Musk suggests Tesla shareholders should vote on possible xAI investment

Tesla Inc. plans to poll shareholders on whether to invest in xAI, Elon Musk said after the Wall Street Journal reported SpaceX was prepared to funnel $2 billion into the Grok chatbot developer.
The billionaire entrepreneur, responding to a post on X, said any decision to back the startup ultimately wasn't his to make. Musk asked X users publicly last year if Tesla should invest $5 billion in xAI, writing at the time that he was just testing the waters. But he said then that the EV maker's board and backers would need to green-light such a decision.
It's not up to me. If it was up to me, Tesla would have invested in xAI long ago. We will have a shareholder vote on the matter.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 13, 2025
The potential investments emerged as the combined entity XAI Holdings engages in talks to raise money at a valuation of as much as $200 billion, Bloomberg News has reported. They suggest Tesla's billionaire chief executive officer is seeking to more closely entwine the various parts of his corporate empire.
This month, the CEO revealed Tesla will adopt Grok within vehicles — days after the bot posted antisemitic content on X. The integration suggests an expanded relationship between the two firms, something some Tesla investors have called for as EV sales have slumped.
Tesla disclosed in April that xAI was a customer last year, with the startup incurring $198.3 million of expenses tied to commercial, consulting and support agreements with the carmaker. The bulk of that business — $191 million — involved xAI purchasing Tesla's utility-scale energy storage batteries, called Megapack.

US Aviation Body Not Considering Contracts With Musk's SpaceX Starlink

The Federal Aviation Administration told lawmakers it is not considering replacing its current telecommunication contracts it holds with L3Harris or Verizon Communications with Elon Musk's SpaceX's Starlink satellite unit. "The FAA is not aware of any effort by SpaceX to assume the (telecommunications) contracts. Nor has FAA considered replacing the awardees of those contracts with SpaceX," said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford in a letter to lawmakers dated Tuesday reviewed by Reuters. "FAA would not use Starlink (or any satellite service) as the sole communications technology for safety-critical air traffic services."

Tesla's India Entry Set To Transform Domestic EV Landscape: Experts

New Delhi: The official launch of Tesla in India has created a buzz in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, with experts on Wednesday calling it a major turning point for the country's clean mobility future. Industry leaders believe Tesla's arrival will not only benefit consumers but also reshape the overall EV ecosystem in India. Nikhil Dhaka, an auto expert from Primus Partners, said Tesla's entry marks a significant moment in India's journey towards sustainable transportation. 'Tesla isn't just another carmaker entering the Indian market -- it brings global ambition, advanced technology and a promise to push innovation across the sector,' he told IANS. While Tesla's cars will likely be priced in the entry-level luxury segment, experts believe that many Indian buyers will still be drawn to the brand. 'Tesla has a strong brand appeal and tech advantage. Many buyers may stretch their budgets by 20 to 25 per cent just to own a Tesla,' Dhaka stated. The US EV giant has announced that it is now preparing to open a new showroom in Delhi. Along with this, the EV company announced that it will soon set up four new charging stations in New Delhi. These will include 16 Superchargers and 15 Destination Chargers for EV users, according to its official statement. Tesla on Tuesday launched its first 'Experience Centre' in Mumbai, where it also introduced its popular electric SUV, the Model Y, to Indian customers. In an official statement, the company said it plans to build a full EV ecosystem in India. This will include showrooms, service centres, delivery hubs, charging points, logistics facilities, and office spaces across the country. In Mumbai, Tesla has already announced four major charging stations in important locations like Lower Parel, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Navi Mumbai, and Thane.

Elon Musk's SpaceX offers this ‘BIG HELP' to rival Amazon's Kuiper internet satellites; company says ‘Pumped to have…'

Image credit: LinkedIn Elon Musk 's rocket company SpaceX has provided launch services for Amazon's Kuiper internet satellites. This marks a major collaboration between two rival companies in the satellite internet market, as SpaceX's Starlink currently holds a dominant position in the low-Earth orbit satellite internet sector. Amazon has confirmed that a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched 24 Kuiper satellites into space. The launch took place from Florida's Space Coast at 2:30 a.m. ET (12.00 am IST). Nearly an hour after liftoff, SpaceX confirmed that all Kuiper satellites were successfully deployed. The mission was also livestreamed on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter). It's important to note that Starlink operates a constellation of around 8,000 satellites and serves about 5 million customers globally. What Amazon said about the help from rival SpaceX Soon after the launch, Panos Panay, who oversees Amazon's devices and services unit, including Kuiper, thanked SpaceX for giving the satellites a lift into space. In a LinkedIn post, Panay wrote: 'Congrats to the amazing Amazon Project Kuiper team on another successful launch, and a big thanks to SpaceX for the ride to space. Pumped to have another batch of Kuiper satellites heading into orbit!' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo Launched in 2019, Amazon's Project Kuiper aims to deliver global broadband via a network of over 3,000 satellites. To meet the FCC's deadline, Amazon need to have about 1,600 satellites in orbit by July 2026. After three launches, which include one in July 2025, the company has 78 satellites in orbit and has secured up to 83 launches, including rides with SpaceX. Kuiper represents a growing rivalry between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Musk, who leads competing ventures Starlink and SpaceX. Bezos' Blue Origin also seeks to rival SpaceX with its New Glenn rocket. According to a report by CNBC, Amazon has committed over $10 billion to Kuiper, though analysts estimate the project could cost up to $23 billion, excluding user terminal expenses. Each launch reportedly costs Amazon $150 million, with satellite production projected to reach $1.1 billion by year-end. Targeting a market expected to hit $40 billion by 2030, Amazon could earn $7.1 billion in Kuiper revenue by 2032 with a 30% market share.
