Air Force School, Subroto Park and Apex School have claimed the boys' titles in 2023 and 2024 respectively while Sanskriti School has maintained a dominant presence in the girls' division, winning both previous seasons.
Speaking at the event, co-founder Fareed Bakshi emphasised the tournament's larger mission. 'The Oriental Cup goes beyond just competition. It's about building a space where school athletes across Delhi can play, grow, and feel a sense of community through football. We're excited to welcome new teams and continue expanding the legacy we began just two years ago.'
Speaking at the press conference, Rizwan-ul-Haq, vice president, Delhi Soccer Association, shared his endorsement of the tournament's growing impact. 'The Delhi Soccer Association is delighted to acknowledge the initiative taken by Mr. Fareed Bakshi in launching this school-level football tournament three years ago. Since its inception, the tournament has shown remarkable growth each year and is making a significant contribution to the development of youth football in Delhi. Such initiatives offer young athletes a valuable platform to demonstrate their skills and potential,' he said.
The organizers invite students, coaches and football fans from across Delhi to follow the tournament, support their schools and be part of a growing movement aimed at nurturing football talent and fostering sportsmanship.

The Oriental Cup is an emerging school football tournament in Delhi, founded in 2023 by student-athletes Fareed Bakshi and Zahan Sawhney. Yorkshire sign Pakistan batter Ul-Haq for run-in
London, July 21 (UNI) Yorkshire have signed Pakistan batter Imam Ul-Haq as an overseas player for the remainder of the season. The 29-year-old comes replaces India's Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will not be joining Yorkshire for their final five County Championship fixtures. Gaikwad had agreed a deal which would begin from Tuesday's game against reigning champions Surrey at Scarborough but pulled out for personal reasons, and he will also be available for the One-Day Cup. Ul-Haq, who previously had a short-term spell with Somerset in 2022 when he played three County Championship games, will now go straight into Yorkshire's squad to face the Division One leaders. "We're delighted that Imam has joined us and that he will be available immediately," general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton said. "Whilst we were naturally disappointed that Ruturaj couldn't join up with the squad, in Imam we have an exceptional player of proven international quality. NEW DELHI: The third edition of the Oriental Cup, Delhi's emerging youth football tournament, is all set to kick off on Monday at the Dr Ambedkar Stadium. There are 36 participating teams, 24 in the boys' category and 12 in the girls'. This year's tournament promises an action-packed week of high-quality school football, spirited competition, and inclusive community engagement. The 2025 season will begin with seven matches featuring some of the city's most exciting young talent. In the opening fixtures, Government Co-ed Senior Secondary School, Dwarka will take on Mother's International School in the boys' category, followed by their respective girls' teams facing off. Next, Sanskriti International School will meet Amity International, Saket in the boys' match, followed by the defending champions in the girls' category, Sanskriti International School, going up against Amity International, Saket's girls' team. Later in the day, the boys' team from The Air Force School, Subroto Park, winners of the first edition, will face Kendriya Vidyalaya School (JNU), while their girls' team will play Amity International, Noida. The final fixture of the day will see Amity International, Noida take on Kendriya Vidyalaya, RK Puram in the boys' draw. All matches will be played at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, which will host the entire tournament through to the finals on July 29. The competition is structured with qualifier rounds, followed by league matches and culminating championship games for both boys and girls.
