Arsenal sign Spanish keeper Kepa from Chelsea
Kepa, 30, joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for €71 million, but after winning the Europa League in 2019, the Champions League two years later, and the Club World Cup in 2022, the keeper has spent the last two seasons on loan.
Last season, Kepa was Bournemouth's regular goalkeeper in the Premier League and in the previous campaign he made 20 appearances for Real Madrid, helping the Spanish club win LaLiga and the Champions League.
Before joining Bournemouth last August, Kepa extended his Chelsea contract until 2026, and has signed a three-year deal with Arsenal, British media reports said, where he will wear the number 13 shirt and provide backup for David Raya. — REUTERS

SIXTH-SEEDED Madison Keys recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Olga Danilovic on Wednesday to advance to the third round at Wimbledon. The latter three players have been eliminated from the tournament. "Honestly, it's very sad to see so many top players losing in the first round, but you're better off focusing on yourself and staying away from the results," Sabalenka said in her on-court interview. She then lightened the mood with a joke. "I hope there are no more upsets in this tournament," the top-seeded player said. Sabalenka, who is bidding for her first Wimbledon title, will face the winner of Wednesday's match between 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova, a Czech, and local favorite Emma Raducanu. LONDON: Chelsea signed Brazil striker Joao Pedro from Brighton in a deal worth a reported £60 million (RM344 million) today. Pedro jetted to the United States, where Chelsea are playing in the Club World Cup, on Sunday after the terms of his eight-year contract were agreed. With the transfer now confirmed following a medical, Pedro is available to play for Enzo Maresca's side in their Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadelphia. Fifa has given clubs involved in the Club World Cup knockout phase until July 3 to register new players for the tournament. "Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history," Pedro said. "They had brilliant players in the past and have brilliant players now, so I am excited to join and you know when you are a Chelsea player you must think one thing - win."
