patterson's 10-week trial, where he gave powerful and compelling evidence. More details about his miraculous recovery could be revealed if he takes up an invitation to make a victim impact statement ahead of Patterson's pre-sentencing hearing later this year. A 12-person jury found Patterson guilty of three murders and one attempted murder at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court a fortnight ago following a week of deliberations. Patterson had invited the group to her home, where she served them individually wrapped beef Wellingtons containing lethal mushrooms. The killer initially feigned grief as the fatal lunch made headlines around Australia, and Victoria Police charged her over the deaths in November 2023. Patterson faces a maximum sentence of life behind bars.

School holiday horror as Year 12 boy is killed in a car crash near his family home
A boarder at a prestigious private school in Sydney 's west has tragically killed in a car crash. Stirling Heriot, 17, died in a car crash near his family's remote property in Quambone, 200km north of Dubbo in Central NSW, on Friday night. Witnesses phoned emergency services about 6.45pm to report a crash on Quambone Road and first responders found a teenager dead at the scene. 'Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and found a vehicle had left the roadway and rolled,' NSW Police said in a statement. The King's School in Parramatta spoke out about the tragedy on Sunday. 'Stirling was widely admired for his kindness, generosity and willingness to engage warmly with those around him,' the school said. 'A dedicated contributor to school life, he was a committed member of the 2nd IV in Rowing and had previously been involved in Rugby and Cadets.' The independent Anglican school applauded Stirling's dedication and pride in his country roots. 'His persistence and work ethic were evident in all he undertook, especially in Industrial Technology where he was proudly building a tandem-axle multipurpose farm trailer intended for use on the family property as his major project,' it said. The King's School added Stirling's passing would be 'deeply felt by his family, his friends and many others across the School who had the privilege of knowing and teaching him'. 'As we navigate this difficult time, our focus will be on supporting one another, especially our students,' it said. 'Please keep the Heriot family in your prayers during this profoundly painful time.' Hundreds of comments under the statement mourned the 'kind' and 'gentle' 17-year-old. Man brutally beaten up by friend, stripped naked and paraded through village while neighbours filmed him
A MAN has been jailed after brutally beating up a friend and parading him naked through the streets. Thug Karl Griffins, 42, received a huge sentence after the horrifying ordeal was caught on camera by neighbours. 3 3 Swansea Crown Court heard that Griffins spent much of the day and evening of January 30 at a friend's house in the Welsh village of Penclawdd. According to prosecutor Crag Jones, Griffins received a phone call and left the flat before returning and locking the door behind him. Then, he told everyone inside that they couldn't leave. Next, the court heard that he took the phones of his friend and his friend's partner and accused them of stealing from them though it was unclear whether he was accusing them of stealing money or drugs. Griffins refused to return the couple's phones and then beat the pair with his friend's girlfriend's crutches. The court heard that he punched his friend in the head, before demanding that he removed his clothes. Reportedly, Griffins told his friend that they were 'going for a walk' and 'paraded him naked around the streets'. Mobile phone footage of the victim near the Penclawdd CK store was recorded during the ordeal, before Griffins returned his friend to the flat. The 42-year-old smashed his friend's TV before calling the police and saying: 'Someone better come and get me, I'm going to kill someone.' Griffins was arrested and told authorities that he had gone to his friend's house after arguing with his mother. The 42-year-old was then slapped with a 31 month prison sentence, with half of his sentence to be served behind bars. His defence said that no disagreement between Griffins and his friend "could not remotely justify the level of humiliation and violence" caused by his client. He added that it was clear in the video footage that the victim was distressed as "he was marched through the centre of Penclawdd in a state of undress". Griffins' defence said that his client's actions could be explained through him being intoxicated and that he was now facing his addiction to controlled drugs. The 42-year-old has been granted enhanced-prisoner status at HMP Swansea and allegedly hopes that his former friend can forgive him in the future. Griffins has a history of criminal activity, including non-domestic burglaries, supplying Class A drugs and weapons offences. 3
