13MP success hinges on coordination of all ministries, says PM
PETALING JAYA : The success of implementing the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) depends on proper coordination and preparedness of every government ministry or agency, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said they must move together as one team to meet future demands, Bernama reported.
'The 13MP was drafted following continuous discussions among ministries, central agencies and state governments over the past few months,' said Anwar, who chaired a special Cabinet meeting to review the framework and key initiatives of the 13MP today.
He said the 13MP would shape the direction of the country's development for the next five years.
It is scheduled to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat at the end of next month.
During the meeting, Anwar gave space to all ministers and senior ministry officers to contribute ideas on implementing the plan.
'The 13MP is a continuation of the reforms driven by the Madani government over the past two years.
'It is based on our aspirations to restructure the economic framework, elevate the status, dignity and well-being of the people, and build a more just, sustainable and resilient nation,' he said.

It's SWCorp's numbers, not mine, says Nga on rubbish left by July 26 rally
KUALA LUMPUR: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has defended his statement that 20 metric tonnes of rubbish were left behind following the 'Turun Anwar' rally. Nga said the figures were based on findings by the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp), whose personnel were mobilised on the ground. 'The numbers did not come from me, but from SWCorp. Hundreds of workers were mobilised to clear the rubbish after the rally,' he told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (July 28). Nga added that he did not deny the efforts of *Unit Amal* members who also helped with the cleanup. 'I appreciate their help and thank them. But I also cannot deny that 20 metric tonnes of rubbish were left behind across Sogo, Dataran Merdeka, and even Petaling Street.' He was responding to a supplementary question from Datuk Awang Hashim (PN–Pendang), who disputed the figures and asked the minister to clarify. 'It's not true. We checked everything,' said the Opposition MP. Nga had previously shared the cleanup figures in a post on X (formerly Twitter), which drew criticism from some quarters. Rebutting Awang's remarks, Nga reiterated that the numbers came directly from SWCorp and were not fabricated. 'Even their chief executive officer was on the ground working late into the night,' he said, while stressing the ministry's firm stance against littering. Infineon investment lifts Malaysia as chip hub, creates 1,500 jobs
KUALA LUMPUR: Infineon Technologies' mega investment has not only positioned Malaysia as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub but will also generate 1,500 high-income jobs for Malaysians, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced Infineon's RM30 billion potential investment during a trade and investment mission to Germany, following a meeting with the company's top management. "That potential has now become a reality. Infineon Technologies, the German semiconductor giant, has commenced an additional RM30 billion investment to build the world's largest 200mm Silicon Carbide (SiC) Power Fab at the Kulim Hi-Tech Industrial Park in Kedah. "The first phase of the plant has not only been completed, it is already operational. The launch of this facility reflects the state government's recognition of the federal government's efforts in attracting further investment to Kedah," he said in a post on X. He added that Infineon's commitment also extends to supporting local small and medium enterprises through its local vendor development programme, launched on Jan 15, 2025, which has benefited 139 local companies. "This is a highly significant investment and a clear sign of Infineon's confidence in Malaysia. From potential, we have made it a reality," added Tengku Zafrul.
