Anti-dengue efforts reach over 42,000 homes
This was discussed in a key meeting held on Friday, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Abdullah Khan. The meeting was attended by the CEO of Health and other relevant stakeholders. During the meeting, it was reported that 13,087 outdoor locations had been inspected, and dengue larvae were found in 8 areas, where appropriate measures for larvae control were promptly implemented.
Additionally, a briefing was provided on the training efforts targeting teachers and students. A total of 134 schools were identified for training, with 81 schools already completing the program. The target was to train 10,720 students, and this goal is being met as planned. Likewise, training was completed in 26 out of 30 colleges, reaching 14,490 students.
It was also shared that the registration process for dengue prevention efforts is ongoing and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2025. The meeting further reviewed the efforts of both indoor and outdoor teams working in various union councils.
Addressing the meeting, ADC Abdullah Khan emphasized the need for stricter enforcement, directing that fines should be issued against those violating the SOPs. He also instructed that an FIR be filed under Section 188 in cases where larvae are discovered.
Additionally, he proposed that hotspot areas be logically divided to ensure that all departments share the workload.

Bharara appreciated the generosity of the business community and said that leading local philanthropists including Seth Iftikhar, Mian Javed Iqbal, Farrukh Zaman and Mian Sheroz in close collaboration with FCCI and administration have focused on this public welfare project which would be completed with the donations of the business community. He also thanked Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Azmat Mehmood, Special Secretary Health Tariq Rehmani, Divisional Commissioner Madam Maryum Khan and Deputy Commissioner Captain Retired Nadeem Nasir for their keen interest in this project. He said that it would not only facilitate the local heart patients but also cater to the immediate needs of the adjoining divisions. Safer, smarter healthcare services: Federal, Punjab Health ministries to launch joint initiatives
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Health Ministry and the Punjab Health department have decided to join hands for stronger, safer, and smarter healthcare services. The major development for national health collaboration came here on Thursday during a high-level meeting between Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal and Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the federal and provincial governments to address critical healthcare challenges and launch joint initiatives across key health areas. The meeting decided taking joint action against counterfeit medicines, coordinated efforts on polio eradication and dengue prevention and advancement of digital health systems and regulatory reform. The meeting was also attended by Special Secretary Health Syed Waqarul Hassan, Additional Secretary Health, Chief Information Officer of DRAP, Director General Health, and the President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC),Dr Rizwan Taj. Kamal reiterated the federal government's resolve to address healthcare issues with urgency. He stated that under the direction of the prime minister, particular focus is being placed on eliminating polio and ensuring timely implementation of health programmes. 'The fight against polio continues with full zeal, until the virus is eliminated, our children remain at risk,' he emphasised. He shared plans for a new national strategy for polio eradication and urged parents to disregard negative propaganda and ensure their children are vaccinated. 'In Palestine, even during war, mothers call for vaccinators with whistles. Pakistani mothers must also play their part in protecting their children,' he said. Kamal highlighted steps being taken by DRAP to combat counterfeit medicines, including the rollout of a modern barcode system. This will enable every medicine to carry a unique code that patients can scan to verify authenticity and price. Additionally, export certifications such as GMP, CoPP, and NOCs are now being processed online via the Pakistan Single Window, and all regulatory submissions are handled through the new 'e-App' online platform. Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir reaffirmed Punjab's full support for the federal government's health agenda. 'Punjab has greater capacity and resources, and we are ready to share these to benefit all provinces. The health of our people must come before all else,' he stated. He also praised DRAP's initiatives under the leadership of Minister Kamal, particularly, those targeting counterfeit pharmaceuticals. The two ministers agreed on the importance of coordinated measures to prevent dengue outbreaks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and committed to united efforts in disease prevention, vaccination campaigns, and health system strengthening. Static vaccination centre inaugurated
The Population Welfare Department secretary on Tuesday inaugurated a Static Vaccination Center at the Regional Training Institute (RTI) and Reproductive Health Center, Nawan Killi area of Quetta. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Abdullah Khan highlighted that under the Functional Integration Strategy, vaccination sites are being set up within Reproductive Health Centers and Family Welfare Centers. He said that these centers would offer integrated services, including primary healthcare (PHC) and nutrition, to provide complementary support for reproductive health and family planning. The event was also attended by Deputy District Health Officer (Preventive), Health Department Quetta.
