Application invited for Town Vending Committee in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) invited applications from eligible candidates to be appointed as members of the temporary Town Vending Committee. Those who engaged in street vending within the city limits for at least five years and are already members of an existing street vendors' association or federation in the city will be given reservation as follows—general-1, backward class-1, scheduled caste-1, scheduled tribe-1, minorities-2, women-3, and disabled-1.
Priority will be given to organisations working with street vendors, including women members established under the central govt's scheme and representatives of non-governmental organisations engaged in social service for at least five years.
Social workers or service providers within the Mangaluru city limits, trade union representatives, hotel owners' association representatives, and market or traders' association representatives can apply.
Interested parties within the city corporation limits should submit a self-written application by July 25 to the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) scheme community affairs officer at the MCC office or via email at commissioner.mcc@gmail.com, stated MCC commissioner Ravichandra Naik.
No service connections for illegal constructions
Before starting any type of building construction within the jurisdiction of MCC, it is mandatory to obtain a building construction license under the KMC Act.
After obtaining the building permit, the construction must be carried out according to the approved plan, and the building can only be used after obtaining an occupancy certificate, the commissioner stated.
As per the Supreme Court order, buildings without an occupancy certificate should not be provided with any service connections such as electricity, water supply, sewage connection, or trade license. Therefore, before constructing any building within the city corporation limits, it is mandatory to obtain a building permit and construct according to the approved plan.
"If not, no service connections will be provided, and action will be taken against unauthorised construction under the KMC Act," the commissioner warned.

Hyderabad, July 21 (UNI) Life Insurance Corporation of India on Monday said it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Department of Rural Development (DoRD), Ministry of Rural Development, to promote its Bima Sakhi Yojana in rural areas. The MoU was signed during the National Conclave on Financial Inclusion – 'Anubhuti' – organized by the Ministry from July 8 to 10, 2025 at Goa, the insurance company said in a release. LIC's Bima Sakhi Yojana is exclusively designed to help women get a strong foothold in the highly lucrative insurance distribution scheme. It's a performance oriented stipendiary LIC agency career only for women where all other benefits and privileges available for LIC agents are also provided. It has been designed to enable women to have long term financial independence and add more strength to industry. Under this scheme Bima Sakhi agents are provided with a facility to receive monthly stipends of Rs 7000 in first, Rs 6000 in second and Rs 5000 in the third agency year, subject to some terms and conditions.
