for international delegations formed to explain India's position on
, opposition leader VD Satheeshan said on Sunday that the opinion of the party's national leadership will also be the opinion of the state leadership in this matter.

Satheeshan told the media that the party's national leadership should speak about Tharoor. He said Tharoor is a CWC member and it is not the state unit's place to comment on him. He added that the Congress does not work in a way where the state controls the national party.
Senior Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan asked Tharoor to focus on his main duty as a Congress MP. He said Tharoor could take up international roles only with the Congress leadership's permission.
Speaking to a TV channel, he said Tharoor had two roles—one as an international figure with his own views and the other as a Congress MP.
He said Tharoor should act with the party's knowledge and approval. Tharoor can work in the international arena, but it should not weaken the party he represents. He added that Tharoor is not a leader of small stature.
Meanwhile,
's ally
said the Congress has already accepted Tharoor's inclusion in the delegation and called it an internal matter.
IUML state chief Sadikali Shihab Thangal said there was no need to bring politics into it. He said it was India's stand and all parties in the country should support it, which they are doing.
IUML national general secretary PK Kunhalikutty said the delegation was sent to explain the reasons behind India's strike against terrorism after Pahalgam attack and there is no need for any controversy.
Meanwhile, responding to former KPCC chief K Sudhakaran's remarks about the selection of a new president, Satheeshan said Sudhakaran was not unhappy.

He said the media keeps asking Sudhakaran questions every day and should stop following only the Congress. "You still haven't answered how many years Rajeev Chandrasekhar was in the BJP. Have you checked how he became an MP twice? He says he is a Malayali, but has he ever worked as a booth president here? Has he served on any committee before? What did he do for Kerala in his five years as a central minister? The media won't talk about that," he said.
He claimed the media is trying to belittle the appointment of someone with over 50 years of political experience as KPCC chief. "Congress will stay strong. You said it would explode like a bomb, but nothing happened," he added.

Mehbooba Mufti urges Rahul Gandhi to raise concerns about ‘victimisation of Muslims' in Parliament
Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to raise concerns about the 'victimisation, dispossession and disempowerment' of Muslims during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. Mufti said that Muslims in India had chosen to remain in the country after Partition because of their faith in the Congress leadership. 'Today, as the bearer of that legacy, the responsibility falls on your shoulders to uphold and defend the secular and democratic values enshrined in our Constitution,' she added. The Peoples Democratic Party leader said that the ongoing special intensive revision of voter rolls in Bihar appears to be another 'systemic effort to dispossess, disempower and ultimately disenfranchise Muslims, effectively erasing their presence'. As part of the revision of electoral rolls, persons whose names were not on the 2003 voter list will need to submit proof of eligibility to vote. Opposition leaders have alleged that the exercise risks disenfranchising a large number of voters as they may not be able to submit the necessary documents. Mufti also referred to reports of India having deported refugees by 'pushing' them into Bangladeshi waters, saying: 'Under the pretext of targeting 'Bangladeshis' and 'Rohingyas', Muslims are being pushed into increasingly desperate situations. Disturbing media reports have even suggested that some were forced into the sea in attempts to expel them from India.' The large scale demolition of thousands of Muslim homes in Assam is deeply troubling, Mufti added. Between 2016 and August 2024, more than 10,620 families – the majority of them Muslim – have been evicted from government land in Assam, according to data provided by the state revenue and disaster management department. Deeply disturbed by the ongoing victimization, dispossession and disempowerment of Muslims on a daily basis - I have written to Rahul Gandhi ji urging him to raise this critical issue in the upcoming Parliament session. — Mehbooba Mufti (@MehboobaMufti) July 21, 2025 Mufti said that while India rightly condemns the treatment of Hindu minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh, there is 'complete silence' when Muslims are targeted in India. 'As a politician from one of the only Muslim-majority regions that chose to join the Indian Union largely due to the vision and secular character of your great-grandfather, I feel extremely helpless at times,' she said. 'Placing great hope in your leadership, I urge you to continue speaking up for a minority that is being steadily marginalised and pushed to the fringes of Indian society.'

Epstein's ex-lawyer urges congress to grant pedo's partner Ghislaine Maxwell immunity in exchange for full testimony
Alan Dershowitz , the prominent attorney who once represented both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump , is urging Congress to grant Ghislaine Maxwell —Epstein's longtime associate and convicted sex trafficker—full immunity in exchange for her testimony before lawmakers. Dershowitz argues Maxwell "knows everything" about Epstein's criminal enterprise and calls her the "Rosetta Stone" of the case, claiming such testimony could finally unravel key details about the financier's activities and connections with powerful figures. Dershowitz made his appeal on national television over the weekend, telling Newsmax's Sunday Agenda, 'Ghislaine Maxwell is basically serving the sentence that Epstein would have gotten. She should never be in jail for 20 years. What should happen is, she should be free. She should have her sentence commuted. She should then be called in front of Congress. Have Congress give her total immunity, and then she can tell everything she knows. She would have no reason for withholding anything'. Prosecutors established that between 1994 and 2004, she recruited and groomed adolescent girls for Epstein, who then abused them at properties across the country. The case drew fresh public interest after the Department of Justice recently stated there is no so-called 'Epstein client list,' stirring debate about the full reach of Epstein's network and accountability for others who may have been involved. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Top 25 Most Beautiful Women In The World Articles Vally Undo Dershowitz and Maxwell's legal team maintain she has been unfairly singled out, arguing her conviction is more about the system's failure to prosecute Epstein than her own acts. David Oscar Markus, Maxwell's attorney, said, 'The government says there's no Epstein client list , yet Ghislaine Maxwell remains locked up as the scapegoat for ghosts. It's not right. We are hopeful that she gets some relief [via the Supreme Court] soon'. Calls for Maxwell's testimony before Congress have grown amid mounting demands for transparency in the Epstein case. Dershowitz claims that with 'use immunity,' Maxwell could not be criminally prosecuted for what she reveals, provided she tells the truth, and asserts she is 'willing to testify' under such a deal. Live Events Legal experts and some U.S. lawmakers, however, caution that granting such immunity would be controversial. Critics argue it risks absolving Maxwell of further accountability, while supporters, like Dershowitz, insist her full cooperation is essential for exposing the scope of Epstein's activities, especially as many records remain sealed by federal courts. According to journalist Tara Palmeri, Maxwell may already be assisting law enforcement behind the scenes and is unlikely to serve her full sentence. 'They can't let her out right now, there would be public outrage. But [when] nobody's paying attention, story's gone away, a few years, Ghislaine's out, or ends up in some nice prison. This is what I've been told by law enforcement sources,' Palmeri said. Epstein, who died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial, remains one of the most notorious figures in American criminal history. His case continues to raise questions about elite networks, abuse of power, and access to justice for survivors. Congressional leaders have not yet formally responded to Dershowitz's appeal, but with renewed public attention on Epstein's associates and their knowledge of his crimes, pressure is mounting for decisive action—whether that takes the form of hearings, new investigations, or potentially, bringing Maxwell to Capitol Hill under immunity.

‘There are far deeper reasons for his resignation': Jairam Ramesh questions Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation as vice-president
Hours after the Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar announced his resignation citing health concerns, the Congress said Tuesday morning that it is 'also a fact that there are far deeper reasons for his resignation'. Congress Rajya Sabha member and Communication in charge Jairam Ramesh said Dhankhar's resignation 'speaks highly of him'. 'It also speaks poorly of those who had got him elected as Vice President in the first instance,' said Ramesh in a post on X. Ramesh said at 12.30 pm Monday, Dhankhar chaired the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Rajya Sabha. 'It was attended by most members, including the Leader of the House, JP Nadda, and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju. After a brief discussion, it was decided that the committee's next meeting would be held again at 4:30 pm,' said Ramesh. The Congress leader said the committee members gathered again for the meeting under Dhankhar's chairmanship at 4.30 pm, and waited for Nadda and Rijiju, but they did not show up'. 'They never came. Shri Jagdeep Dhankar was not personally informed that the two senior Ministers were not attending. Rightly he took umbrage and rescheduled the BAC for today at 1 PM. So something very serious happened yesterday between 1 PM and 4:30 PM to account for the deliberate absence of Shri Nadda and Shri Rijiju from the second BAC yesterday,' he wrote in the post. Ramesh said that 'in a truly unprecedented move, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar has resigned'. 'He has given health reasons for doing so. Those should be respected. But it is also a fact that there are far deeper reasons for his resignation,' said the Congress MP. 'While always lauding post-2014 India, he spoke fearlessly for the welfare of farmers, forcefully against what he called 'ahankar' in public life, and strongly on judicial accountability and restraint. To the extent possible under the current G2 ruling regime, he tried to accommodate the Opposition. He was a stickler for norms, proprieties, and protocol, which he believed were being consistently disregarded in both his capacities'.
