Cobra Kai's arm-bitten Alicia Hannah-Kim speaks out on Martin Kove's fan convention incident

'Cobra Kai' star Alicia Hannah-Kim has addressed the recent incident involving her co-star Martin Kove, during which he allegedly bit her arm at a fan convention. In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, Hannah-Kim expressed gratitude for the support she received and condemned Kove's actions as unacceptable. 'This was a serious incident,' Hannah-Kim stated in the video. 'No one wants to be attacked at work or anywhere really. I don't think anybody would think this is normal or warranted or acceptable.' She emphasized the importance of standing up for oneself in such situations, adding that this isolated incident did not reflect her overall experience with the Cobra Kai team. 'I think everybody can tell it's a really good vibe and a great cast,' she said, urging fans not to let the incident affect their love for the show. The altercation occurred at Summer Con in Puyallup, Washington, on June 23. According to a police report obtained by Variety, Hannah-Kim approached Kove during a VIP meet-and-greet, tapping him on the shoulder to say hello. Kove then allegedly grabbed her arm and bit her 'so hard he nearly drew blood.' Although she declined to press charges, Hannah-Kim asked that a report be filed 'in case this continues.' Kove publicly apologized the following day, expressing regret for his actions. In a statement, Kove described his behavior as 'playful' but acknowledged that it went too far. 'There is absolutely no excuse for my behavior,' Kove said. 'I take full responsibility for what I did, and again I apologize to her and her husband.' Hannah-Kim portrayed Kim Da-Eun in Cobra Kai's fifth and sixth seasons, while Kove reprises his role as John Kreese in the Netflix series.

Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest share a love story in My Oxford Year trailer

Netflix has officially unveiled the trailer for My Oxford Year, a coming-of-age drama based on Julia Whelan's bestselling novel. The film, which will be available on the streaming platform starting August 1, stars Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest as the leads. Directed by Iain Morris, the movie tells the story of Anna (Carson), a determined American woman who travels to Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when she meets Jamie (Mylchreest), a charming and clever local who changes both their lives. The trailer depicts the blossoming attraction between Anna and Jamie, leading to a brief but intense romance. While they bond over their shared love of poetry, their relationship faces complications as their feelings deepen. In one pivotal moment, Jamie tells Anna, 'Don't waste the short time you have left in Oxford on me,' hinting at hidden struggles. Anna, however, suspects that Jamie is keeping something from her, leading to emotional tension. The film also features a talented supporting cast, including Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, and Harry Trevaldwyn. The screenplay is written by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne, with Carson serving as an executive producer alongside Caroline Levy and others. My Oxford Year is already generating comparisons to Prime Video's Maxton Hall, a popular teen romance series. The film promises to be a poignant exploration of love, ambition, and self-discovery.

All the updates about Netflix's 'Squid Game' US Spin-off after surprise celebrity cameo

After the explosive finale of Squid Game season three, Netflix has confirmed plans for a US-based spin-off. The original show ended with a dramatic sacrifice by Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), setting the stage for a broader global expansion. The final episode included a twist revealing the games are going worldwide, with the Front Man spotting a game of ddakji being played in Los Angeles. The game, first introduced by the salesman (Gong Yoo), was a key plot point in recruiting players. This time, the salesman is portrayed by two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, adding fuel to speculation about her involvement in the upcoming Squid Game spin-off. Blanchett's appearance hints at more significant roles in the US version. The spin-off will be helmed by director David Fincher, known for Mindhunter and Gone Girl, and it is expected to expand on the Squid Game universe, rather than remaking the original. According to a report by Deadline in October 2024, the series will be set in the USA, though no specific title or plot details have been released yet. The scripts will be penned by Dennis Kelly, the creator of the UK's Utopia, and filming is expected to start in December 2025. While the cast has yet to be confirmed, Blanchett's connection to Fincher raises the possibility of her return for the spin-off. While Netflix has not officially commented on the series, more updates are eagerly awaited by fans.
