Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz confirmed for US Open mixed doubles event
Raducanu and Alcaraz are one of six teams who have received wild cards so far and two further wild cards are set to be announced at a later date to take the overall number of teams competing to 16.

Eight of the total 16 pairs have received direct entry into the draw, including Emma Navarro and Jannik Sinner along with Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud.
Britain's Jack Draper is also in the main draw, paired with Paula Badosa and US duo Jessica Pegula and Tommy Paul will play together in front of their home crowd.
Other notable wild cards include Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic, while two-time grand slam mixed doubles champion Venus Williams will compete with Reilly Opelka.
Current US Open mixed doubles champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have also received wild cards.

Emma Raducanu made the most of her downtime before heading to the US Open by relaxing and soaking up the sun on an impromptu holiday. The British No 1 took to social media to share a series of photos of her short trip to Martha's Vineyard, an island in Massachusetts and a popular tourist destination. Raducanu will not return to the court until the Cincinnati Open begins later this week and she was therefore able to jet out to the haven with a group of friends. She shared several holiday snaps of the trip on Instagram, accompanied by a lighthearted caption which read: 'Ted's on the vineyard - heard it here first. Spontaneous 36h New England summer fun time w [with] friends in MA.' Martha's Vineyard sits just south of Cape Cod in the Atlantic and is famed for its picturesque harbour towns, lighthouses, sandy beaches and farmland. However, there was no sign of Carlos Alcaraz, Raducanu's close friend and doubles partner at the US Open after they were confirmed as wild card entries. Currently ranked No 33 in the world, the Brit was last in action on August 2 when she lost out to world No 7 Amanda Anisimova in the third round in Montreal. Shortly after the defeat, it was confirmed that she had hired Rafael Nadal's former coach, Francisco Roig - the eighth trainer of her burgeoning career. Roig, 57, was in the box for all 22 of Nadal's Grand Slam titles and is highly regarded. Raducanu had worked with old friend Mark Petchey since the Miami Open and vastly improved under his guidance, but the fact he had to split his time between coaching and his broadcast commitments meant the partnership would never be long-term. Petchey himself admitted in July: 'We are very aware she needs a second coach to come on board and maybe just one coach, not me, as well.' Talks with Roig began during Wimbledon, and a trial took place shortly after. Obligations meant he was not available until this week, and he landed in Cincinnati on Monday to help Raducanu prepare for the final WTA 1000 event before the US Open. She will look to earn the wins needed to ensure she is seeded at Flushing Meadows. Then, the US Open will get underway in New York on August 25. Raducanu's highly anticipated doubles partnership is set to take place on August 19 and 20. Alcaraz revealed he had approached Raducanu about teaming up through their agents, and she said yes after taking 'time to think a little bit'. 'I'm super excited about it. I think it's going to be great. It was an amazing idea for the tournament,' Alcaraz said after his opening win at Queen's.

Emma Raducanu has added Rafael Nadal's former coach Francisco Roig to her team on a full-time basis before this month's US Open, it is understood. The 2021 winner at Flushing Meadows has worked with British coach Mark Petchey on an informal basis since March and enjoyed a positive run of results. However, Petchey's TV commitments meant he was always unable to become Raducanu's full-time coach and after a trial with Roig following Wimbledon, the 22-year-old will begin work with him in Cincinnati this week. He has agreed a contract until the end of 2025. Raducanu has struggled to settle with a coach in recent years until her part-time work with Petchey started to pay dividends earlier this season. A WTA 1000 quarter-final showing at the Miami Open in March was followed by a last-16 run at the Italian Open before she made the last eight in the first women's tournament at Queen's Club. Aryna Sabalenka proved too strong for Raducanu in round three at Wimbledon, but this was backed up by a semi-final at the Citi Open as the British No 1 targets being seeded at the US Open later this month. Petchey, who worked with Andy Murray at the start of his career, revealed in July that Raducanu would need to find a full-time coach soon and she has found that in Roig. The Spanish coach worked with Nadal alongside Nadal's uncle Toni for most of the 22-time grand slam champion's career and more recently was part of Matteo Berrettini's backroom staff. Raducanu will stay close to Petchey but turns her focus back to rising up the WTA rankings with a strong display at the Cincinnati Open over the next fortnight. Novak Djokovic is set to enter the US Open without playing in any warm-up tournaments after he pulled out of the Cincinnati Open. Djokovic has not played since a comprehensive straight-sets loss to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon semi-finals on 11 July. The 24-time grand slam champion struggled with a left thigh injury during his one-sided defeat at the All England Club and after he missed the Toronto Masters, the Serbian will now sit out another ATP 1000 event in the shape of the Cincinnati Open. US sports lobby Home Office for travel exemption after golf caddie refused UK entry
Sports organisations in the US will press the Home Office to apply exemptions to new travel rules for American citizens entering the UK after the caddie of golfer Harris English missed out on around £130,000 by being denied access for the Scottish Open and Open Championship. The case of Eric Larson has alerted the likes of the NFL and NBA, which stage games in London, that sportspeople or staff can be prohibited from entering the UK under Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) rules if they have a criminal conviction. Larson was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 1995 for involvement in drug dealing and rebuilt his career as a caddie for several leading PGA Tour players after serving 10 years. Larson's past had largely been forgotten until the Scottish Open, when it was revealed any American citizen given a custodial sentence of at least 12 months will now be denied UK entry. ETA implementation started in January this year. Larson was refused travel despite lobbying to the Home Office from the PGA Tour and the R&A. English tied 22nd in Scotland and finished second in the Open. Caddies typically receive around 10% of their player's winnings; English earned more than £1.8m from his UK trip. As things stand, Larson will encounter the same situation in 2026. The American bodies will point to the fact Donald Trump's ban on citizens from a dozen countries entering the US – another seven have been served with restrictions – contains an exemption intended to apply to players, staff or associated families linked to the 2026 Fifa World Cup or the 2028 Olympics. No such leeway presently exists for the UK border. 'Sporting bodies are now asking the UK to apply sporting exemptions on this system,' confirmed a senior figure within US sport. The Home Office did not offer comment on whether it has already been asked to apply sporting exemptions on the ETA and what any response towards this might be. A source with knowledge of the Home Office position added: 'Each application for a decision outside the rules is considered on its merits but informed by previous examples and precedents.' The same source confirmed the 'mandatory and automatic refusal of entry clearance for individuals who have received a previous custodial sentence of at least 12 months'. The NFL will return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for matches on back-to-back weekends in October. The NBA announced last week that games will be staged in London in early 2026 and Manchester the following year.
