Looks like she will handle the step up to 1600m. GREY SECRET (6) has place claims on her third to Celtic Sin at Hawkesbury.

Was good winning her recent Canterbury trial by nearly four lengths. KOWLOON VICTOR (3) came from last when fourth at Kembla on debut then led when second to Golden Straand at Gosford.

CITY GOLD FIELD (1) had to be steadied when disappointed for a run at the 250m and got clear at the 150m when fourth at Gosford two starts ago. Battled away for third to Signor Tortoni at Gosford last start. SUPER ECLIPSE (9) battled when sixth on debut over 1250m at Canterbury on Jan 31 and was better second-up when fourth to Automne Tree over 1550m two weeks later. SASS (6) was a nice third to Tequisoda in her June 23 Canterbury trial.

AGED CARE (3) pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia when ninth to Shropshire Lad at Scone first-up. Trialled well and bounced back with a win at Port Macquarie. Was a head second to Miss Spacegirl then beaten less than a length at her next two at Kembla and Newcastle. POCKET EIGHTS (9) continues to race well into a long campaign won't be far away again.

SAPLING (9) resumed with a fourth to Gilette over 1100m at Canterbury on May 28. Was a month between runs and stepped up to 1350m here where she led before being caught on the line by Champagne Hero. Can go one better. COOL DRINKS (2) is a first starter by Cool Aza Beel and a half-brother to Group 1 winner Shout The Bar. Has trialled well including a close second to Melanite in his Canterbury trial. BELLEVUE (1) is a debutant by Bivouac. Trialling well.

MERCY ME (11) is a debutant by Hellbent. Made steady ground under a hold when second in her Beaumont trial. Led and responded when shaken up to win her Wyong trial from Raging Force. SEVEN DAYS (12) started at $31 on debut but ran a very encouraging fourth to Just Awesome beaten less than a length over 1100m at Gosford on June 19. Will take improvement from the experience. JUSTICE WARRIOR (2) deserves a win after placing in eight of his 11 starts.

COOL LAD (7) is knocking on the door after placing in three of his four runs this campaign and wasn't far away in the other. Runner-up to French Marine at Newcastle then second to Diddle Dumpling here last start. O'INVINCIBLE (5) won both runs on her first campaign including one here over 1000m. Disappointed when sixth to Livin' Thing first-up on the Kensington but has trialled well since and can bounce back. FLYING RANI (8) has been kept fresh since her two length seventh to Are Ee Que at Kembla on May 31. Led and raced away to a four length win on her June 23 Canterbury trial.

Australia's Jordan Thompson reaches Wimbledon's last 16 for first time in career
Jordan Thompson's run at Wimbledon has continued with the wounded warrior storming into the fourth round of his favourite event for the first time in his career. Still harbouring a debilitating back injury that had him protesting after his two previous courageous five-set wins that even "snails move faster", Thompson looked in much better nick when he showed he had too much grass-court nous for Italian Luciano Darderi in their third-round clash, prevailing 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. It booked the battling Thompson his first last-16 appearance at Wimbledon in his ninth attempt and only the second fourth-round date of his grand slam career, matching his US Open performance of last year and 2020. He is the first Australian to reach the fourth round at the grass-court slam this year, with both Alex de Minaur and Daria Kasatkina having the chance to join him when they play on Saturday night (AEST). In the amphitheatre of Court 18, the 31-year-old also managed to bypass the sort of nerve-shredding drama of his previous two matches, which he won in five-set slogs, this time nipping Darderi's attempted comeback in the bud after the Italian had taken the third set. That raised the prospect that marathon man Thompson might be dragged into a seventh career five-setter at Wimbledon — he has won five and lost just one — only for him to reassert his quality against the 23-year-old Darderi, whose two wins at Wimbledon this year doubled his career tally of grass-court victories. He will be relieved to have won in seven minutes under three hours to avoid any more pressure on his back, especially with a daunting last-16 outing awaiting against in-form fifth seed Taylor Fritz, who defeated Spain's 26th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1. Earlier, Rinky Hijikata's daydream of pulling off the greatest of Wimbledon escapes against American big-hitter Ben Shelton lasted less than a minute when the pair resumed their controversially suspended late-evening match. Hijikata had got the unexpected chance to live to fight another day after saving three match points and then being reprieved by a controversial postponement of play amid farcical scenes as darkness descended. Meet some of Australian netball's brightest stars: From TikTok viral goals to Olympic dreams at the NSW Swifts
The NSW Swifts know how to produce stars. It's the former club of netball greats Liz Ellis and Catherine Cox. Now, 30-year-old shooter Helen Housby, who originally hails from the UK before calling Sydney home and helping them win two premierships, is their latest star. She's gone viral for both her goals and also TikTok dances during matches. 'I get recognised a lot more than I used to,' she says. 'But I think it's good for the game. If you look at the best sports in the world, they have people that fans want to engage with and want to look up to, and I think netball, because it's such a great team sport, has sometimes shied away from promoting individuals. 'But I feel a responsibility to promote the game because I love it.' Wing defence Sharni Lambden joined the Swifts this season and pinches herself daily that she's part of a team that has played in more grand finals, and won more titles, than any other in the game. Especially considering it took her 10 years in the pathways program to even get her start. 'What motivates me is that little girl that absolutely fell in love with netball when she first started playing at eight,' she says. 'It's been a big journey and she never would have thought she'll be here. She was such a shy, young little girl and now I'm here. I'm trying to really soak it all in.' While Netball is currently the only team sport to compete at the reduced Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year. And there is a huge push for it to be included in the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane because if breakdancing can make it to Paris, why can't a sport which is played in 120 countries around the world be included. For Housby, it's something she wants to be part of. 'I will be 37 then so I'm not sure if I will have the legs in me. I might have to retire for a good couple of years and then get to CrossFit or something to try and stay fit,' she laughs. 'But if it did come to Brisbane in 2032, that would definitely be something that I would look towards.' Housby's new teammate Verity Simmons adds that for the sport to be taken seriously as an Olympic sport, America needs to get involved; 'You look at how they work in the States and how they blow up their athletes'. 'I would love to see netball get in there and I think that would be what blows the sport up. 'You know everything's bigger in America, right?' The game isn't far off that. In June, the Women's Sport Network founded by Whoopi Goldberg, signed a three-year deal with Suncorp Super Netball which will see the competition beamed into 65 countries around the world with a reach of 900 million. Testament to growing support for the game, this year the Grand Final will be played at Rod Laver Arena for the first time ever. Simmons, a 34-year-old centre and wing attack has a unique view on the game. The Diamonds player hung up her bib in 2023 and picked up a pair of footy boots, joining the AFLW and the West Coast Eagles for a season, before returning to the Swifts this year. When it comes to 'professionalism and how clean and tidy we keep the sport,' Simmons believes netballers are the best. 'I love being back around the netball environment. I love the community. I love the fans that we have. 'We have incredibly loyal fans that literally love this sport and are so happy to give so much time and love and energy to it and volunteer. I feel very fortunate to be back involved in a club like this.' There is no doubt the sport has come a long way in the past five years when it comes to sponsorship opportunities, pay increases for players (in 2023, after a civil war between administration and players, both parties agreed to an 11 per cent pay increase) and engagement for fans (Swifts games now regularly sell out.) However for Simmons, it was her time away from the sport that highlighted just how far they'd come. 'I used to think why has it taken so long? We're the most highly participated sport in Australia for women. 'It's been frustrating at times, but, I think stepping away from it and being in the football environment and still watching the sport grow and develop I was like, Wow, this really is something special,' she says. Ultimately, all three enjoyed their exclusive shoot for Stellar. 'I've never done anything like it. It was a really cool experience and I didn't know what I was in for but I'm always up for anything,' says Lambden. Adds Housby, 'when I first joined the Swifts or even when I debuted for England it was much, much harder to be seen on TV or to be in magazines. 'The coverage was just completely different. The payment was completely different but because I've benefited from the rise in netball, I do feel a responsibility to continue that and to champion it. Blair Kinghorn set to make his British and Irish Lions debut against NSW Waratahs
Preparing for their third match in Australia, the British and Irish Lions will unleash a Scot who could hold the key to success against the Wallabies. Blair Kinghorn suits up at left wing for the Lions tonight in Sydney against the NSW Waratahs, ready to make his mark on the tour. The Scottish star arrived in Australia on Tuesday, less than 48 hours after helping his French club Toulouse win the Top 14 final. ABC Sport will have live blog coverage of the British and Irish Lions' tour of Australia this July and August. Kinghorn played all 100 minutes of the final in Paris, which went to extra time as Toulouse triumphed 39-33 over Union Bordeaux Bègles. Now he plays his first match for the Lions, and he has the opportunity to play more. With 60 Tests for Scotland under his belt, Kinghorn is well equipped for high-pressure moments in rugby. But it is his experience at Toulouse that could force him into the starting team for the first Test against the Wallabies on July 19. Toulouse have been crowned champions of France for the past three seasons, and five of the past six. The team boasts some of the finest players in world rugby. Even Kinghorn, who has cemented himself as Scotland's Test fullback, plays on the wing as the number 15 jumper is often filled by Frenchman Thomas Ramos. "At Toulouse, the squad is so deep and so talented that you've got to be on top of your game," Kinghorn said earlier this week. "You've got to come into training every day and try hard and work hard. "Coaches are on your back the whole time, which is great. "It's high pressure, but it kind of makes you thrive, having great players around you." In a Lions squad, no player is there to make up the numbers. On merit alone, all 38 squad members could be part of the 23-man team for the first Test. The competition for your spot in the Test team makes tour matches, like tonight's match against the Waratahs, vital for any Lion. It is their chance to impress coach Andy Farrell and the rest of the coaching staff. "Everyone's here to do their best and to win the Test series and have a successful tour," Kinghorn said. "So every training session is going to be competitive. Everyone's motivated. "That's what you want, that brings the best out of people." Listed at 193cm tall and 105kg, in any other era Kinghorn would be a prized backrow forward. But his speed, ball handling and natural rugby instincts make him one of the finest attacking weapons in the world. Even better for Farrell, Kinghorn can play fullback, fly-half and on both wings. This versatility makes Kinghorn a prized asset in the squad, especially in the wake of Elliot Daly's tour-ending injury against the Queensland Reds on Wednesday. Not only can Kinghorn play in multiple positions, the Scot says he doesn't care what number he has on his back. "Anywhere on the park is fine," he told media after being asked what his preferred position is. "Internationally, I've played the majority of my rugby at fullback, so I still say that's probably my best position." On Saturday, Kinghorn will line up on the left wing, with Irishman Hugo Keenan wearing the number 15. Keenan was supposed to be the Lions' starting fullback against the Reds, but pulled out due to illness. Daly moved into the starting side, but fractured his left arm while attempting to tackle Queensland captain Joc Campbell in the second half.
