I am happy that the entire nation thwarted this bid by staying united," the CM said.

PM Modi reaches UK; likely to seal FTA

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reached the UK with the formal signing of the landmark India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) expected to be the key outcome of his two-day trip. Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday. Starmer will host Modi at Chequers, the British prime minister's official country residence near London. Commerce minister Piyush Goyal is likely to sign the FTA alongside his UK counterpart Jonathan Reynolds after three years of intense negotiations. The UK views the deal as its biggest trade win since Brexit and hopes it will inject fresh momentum into research and technology partnerships with India. In 2023-24, bilateral trade between the two countries crossed $55 billion. The UK is India's sixth largest investor with $36 billion invested so far, while nearly 1,000 Indian companies in Britain employ around 1,00,000 people. Indian investments in the UK stand at close to $20 billion.

New warning for green card holders in US: Always carry THIS at all times with you, CBP reminds

CBP issued a reminder to Green Card holders asking them to always carry the document with them. The Customs and Border Police issued an important reminder the all green card holders that they have to carry at all times with them the proof of their alien registration as mandated by the law. "Failing to do so can lead to a misdemeanor and fines if you are stopped by federal law enforcement," the reminder issued Wednesday said. This is not a new law and non-citizens are required to carry proof of their legal status in the US always but the Trump administration's reminder shows that the crackdown on green card holders, lawful permanent residents, will continue and just because they are legally residing in the country, it does not mean they will not be punished. The State Department earlier made it clear that permanent residents can also be deported if they are found flouting laws. — CBP (@CBP) What are Alien Registration Documents ? Alien Registration Number (A-Number) This is a unique 7–9 digit number assigned to non-citizens by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This is used to track immigration records, applications, and status. This commonly starts with an 'A'. Green Card Officially known as Form I-551, this is issued to lawful permanent residents. The Donald Trump administration has broken the conception that Green Card holders can't be arrested and their citizenship can't be revoked. A Green Card includes a photo, the A-number, category of admission and expiry date. This is proof of the right to live and work in the US permanently. Employment Authorization Document Form I-7666 is also known as a work permit which is issued to non-citizens who are temporarily authorized to work. This contains the A number, photo and validity dates. Arrival-departure record I-94 documents a non-citizen's entry and authorized stay. This document includes the A-number for certain visa holders. This is issued at ports of entry or online for air travelers. Under US immigration law, most non-citizens over age 14 who stay in the U.S. for more than 30 days must carry their alien registration documentation at all times.

Trump warns of 'higher tariffs' if countries fail to open markets to US products

US President Donald Trump has once again warned that countries refusing to open their markets to American products will face even higher tariffs. On Wednesday, several nations, including South Korea, rushed to finalise trade agreements with the US before the August 1 negotiation a strongly worded post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated, "I WILL ONLY LOWER TARIFFS IF A COUNTRY AGREES TO OPEN ITS MARKET. IF NOT, MUCH HIGHER TARIFFS! Japan's Markets are now OPEN (for first time ever!). USA BUSINESSES WILL BOOM!"advertisementHis post came just a day after he announced a new trade deal with Japan, which includes a 15 percent "reciprocal" tariff on Japanese goods entering the United States. This new rate is 10 percentage points lower than what had previously been announced. According to Trump, Japan will invest USD 550 billion in the US, with 90% of the profits going to the United GREAT POWER OF TARIFFS: TRUMPTrump also defended his use of tariffs as a negotiation tool. In another post, he wrote: "Another great power of Tariffs. Without them, it would be impossible to get countries to OPEN UP!!! ALWAYS, ZERO TARIFFS TO AMERICA!!!" The president has been arguing that tariffs help create leverage in international trade talks, forcing other countries to remove trade barriers and give US businesses a fair shot in foreign markets. According to Trump, the goal is always to eliminate tariffs altogether—but only when other nations do the approach is putting pressure on countries like South Korea, which is working to avoid the harsh consequences of US tariffs. The Korean government is particularly concerned about proposed 25 percent reciprocal tariffs, as well as separate duties on steel, aluminium, and automobile exports. These sectors form the backbone of South Korea's economy, which heavily relies on House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt backed Trump's remarks during a press briefing. She said, "If not, they will continue to face tariffs and pay a steep price to do business in the United States of America, which remains the best market on the face of the planet."- EndsTune InMust Watch
